I am on the fence with this book between like and love... there was somethings I liked and somethings I loved. SO I am unsure in how to rate it. I am going to say 4.5, there was times were certain parts would drag on and it was har to get through. OTHER than that, I absolutely loved this book! It was a wonderful read and I am so excited and curious about the second book to this series!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. This is the first book of the Crystal Coast Series and in it we follow Stevie as she cares for her son who is Autistic. Stevie learns that she is a witch and that her powers are needed to stop Vanessa, an evil witch who has gone astray. I really enjoyed this book and had a hard time putting it down. I was worried that it was going to be tropey and like all of the other witchy books I have read, but Lessey made the plot her own.

Witches and magic, good and evil and some romance thrown into the mix. What is not to like? One thing that I am really glad about is that when Stevie starts her training the first thing she does is not learn how to make fire :) like in many other books although I don't have anything against it. Stevies training was a bit a fresh air. I loved the writing style as well as all of the characters and how they interacted with each other.
I look forward to reading more by Chrissy Lessey.

When I began reading this book, the characters were interesting, I quickly became involved. Then, the female character was strong and feisty just the way I like them.

I really enjoyed this novel, especially which the author included the struggle that a family with an autistic child endures. Every time Charlie had a breakthrough I found myself smiling and I really want to see what happens in the next two books when/if they go on sale.

I really liked the opening and wish that we were told more of the original witches’ stories, perhaps the author will do another book or series, Stevie was an amazing woman even before she discovered her powers. I loved most of the characters in the book, even Vanessa. She was warped by an unloving, selfish mother whom she tried to please until the end, I doubt that Susan will even care what happened to her daughter unless she can twist it to suit her needs,

4.75/5 STARS: **I want to thank the author and/or publisher for providing me with a copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review; all opinions are mine.**

This book wasn't exactly what I was thinking it would be. Maybe it was the cover or maybe it was the description. Anyways, I would classify it as a paranormal mystery. It has a tiny bit of romance but it definitely is not the main focus of the book. The main focus of the book is a line of witches that are descendants of three witches that originally landed in what is now Beaufort, North Carolina. It is told from multiple POVs but mostly from Stevie's. There are mentions of pirates, ship wrecks, treasure and lots of magic. Stevie's young son is also autistic and the story focuses on that some too. It was interesting and I look forward to reading the next book in the series to see what Stevie and her coven is up to.

I devoured this book in one sitting! Fans of Nora Roberts’ light paranormal stories (Cousins O’Dwyer Trilogy, Three Sisters Island Trilogy) will love THE COVEN, the first book in Chrissy Lessey’s Crystal Coast Series, published by Tenacious Books.

I liked this book, its all the things I like. The story was good and wasn't the usual trope that you get with witch novels, it was refreshing,

This book isn’t one I would usually read...but I loved it. Stevie is a single mother caring for her young son with autism. Throw in a web of magic Stevie had no clue about and you have the coven. It’s a must read.
