Description

The Perfect Holiday Read!

It’s a long way from New York to Idaho…but could they have found a home at last?

Dani Capelli has never truly belonged anywhere. And from her earliest days as a foster child in Queens, she would have been lost if it weren’t for her love of animals. Until high school, when she fell hard for the wrong boy, and found herself pregnant—and married—by graduation. Two daughters later, Dani realized her mistake and filed for divorce, and with the help of scholarships and loans—and a lot of macaroni and cheese dinners—she enrolled in vet school. Things were finally looking up…until her ex-husband became her late husband, in the most notorious way possible.

Now Dani and her daughters need an out-of-town pass more than ever. So when the retiring Haven Point veterinarian offers her a chance to settle in the small Idaho town and take over his practice, she jumps at it. But adjusting to the charming mountain community isn’t easy; thirteen-year-old Silver begins acting out while six-year-old Mia is growing too attached to Haven Point and everything in it, especially their next-door-neighbor, Deputy Sheriff Ruben Morales. And Dani can’t blame her. Ruben is everything she’s secretly wanted—and everything she can’t bear to risk loving…and losing.

As the holidays draw near, their shared concern for Dani’s daughters brings them closer together, giving Ruben the chance to show this big-city woman just how magical Christmas in Haven Point can be...and that the promise of a home at last is very real in the most wondrous season of the year…

Truly enjoyed this story between Dani and Ruben.

Dani and her two daughters are new to Haven point and there is certainly an adjustment phase. Dani has worked very hard to get to where she is at and on top of it, she is a single mother. She doubts herself while working as a veterinarian and hoping that she has made the right decision in moving her family to this new town.

Ruben, the town Deputy is also going through an adjustment phase of his own after meeting Dani and her children. Dani is working in his father's clinic and notices that this family seem a bit distant. His father believes in her and thinks that she will be able to run the practice but Ruben is not so sure.

Haven Point is not where one goes for alone time....the people in this town are too friendly to allow this to happen. People are intrigued by the new arrivals. Why didn't Dani want to enjoy town activities and socialize? What was she hiding?

Will Ruben be able to break through Dani's wall and find peace? Will the children learn to enjoy and love Haven Point as much as the rest of the town do or will they, like Dani, continue to keep their feelings hidden?

This is a story of learning to trust again and giving yourself permission to believe in yourself and others. You never know who will come into your life and make you believe in these things again, you never know who will show you that it is okay to let go of the past and to start living in the present.

I hope you enjoy Season of Wonder as much as I did. RaeAnne always writes such wonderful stories and she certainly does not disappoint with this one!!

Thank you to Netgalley and Harlequin for allowing me the chance to read such a wonderful heart-felt story!!

I am sorry that it took a bit for my review!! I have left reviews on Goodreads and Amazon.

RaeAnne Thayne is just one of the best at writing a book that doles out real life problems with heartwarming resolutions. The small town aspect of Season of Wonder and the hunky hero combined with a heroine who fights allowing herself to love, two children trying to adapt to a new life and several dogs thrown in to boot, make this glorious seasonal read a happy place I didn't want to leave!
I could smell the Christmas tree, feel the snow on my face and taste the hot chocolate. All I need is a soft blanket and I can stay forever.

This is a beautifully written story about Daniella (Dani) Capelli and her two children, Silver (13) and Mia (6), who move from the east coast to Haven Point, Idaho to start a new life. Dani, now a veterinarian, accepted a job offer interning for a vet for a year to see if the move and the job are a good fit for her. The clinic’s owner, Frank Morales, with Dani there, has cut his hours way back and will be retiring for good in a year. His son, Ruben, lives next door to Dani at Haven Point Lake. He is taken in by the three of them and helps out whenever he can. Dani is guarded and due to her now deceased ex-husband, Tommy’s past criminal history, has no intention of looking toward a bright future. Set during the holiday season, I was drawn in by Ruben, whose care and kind ways brought tears to Dani’s and my eyes. The mystery of vandalism and theft that occurs adds suspense to the mix. This is an exceptional read, and I highly recommend it. Season of Wonder can easily be read as a stand alone.

