Description

Polly, 28, lives in London with a "perfect-on-paper" boyfriend and a dead-end job. Her banal existence is turned upside down late one drunken night after a chance encounter with a man on a packed train.

The chemistry between them is electric and on impulse, they kiss, giving in to their carnal desires. But it’s over in an instant, and Polly is left shell-shocked as he walks away without even telling her his name.

Polly begins a frantic online search, and discovers more about "Tubing," an underground phenomenon in which total strangers set up illicit, silent, sexual meetings on busy commuter tube trains. In the process, she tracks him down and he slowly lures her into his murky world, setting up encounters with different men via Twitter.

At first she thinks she can keep it separate from the rest of her life, but things soon spiral out of control. A horrific turn of events make Polly realize not only how foolish she has been, but how much danger she is in. Can she get out before it’s too late?

A good psychological thriller with a "who can you trust" thread all the way through. Interesting storyline - is tubing even a thing??? Some elements I would have been interested in hearing a bit more about such as Polly's eating disorder and about Sebastians history but overall I thought it was a good read and would recommend.

Polly lives in London with her boyfriend, Oliver. The story begins with a scene in an up-market wine bar on Chancery Lane, London. Polly thinks her boyfriend has forgotten their three-year anniversary. She has a dull, dead end job and lives in a one bedroom flat with Oliver.

On the tube journey home she meets a stunning looking stranger and she gives in to his advances. He walks away without a backward glance. She is now obsessed and discovers #tubing which allows strangers to meet up for sex on busy commuter tube trains.

She is lured into the stranger’s murky world but all is not as it seems. As the story develops her world is turned upside down and she doesn’t appear to be able to let it go. Polly realises how much danger she is in but is it too late?

I found this a sharp, original, erotic thriller with numerous twists and turns.

Highly recommended. Thanks to NetGalley, RedDoor Publishing and K A McKeagney for the ARC in return for my honest review.

Tubing by K.A. McKeagney was definitely an eye opening book. Is tubing actually a thing? I'm almost afraid to google it! That being said, this was an enthralling, mysterious novel that kept you on your toes and made you second guess who you could trust and make you want to throttle Polly for some of her choices! Would you call it an erotic thriller? I guess you could. Polly was a very frustrating, unlikeable main character, but the way her psychosis was slowly heading out of control made it all the more interesting. The ending was however, very frustrating and abrupt!

Thank you to the publisher for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A highly original thriller featuring the idea of "Tubing" - the practice of "hooking up" with complete strangers travelling on the London underground. I am not sure if this is a real thing or not but the idea would certainly make for a more interesting commute than usual!
Our main character is Polly who is in a somewhat unfulfilling relationship with surgeon boyfriend Oliver. They live together and seem to be in a relationship-rut which when put together with Polly's distinctly dead-end and uninspiring office job means Polly is ready for a bit of excitement in her life. She gets more than she bargained for during a busy tube journey home one evening when a devastatingly handsome stranger makes sexual advances towards her which she succumbs to. Before long Polly is hooked and gets drawn further and further into the underground world of Tubing with disastrous consequences. The character of Polly irritated me at times as she lurched from one bad decision to another but the author gives some nice background which perhaps goes some way to explaining Polly's mindset and behaviour.
A very good read with plenty twists and turns but a slightly abrupt conclusion.
Thanks to the author, Red Door Publishing and Netgalley UK for an advance review copy.

A great thriller with a subject that I've not heard called Tubing. It had me gripped from the beginning.
Recommended read.

After another boring day's work Polly goes out drinking. On the train home she sees a gorgeous looking man. When their eyes lock, the next thing she knows, not only do they start kissing but end up having sex on the packed train. As he walks away without saying a word she wonders what the hell just happened. One thing she does know- she wants to see him again.
In her search for him online she discovers a thing called “tubing”, where people have silent sexual encounters. She's knows its wrong but the excitement of it makes her want to try it again, who knows, she may even find that gorgeous man.
She's heading into a very dangerous game, one that could cost her her life.
It didn't take me long to read this thriller. I wanted to know if she found him, if he turned out to be the man of her dreams or someone she really needed to fear. It gripped me from the first page and I loved the twists in it. I have no hesitation in recommending this book and it gets five stars from me.
Many thanks to RedDoor Publishing for approving my arc via NetGalley. This is my honest and unbiased review

IF Fifty Shades had been set on a train, then I imagine that it would have been this novel. I've not read the trilogy so can't say for sure, but there's some funny business going on her that's for sure! I find the Tube quite uncomfortable as it's so hot and humid - well that's nothing compared to the temperature of this book!. Pity I read on the kindle otherwise I would have been using it as a fan. Just as well I remembered before I gave myself a head injury!
The premise is a good one but I'm scared of googling the hashtags in the novel for fear of them being real! The tubes I've been on, people don't even look each other in the eye or make any kind of conversation so this was an eye opener! haha

Not the kind of book I usually read, but many will love it I'm sure

This book is an interesting cross-genre between erotica and thriller, with the protagonist being a quite hard to like character called Polly.

