Description

Crashing through the snow . . .

Julia, the newly widowed Lady Leighton Kingswood, is hardly in the mood for the holidays. But thanks to the persistence of Julia’s sister-in-law, Lady Laurentia Howard, she soon finds herself braving the dreadful weather to venture out to the Howard estate to celebrate Christmas. She’s hoping for a peaceful interlude . . . until the coach crashes and the driver disappears, leaving her for dead.

The horrid weather is making Willem Wakefield wish he were still in the East Indies. But he’s on a diplomatic mission to deliver some important documents to Princess Charlotte, who’ll be attending the Howard’s Yuletide celebration. Except on the way there, he comes across an overturned carriage and finds a beautiful woman on the verge of freezing to death. Once he has her safely in his coach, he realizes his only option is to take her to the Howard estate with him.

But it isn’t long before he realizes that he’d like nothing more than to keep his Lady Frost all to himself. And for much longer than just the holidays . . .

For the past five years Sharon Sobel has spent the hottest days of New England summers writing about the coldest days of English winters. She is the author of fifteen works of romance fiction, including novellas in the four Regency Yuletide Collections and two novels published by ImaJinn Books. Her short story “The Jilt” was selected for inclusion in Second Chances, published by Romance Writers of America, from which she received a Service Award in 2017. She earned a PhD in English Language and Literature from Brandeis University and is an English professor at a Connecticut college, where she co-chaired the Connecticut Writers’ Conference for five years. An eighteenth century Connecticut farmhouse, where Sharon and her husband raised their three children, has provided inspiration for either the period or the setting for all of her books.

Another well written page turning book. The characters are well portrayed, Will & Julia are very likeable & their attraction is apparent from the start & this only grows even though there are a couple of misunderstandings. I thoroughly enjoyed it & found I read it in under a day.

My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

a splendid blend of romance and intrigue. Kept me clutching my tablet late into the night to finish. Julia travels to visit relatives but doesn't make it. She meets up with Willem and from there the romance blooms. Simply put this a well-written Regency romance.

I loved reading this, especially after reading Mistletoe Magic. While the books can stand alone, they do overlap a bit, and I was excited to read Will and Julia's story after "meeting" them in the other book. I love historical romances, and this was no exception. I could not put the book down, and thoroughly enjoyed reading it!

An intriguing and romantic tale of Lady Leighton Kingswood, a widow of two years, on the way to her sister-in law's for the Christmas Holidays. Her carriage falls off the road in the middle of a blizzard, she has been left to die. Lord Willem Wakefield, is heading for the same Christmas Party and happens to see the over turned carriage. He is a diplomat and negotiates things. He has come because there are some very serious matters that have to be discussed. He saves her from freezing to death.
This is a wonderful story, they have fallen in love but have yet to realize their feelings. Two special people who care for each other and others. Her sister-in-law wants her to be happy again and tries to introduced her to different men. The blizzard is frightening and so hard to travel in. But after Willem finds her, he feels responsible and takes care of her. I loved the warmth, friendliness, and protectiveness. I received this ARC for free and voluntarily reviewed it.

A lovely Regency romance, just the thing for the holiday season. Widowed Lady Julia is off to visit her relations for Christmas when her carriage runs off the road. She is saved by Willem Wakefield and they spend several days making their way to where it turns out they are both scheduled to spend the holiday season. Romance ensues and they fall in love as they participate in holiday activities...ice skating, dancing, bringing in the yule log and decorating the estate. A satisfying holiday read.

This is a truly interesting book! You can't believe the guest in this house party, due to the volcano that erupted, and brought a long, heavy winter, to England. We have Sally Jersey, Princess Charlotte, you name them, and they are there! I truly enjoyed this book, fast paced, lovely Christmas!
I highly recommend! Thanks! Enjoy!

After losing her husband two years previously, Julia, Lady Leighton Kingswood, has finally accepted an invitation from her late husband’s sister. In Under a Christmas Sky she is on her way to a Christmas party when her carriage is involved in an accident. She is then left for dead by her maid and driver.

Driving to a Christmas party to meet with Princess Charlotte and present her with an important manuscript, Willem Wakefield is not impressed with the English weather. The East Indies, even after the volcano eruption, is looking good right now. Then his driver finds a crashed carriage.

While working to move the obstacles from his carriage’s path Willem hears Julia’s faint cry from within the remains. Willem discovers his “Lady Frost” and soon his priorities are all focused on her. Keeping her warm, safe and most of all, with him.

Romantic And Enjoyable

Meeting over a carriage accident is certainly a romantic way to do it. In the middle of a storm certainly adds a level of intimacy. I liked how the author arranged these elements, it didn’t seem at all contrived as you find in some stories.

The characters themselves were enjoyable. Julia is still a little lost after losing her husband and Willem is mending his heart as well. They work really well together as a couple.

One part I found interesting was that you don’t really ever know if the accident was just that. Did the driver and maid contrive the event to make off with Julia’s things? Or had they honestly believed that she was dead and just tried to take advantage of the situation?

Either way, the author has managed to put together a wonderful story, where you can find love again and get another chance at happiness. Something we all hope is true.
