I liked this book very much. It was my first book by Anita Waller and I am gonna read her previous novels as well!
This book was fastpaced and although I had a suspicion who the bad guy was I had to keep on reading to find out if I was right. Definitely recommended!

Captor will have you gripped from the beginning and won’t let you go until you have finished. It is a suspense filled crime thriller that will keep you guessing throughout. I was honestly shocked at the outcome of this story, I did not expect it at all! I felt sorry for poor Liz, there is only so much one character can take and she had it all thrown at her!

Stories like these that contains babies and young children always get to me a little more cause I’m a parent myself I relate to the mother/father character and think what would I actually do in that situation, its scary. I found Captor an easy, fast paced read and enjoyed every minute of it. I awarded a well deserved four stars. Another brilliant book by Anita with a fab cover too. I would highly recommend this story to you all!

*Please note this is the review I will be using on my blog blitz date 14th of Feb.*

Liz Chambers has a secret. A secret is only a secret if only one person knows it. Someone else knows her secret ....

When her young son is kidnapped from the babysitter's house, the kidnapper leaves behind two dead bodies.

Why would someone want her son? She has no money for a ransom. Was he taken out of revenge? But who would want to hurt her this much?

This was a very well-written suspenseful novel. The story premise is a good one with characters that the reader won't forget anytime soon. I did find it a bit predictable, but that did not diminish my interest at all. The ending was such a complete surprise, I found myself reading it twice. The story's uniqueness earned a 5-star rating.

Many thanks to the author / Bloodhound Books / Netgalley for the advanced digital copy. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

The cover and blurb of this book intrigued me so I couldn’t resist reading it. I’m so glad I did. Last night I thought I’d read a chapter or two before bed. I read 70%. This morning before I even got out of bed I finished it. I knew I wouldn’t be able to function today until I found out how it was going to end.

Liz Chambers has a job she loves and 2 kids she adores. She’s hiding a secret that could destroy her and her family. When her youngest son is kidnapped from his childminders home she is devastated. When secrets start coming out it’s a race against time to find out who the Captor is and find her son.

I absolutely loved this story. I was totally gripped. The twists I didn’t expect and I didn’t guess who the Captor was. I’ll definitely be reading more from this author in the future.

Wow Anita yet another great book. I was gripped from page one and couldn't put it down. Liz has an affair and gets pregnant little knowing all the trouble this will cause. When her son is kidnapped and her husband murdered Liz has no idea who she has upset so much to want to ruin her life. A fast paced thriller that I highly recommend to all my book loving friends

This book is deserves much more than five stars - I loved it!
Liz is distraught when her baby is taken from the childminder’s home and her life starts to crumble around her.
The Police try and help her and her teenage son Dan to cope with the shock and do all they can to work out who is responsible for such an evil deed.
This is so much more than just the kidnapping of a child though as other elements in Liz’s life are also affected. I can’t say too much without spoiling it but if you like gripping crime thrillers, then you will really enjoy this book.
It is a real page turner and the last few chapters had me holding my breath in anticipation.
Thanks to Bloodhound Books and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

Having read Anita Waller before, I knew to expect something that kept me on the edge of my seat. Captor does not disappoint. She takes one of the most heart-wrenching topics (kidnapping of a small baby) and weaves it into an intricate plot, full of red herrings that kept me guessing until the end. Even then, she threw me for a loop. Five enthusiastic stars.

This is the 5th book I have read by Anita Waller and I was not disappointed.

The book is centered around Liz who had an affair, with Phil, whilst her husband was working away and as a result baby Jake is born. She ends the affair as soon as she discovers the pregnancy and has no further contact with Phil. After returning to work, after maternity leave, Liz discovers that Phil has been missing for months and then her son is kidnapped from the childminders.
Are the two connected ? Who is responsible ? Is Liz the real target ?
This book had me gripped from the start and I couldn’t wait to read more just to find out what was going to happen next.
I am a big fan of Anita’s writing and this latest book doesn’t disappoint. Would highly recommend to anyone that loves a good suspense.

Well what can I say? I have been really looking forward to reading Captor by Anita Waller and I wasn’t disappointed.

You had suspense, drama and tears all in one book.

The turn of every page kept me hooked, Captor was beautifully written and brilliantly thought out. Although I guessed who the Captor was beforehand, there were a few red herrings thrown in to shake the reader off the scent.

Captor is one book you must read if you like suspense, crime and a good book.

I have been a big fan of Anita’s since reading Beautiful and she only gets better with every book she writes. If you haven’t read any of Anita’s books, then please do, she is one very talented author and one that shouldn’t be missed.

