Beryl is the leader of planet Hy man and fighting to remain so. Beryl is desperate, the planet’s energy is on its last legs and chapping at her heels to take over is the ruthless Hilda. A woman with a personality as bad her haircut and will do anything to get her way...
“Quickly” said H2 but before she had time to flick a switch Hilda’s voice boomed from the roof of the shed as she stood astride it like superhero with a cape flapping in the wind.

“New hairdo” she shouted?

Beryl continued to fumble with the exit button; how the pickle egg did she get up there?

Thank you NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for this arc.

This was fun! I kept seeing Agnes, Bess and Ina in the characters. Agnes, Bess and Ina were my first backyard chickens.... Rhode Island Reds and they just stayed in trouble, caused me a lot of trouble, and were all round "pains" as far a chickens go. Rebel Without a Clue is very light SciFi, lampoon of busy old ladies who run and rule their world. Which we do. I saw so many gals that I recognized. I knew all their attitudes and manipulations / scheming. Loved it. But it's for women that can read with their tongue in their cheek.

3.5 stars rounded up

While it took me a little while to get hooked, I soon appreciated the humor of this title. One example that shows science fiction titles don't have to be boring or full of doom and gloom. But, you do have to throw your idea of what can happen to the curb to enjoy it.

Adding the sequel to my reading list for the future.

First, how can you NOT giggle about a book set on planet Hy Man? Old ladies full of attitude and sass populate this humorous sci=fi novel. A bit tongue-in-cheek I found myself regularly laughing as I read this. Definitely leaning more towards dark humor and satire than light-hearted fun, this book is a bright spot in a world that seems to be getting darker every day. A great break from the real world.
