Description

"A Deeply Spiritual Blockbuster!"

At a time of unprecedented social strife, rampant gun violence, and constant international military conflict, The Stranger in Central Park offers a radical new look at the bedrock teachings of Christianity, and at the inner workings of American government. This thought-provoking, page-turning thrill ride is sure to inspire and engage readers everywhere.

From author James Patrick Dillon comes this timely and deeply spiritual blockbuster, a tale of a brother and sister, each on a journey of faith.

To Katie Molinaro, "the Stranger" is a divine and self-luminous being who holds the key to world peace and personal salvation. However, to her brother, New York City Mayor Jack Molinaro, the Stranger is an enigmatic and troubling figure who has drawn thousands to Central Park during a week of great tension and peril, immensely complicating the hunt for a dangerous, nuclear-armed, terrorist.

Both Jack and Katie face extraordinary challenges, and the Stranger gives each of them opportunities to avoid great personal tragedy and grow spiritually, if they can find the courage to trust his teachings.

What would you do if such a "Stranger" came into your life? Would you repent? Reform? Change your ways? If commanded to re-examine your actions, political beliefs, and even the tenants of your faith, could you take a leap of faith and change?

The action starts on page one with Katie laying in the grass after being attacked while jogging through Central Park early in the morning. Will she live or die? She questions what she is now-a spirit, a ghost? This is just the beginning of a story that pulls you in and will not let you go until the end. I could not stop reading until finished; the author does a wonderful job of describing the characters and the scene making the reader feel like they are right there. As a strong believer in Jesus that is how I see the stranger; for those with other beliefs I am sure there are many ways to envision who or what the stranger is. In our modern world it is difficult to know what truth is and who can be trusted. This story offers the idea of love for each other and peace as a way of solving many of our current problems. The author quotes scriptures and offers ideas for how those scriptures can assist each of us in our journey through this life. I found this book to be thought provoking and timely as well as entertaining and informational. There is something for everyone in this story- good versus evil, love versus hate, crime and intrigue. A lot to get you thinking; I highly recommend you read it!
