With a title like this, my expectations are very high, and I feel this short, 30 day devotional did deliver. Each day, there is a reading from a classic Christian author, things to think about, and several Bible verses. I was excited to see A. B. Simpson, Hannah Whittall Smith, Charles Spurgeon, C S Lewis, Brother Lawrence, and R. A Torrey among those featured.

I appreciated that the readings chosen were serious and gave me a lot to think about. There are some devotionals out there that seem so uninspired, not really saying a thing that helps with growth. Since I am looking at shorter devotionals for this year, I was happy to find this one. I recommend it highly.

30 Days to Knowing God Better is a inspiring thirty day devotional. Each day, the book provides insights from historical figures including Charles Spurgeon, D.L. Moody, and John Wesley. The day’s section then highlights a few applicable Bible verses, has a section for personal reflection on the passages (including adequate space to record your thoughts), and ends with a selection of relevant quotes. The book also contains a Scripture index in the back. I particularly enjoyed that the majority of Bible verses are in my beloved King James Version. There are a few verses that are denoted to come from the NIV, but the reference is listed so that it can easily be cross-referenced. I found the devotions to be helpful and thought-provoking. I think anyone wanting to deepen their relationship with God would enjoy this book.

I received an advance reading copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. I was not obligated to write a positive review.

God is not only knowable, but He wants us to know Him, to have a deep, intimate relationship with Him. That’s the reason He gave us the Bible, so that we could get to know our Father in Heaven, in His own words, and that’s the theme and purpose of this thirty day devotional. If you give this insightful devotional thirty minutes a day for the next thirty days, you just may find that you have a deeper understanding of who God is that transforms your relationship with God and your life, forever. Among these pages, you’ll find the inspirational writings from some of the best minds in Christian history, such as Matthew Henry, John Wesley, Hannah Whittall Smith, Charles Spurgeon, D.L. Moody, and many more. It also includes Scripture references for additional reading, questions for further thought, and writing space to record your observations.

I found this devotional to be incredibly insightful and inspirational. So much is included to help you have a much deeper, more knowledgeable understanding of our Heavenly Father, so that we can have a much closer, intimate relationship with Him. I really appreciated that the entries were serious and thought provoking and really inspire spiritual growth. Because of this, I think it would be a wonderful devotional to do on your own, as a couple or family, or even as a part of a group study. This would definitely make an invaluable addition to anyone’s devotional library.

I am a big fan of devotionals, and I loved this one. The devotionals are written by prominent people in the religious community. There are bible verses and a place for personal reflections. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the ARC of this book. Although I received the book in this manner, it did not effect my opinion of this book nor my review.
