Description

Can a lone girl rabbit with the odds stacked against her surprise Jimmy and the other animals to win the big treehouse construction contest? When the school year starts out, Jimmy Squirrel, whose dad owns the biggest construction company in the city, challenges a close group of friends to a treehouse contest. To everyone's surprise, Paisley Rabbit, who has never touched a hammer or a nail and has no one to help her, joins the contest as a long shot to win. But as things heat up, Paisley shows she has some tricks up her sleeve.

The illustrations are stunning -- seriously high quality work. A cute story with good morals where the patient thinker/planner wins the day. I understand the personal connection with this story, but I thought the young brother's illness could have been left more vague. But it doesn't detract from the story. I think some explanation of the planning stage (explaining more about the investors, etc.) would have benefited from an earlier exposition. I wondered where the cash came from, and it wasn't well explained until later. But, again, those illustrations. Wow.

Paisley Rabbit and the Tree House Contest
First let me just say how astounding the artwork of this book is! Every page is so beautifully mastered and the book nerd in me appreciated the custom library up top! I noticed it before I even read the proceeding page about it. Look out Belle, Paisley Rabbit might have stolen the award for the best literary library!
The story was full of morals and feel good emotions. I was pleasantly surprised by how Paisley went about collecting the funds and resources for her tree house. I would read this book to my children on numerous occasions and do recommend it to everyone looking for a new book.