Polly is definitely a complex individual. She has a lovely boyfriend yet is completely disatisfied by her life, her love life, and basically everything. This seems to evolve from a difficult childhood and an addictive personality, which make this character very flawed yet interesting.

Suddenly Polly finds herself in what she considers an exciting situation. She hooks up with a handsome stranger and generally becomes hooked on the thrill of "tubing" - meeting random strangers at specific locations on the tube for some no strings attached sex.

I felt like this was not a book to take too seriously, but it is definitely one you want to continue reading, if only to see quite how badly it's all going to end for Polly.

Could this be why most passengers stare at the floor and avoid eye contact when they are on the tube? Only kidding, but the last 30% really ramped up the thriller side of things and was quite intense. I have to say this section was my favourite part of the book.

A well written tale. I would definitely read more by this author.

Tubing by K.A. McKeagney a five-star read that will blow your mind. I struggled with giving this book five-stars and almost gave it four as there were lots that needed polishing in the book, but the fact the author really puts the story out there making Polly a character that you may not like but you need to dig deeper into her story, the author has shown a talent for creating circumstances that most of us would disprove of but need to know more about. Polly on the surface has it all, nice boyfriend, job, somewhere to live, but is it enough? Do we have to settle? Admittedly Polly goes to the extreme but isn’t that why we read, to leave reality behind and get lost in a crazy story. What could be, just a drama with a little erotica thrown in to make it a little spicy takes a turn that will drop your jaw and leave you wondering what if, and what next. Give this book a chance if you like to escape reality and live a little dangerously. Let Polly take all of the danger for you.

Although not my usual kind of book I found the storyline novel and was intrigued to know the outcome.

This really is s book of two halves!
Polly is bored with her life and her boyfriend, when the opportunity arises to have a liaison with a stranger in a train she jumps at the chance.
So far so good. Having read about thirty percent I’d assumed this would continue as erotica with a bit of a story and I was quite happy. Then, fairly unexpectedly, there was a major twist that meant the second half was more like a thriller.
I’m not sure how to feel about the book as a whole. I didn’t like any of the characters, the story feels a bit disjointed and the ending leaves many questions unanswered. That said, I still really liked it. The sex scenes are nicely done and the motivations driving the characters are clear, if misguided.
I’ll be interested to watch how this writer develops.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Its a bit of a nail biting thriller, I couldn't put it down. It was quite disturbing to think something like this could actually be happening. I really liked the characters and felt sorry for oliver but I loved Alisha . I'd definitely recommend it and would read it again

I really enjoyed this book.
It was gripping how her life changed over this sexual obsession. She knew her life was on a downward path and she was exploiting herself and yet this desire consumed her to continue.
I WILL NOT LOOK AT PEOPLE ON THE tUBE WITHOUT WONDERING!

This is an incredibly unique book that starts out like 50 shades of commuting but quickly takes a very sinister turn. The characters are complex, the plot is compelling, the writing is cinematic. I think the book ended a scene or two too soon but overall it is such a winning read that I have given it the full 5 stars.

I read this book in a day because it’s the kind of book that keeps you wanting to find out what would happen next. The story starts with Polly drinking with a work colleague on the night of her 3 year anniversary with Oliver. She’s upset because there is no celebration of this and to make things worse, she bumps into Charlotte, Oliver’s older sister who he is very close to. On the tube home, something unexpected happens. Polly kisses and becomes intimate with a total stranger on the way home. This throws her into turmoil, especially when he ends their encounter with “Meet me again”.
Polly discovers her encounter is known as “tubing” and she is drawn into it looking for this stranger though as she finds, the excitement is also addictive.
There are lots of twists as we follow her on her encounters – does this stranger actually like her? How far will she go? What about her partner Oliver? Added to this, she is a bulimic which compounds the increasing stress she places herself under due to the secretive nature of what she is doing. I really enjoyed this book, it is the perfect novel for losing yourself for a couple of hours. And who knew the tube could be a setting for more than a commute?! Looking forward to McKeagney’s next novel.

This book was very interesting. Started out slow but then picked up with a surprise ending. I was very shocked at the ending and had a hard time putting it down. I read this book in 6 hrs. Great story.

Gritty, no frills barred exciting first time novel. Does tubing really exist? don't think i want to know! Dark, seedy, wanton. Think you have the perfect life but then everything goes AWOL, how can a seemingly good girl gone bad get herself out of the mess she has got herself into and the foundations of all she knows and loves not collapse. Definitely a hot summer read five stars for me even though it could do with a little work can't wait to see where her second book takes us hopefully it too will have the shock factor this one has.