Loved, loved, loved it….

Wow. what an amazing book. To say I couldn’t put it down doesn’t seem enough. I felt like it was glued not just to my fingers, but to my eyes and my mind. I didn’t have a choice. It’s *that* good.

We begin, with the disappearance of Liz’s son, and we follow through as she struggles to find him. At the same time as uncovering the ‘secret; she has been keeping and it’s far reaching consequences.

It’s a great tale of how even the simplest of our actions, all taken with the best of intentions create ripples, like a stone thrown in pond, that can unsettle the foundations of everything we believe in.

I’m not a huge fan of British books. I often find them to be difficult to read without getting tripped up by the spelling, etc.
That didn’t happen with this book. From the beginning, I felt drawn into the story. I even found myself writing a list of who I thought”Captor” might be (I was proven right!).
The story was well written and kept this reader up well into the wee hours to finish it. The spectrum of emotions I found myself experiencing ran the whole of them. As a mom myself, I rode the waves of tension right along with Liz; at times, I was exhausted!

Its that time again Anita Waller has produced another captivating read in her new book Captor, full of secrets, lies, adultery, child abduction, family issues, murder and REVENGE….. What more could you want to titillate and spark your desire for a sensational psychological read.

Liz’s child is abducted from her childminders home, is there someone out there who wants to destroy her life?

Liz harbours a secret which could destroy her family, will she have to reveal the secret to save her child, can she save her family?

All questions which need to be answered!

I followed the scent of the intricate labyrinth of deception and secrets, capturing the essence of fear and suspense, hoping and praying Liz would survive the harrowing ordeal and have her child returned. Liz on occasions seemed a little contrite, but I also found her belligerent at times, this possibly could have been due to the police investigation into her life. Even so, I felt that I actually connected with Liz in several ways, I empathised with her situation, wondering what would I do in her shoes, what would anyone else do, after all its your child.

Anita’s depiction of the characters, lead me to feel cautious and guarded about who was to blame, who could be the perpetrator, they all had aspects in there characterisations which I believed made them capable of abducting a child but boy was I dead wrong. Anita threw me for a loop, all the ducking and diving produced a electrifyingly first-class conclusion to a traumatic thriller.

I guarantee you will not be able to put Captor to rest until finished, jam packed and stacked with everything you could desire in a criminal psychological thriller.

Thank you to Anita Waller for capturing my imagination and thoroughly enthralling my senses, it has been a pleasure to have been offered an advanced readers copy of Captor, to read and review with my own unbiased opinions. Also thanks to Bloodhound Books and Sarah Hardy for a damn good read, keep the fantastic books coming!

Thank you for the opportunity to read Netgalley! This was a riveting read from start to finish. Liz has been on maternity leave and right after she goes back to work realizes that the man she had an affair with, the father of her newborn, has been missing for months. Then, "Captor" takes her son. Every single person in her life becomes suspect, it could be anyone. We get glimpses into the life of the missing father and newborn, but the real shocker is who Captor ends up being. This is the only part of the story that I wish had been more explored. I feel like if the psyche of this individual had been a little more explored it would have give more depth to the hatred that this person felt toward Liz and would have added some more suspense to the novel. Great book!

When Liz Chambers' husband is away on a business trip for several weeks, she meets and falls in love with Phil. The result of their affair is baby Jake. However, already married to Gareth and with an elder son, Dan, to consider, instead of leaving her husband Liz ends the affair and severs all contact with Phil, keeping the secret that could destroy her family close to her chest.

When Liz returns to work after her maternity leave she employs a childminder to look after Jake. It seems her secret is still safe, until one fateful day when Liz goes to collect Jake, only to find he's been abducted by someone referred to in the novel as 'Captor'. Unbeknown to Liz, Captor also abducted Phil several months earlier but he was never reported as a missing person, his wife, having learned of his affair, assuming he'd simply walked out on her. Liz's secret doesn't appear to be so safe afterall. But who wants to make her pay and why?

Captor is one of those stories that draws you in from the first page and doesn't let go. But it's so much more than just another 'kidnapped baby' tale. Emotional and suspenseful in equal measures, as a reader you can't help but feel for Liz at times, despite her betrayal.

Around halfway through the novel I thought I'd figured out who Captor was, and it turned out I was right, but that didn't detract from my enjoyment of the novel in the slightest; it was still an engrossing, well-written novel, featuring believable characters and a plot that could've come straight from the front pages of a newspaper.

This is the first novel I've read by Anita Waller but I'm sure it won't be my last.
