War of the Staffs: Epic Otherworldly Battle

Sci-fi fantasy breathes new life – and fire – in this promising book by K. M. Tedrick and Steve Stephenson. War of the Staffs an eventual trilogy introduces an astonishing range of unforgettable new characters beyond anything readers have become accustomed to with the usual garden-variety vampires.

War of the Staffs presents a classic struggle between good and evil against the backdrop of a mythical world called Muiria. Fans who thrill to stories about dwarves, dragons, and wizards will love the exciting characters and intrigues that populate this novel. Evil vampire warlock Taza uses dark magic controlled by the staff of Adois, a formidable goddess, to manipulate a horde of dark elves to launch an invasion of Muiria.

But Taza’s military advance is challenged by young Prince Tarquin born to fulfill an age-old prophecy, who with a band of misfit dwarves fight using everything they have to keep Taza’s vampire elves from overtaking the planet. Supernatural leader for the races of light, Celedant the wizard must find and reunite the Staff of Adaman, the only defense against the Staff of Adois, despite his conflicted interests representing an internal struggle that must be fought before the larger battle can be engaged.

Muiria’s heroes are forced to reunite the races and risk everything when called into action to protect their land and people. The spiraling question is whether the strongest and most diverse protagonists can overcome differences and conflicts to come together for the greater good.

A great classic fantasy with a thoroughly modern theme. All the characters you would expect, along with the addition of vampires. I found the book a little slow at first, but the pace picked up and soon had me hooked. A highly enjoyable and imaginative tale. I can't wait for more.
