Jack Stratton experiences more than Frost"NIPPING AT HIS NOSE! Going undercover to investigate an insurance tragedy; Jack finds himself running from EXPLOSIONS, AVALANCHES, and a KILLER. Posing as a gofer on a reality TV production of "Planet Survival" Jack must struggle with the blizzard weather, hidden agendas and the isolation from civilization. Alice, Jack's fiancee is left at home to work evidence but is also seeking answers to an ancient accident that took the lives of her family. Two mysteries to enjoy along with these heartfelt characters. "A copy of this book was provided by author via Netgalley with no requirements for a review. Reviews here are my honest opinion."

I love the Jack Stratton series. The characters are wonderful, the plot is well paced and believable. This latest book is a great addition to an excellent series.

I've read and enjoyed two other books by this author - one a standalone ("The Girl Who Lived") and the other "Jack of Hearts," another in this series featuring private investigator and bounty hunter Jack Stratton. When I got a chance to read an advance copy of this one, saying yes was a no-brainer. Am I glad I did? You betcha; in fact, it's my favorite.

Some things have changed a bit, most notably that Jack and his fellow investigator, Alice, are now engaged to be married - though they haven't yet set a date. Alice is still grieving the years-ago loss of her parents in an auto hit-and-run; to help, she's asked a mercenary friend, Kiku, to try and track him down. Meanwhile, Jack is asked to get to the bottom of a suspicious death on the set of "Planet Survival," a popular realilty show. Jack decides the best way to go is undercover - the current show is being filmed atop Minuit Mountain in the middle of winter. Alice isn't happy about having to stay home, but the producer insists she can't add more than one person to the crew without causing undue notice.

Jack and the producer win out, leaving Alice to handle research chores, the progress of Kiku's investigation of her parents' death and taking care of Lady, Jack's gigantic King Shepherd. Actually, that was fine with me; Jack may be smitten, but I didn't much care for her from the git-go. And here, when Jack learns that she wants him to call her "darling" because that's what Jack's dad calls his mom, I actually hoped she'd defy orders, climb the mountain and get buried in an avalanche like the crew member whose death is being looked into.

But for better or worse, she's never in much danger. The same can't be said, though, for Jack. Up on that snowy mountain, Murphy's Law is not only alive, but well; what can go wrong does - and then some. From the initial gondola ride to the lodge, when Jack sees as rock painted with an Iroquois symbol for death, the action is pretty much nonstop. A killer blizzard - literally - keeps everyone chilling out in the dark as dead bodies start piling up. Clearly, someone's on a spree; can Jack find out who it is before everyone gets frosted?

The ending thrills, chills and brings a few surprises, making for an exciting read. Now I'll be eagerly awaiting the next installment (which the author says will be titled "Jack of Diamonds"). Bring it on!

The bigger the danger, the greater the odds, the more blistering the drama, reality shows are big money, but when a suspicious death occurs on the snow-covered Mount Minuit, Jack Stratton and his fiancé and partner, Alice are called in to investigate what really happened. Was the death a freak accident, or was it murder? While Jack goes undercover as a member of the film crew, Alice is left grounded working behind the scenes from the comfort of their warm and dry apartment.

Meanwhile, Alice calls on a beautiful, yet deadly mercenary friend to uncover what really happened the day her parents were killed in a hit-and-run accident. Is accident the wrong word? Were their deaths intentional? Why?

As bad luck or planned disasters plague the shooting of Planet Survival, Jack will find himself with caught up in a deadly game of survival, himself as Alice gets one step closer to the identity of the monster who killed her family.

JACK FROST by Christopher Greyson is a mystery lover’s delight. With more twists and plot turns than an Olympic ski trail, this easy-reading, action-packed tale will keep readers guessing at what will happen next! Brilliant characters, many that are completely unlikable will each look guilty at one point or another and who can be trusted will change with the weather.

As Alice enlists the neighbor lady to help with show details, Kiku uses her special talents to unearth the answers Alice seeks.

Christopher Greyson’s style is easy to read, easy to get lost in and easy to believe as we go behind the scenes for a reality check on “reality entertainment.” Will I be reading more about Jack and Alice? No mystery there, the answer is yes!

Jack Frost – Christopher Greyson

I was fortunate to receive this novel as an Advance Reader Copy, in exchange for an objective review.

Jack Stratton is a former police officer, turned private investigator, who takes a case for an insurance agency after an untimely death on the set of a reality survivor show. While the death was termed accidental, the crew of the show have been receiving death threats, and Jack is to go in undercover to evaluate the situation.
The television show is presently filming atop a snow-capped mountain, with a gondola as the only transportation to the top. Alice, Jack’s fiancée and investigative partner, will stay behind, albeit unwillingly, and research records, crew background checks and raw footage from the shows filming.

As Jack transports to the mountain top, he sees a sign – the Iroquois’ sign for death, carved into the mountainside. One atop, he becomes the crews newest ‘gofer’, as his undercover role. As he begins to meet and assess the crew and contestants, malicious things begin to happen. A contestant is disqualified, and after a show of temper, goes missing.

Numerous incidents begin to occur, hampering and narrowly missing injuring cast and crew. As tension mounts, Jack desperately searches for a killer, Alice makes her own discoveries to identify a killer, and a monstrous snowstorm changes course and heads in their direction…

Do you enjoy an action-packed, page-turning, thrilling and gripping suspense novel? Christopher Greyson NAILED IT with Jack Frost - the latest and possibly greatest in his Jack Stratton series.

Jack and fiancé Alice land a contract on the highest rated reality show. Only Jack is allowed on set - high atop perilous Mount Minuit, while Alice is forced to stay behind to investigate a previous death on that same set.

Try as I might, I didn’t figure out “whodunnit” till right before the reveal. That’s the mark of a great writer. I was hooked from the first to the very last page! Highly recommended!

Very grateful to have received a free ARC of Jack Frost from the author and NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
