More importantly, about Charlie! Charlie the Caterpillar was born out of a conversation that my wife (Lesley Gutman) and daughter (Riley Claire Gutman) had about how cool it would be to write a book about a caterpillar trying on fashion inside of its cocoon. I kept saying they should write about it … and thus Charlie was born. Charlie is so much more interesting than Andy Gutman, who is simply of average height, maybe a few pounds overweight, and just some boring businessman!