RaeAnne’s Haven Point Series of books have become one of my favorite series. I love the small tight-knit community where everyone is neighborly - or almost everyone! When you read a series like the Haven Point Series, you come to know the people and they become like friends. You feel like you could purchase a house down the road and move right in. This is Haven Point.

In Season of Wonder, RaeAnn adds two children just trying to fit in and a mom who is desperately trying to keep their past from seeping into their new life. But, the more secrets we keep, the more tales we tell. Time will tell in this story as we wonder if the cop next door and the new veterinarian in town will be able to work together and just possibly fall in love.

I have read all of this series and I am hoping that there are a few more on the way. Definitely pick this book up and a few others if you haven’t already read them. This will be a great addition for the fire-side evenings coming soon.

Dani gets a second chance for herself and her two daughters when she accepts a veterinarian job in a small Idaho town. She hopes to put the ugliness of her past behind and settle in to Haven Point, but fear of having her past discovered keeps her distant and reserved with residents who would otherwise welcome her and her girls. When thirteen-year-old Silver gets in a little trouble, their Sheriff’s deputy neighbor, Ruben Morales, comes up with a plan for Silver to make amends without legal trouble. Aside from the fact that Ruben's plan has Dani spending too much time with the handsome deputy she's attracted to but absolutely can’t get involved with, it’s a great plan.

This author won me over long ago with her Cricket Creek series, so I was eager to read an advance copy of the newest Haven Point book. I know I can count on her for sweet, uplifting, heart felt romance and this book was every bit as good as I had anticipated. The small-town setting charmed me and the storyline captivated me. The secondary characters warmed my heart but the main characters stole it. If you’re looking for a wholesome romance with a little humor and a lot of heart, you’ll love this wonderful feel-good read!

Dani Capelli has come to Haven Point to start over but lives in fear that her past will drag her and her children down. I liked Dani's background. She worked hard to first get a college degree and then to go to school to be a vet. This has all the elements of a good romance. Our hero, Ruben Morales, is Dani's next door neighbor. He is a police officer and attracted to Dani. The two start to get close when Dani's fear of her past makes her back off. Ruben just does not give up. Add a teenager and a six year old to the mix and you have more possibilities for action. Good addition to the series.

I received a free copy of the book in return for an honest review.

Running from her past and wanting a better future for her daughters, Dani Capelli jumps at the chance to move away from the big city to work at a veterinary clinic with the option to buy after her first year. Life is finally starting to turn around for her little family, but the gorgeous cop next door and the trouble her teenage daughter keeps finding are definitely putting a glitch in her plans. Struggling to keep it all together, resist her new next-door neighbor, and keep her daughter from getting into more trouble, Dani must come to terms with her own worth or risk losing it all.

A delightful read about second chances and making a family. Dani has pulled herself up, put herself through vet school (quite an accomplishment) and now she's moved her two girls Mia and Silver to a small town in Idaho for a vet residency and the possibility of buying the practice. Wow. Silver is at that age- you know the one- where nothing is right and now she's gone from the city to Haven Point so of course she's going to get into trouble (not bad trouble but trouble nonetheless.). Dani has enough on her mind that she doesn't want to deal with her attraction to her neighbor Ruben Morales, a Deputy Sheriff who is also the son of her boss. But, as can be expected, things aren't that simple. There are enough wiggles in this plot to keep you turning pages and the relationships are well done. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. I'd not read this series before which I understand is meshed rather than sequential (yay for that!). I very much enjoyed this and will look for Thayne in the future.

Grab a box of tissues and enjoy. A sweet romance. Mother and two girls move to small town. trying to leave the sins of their father behind. Adorable dogs and loving family relationships, even when strained, add heart to the story.

First, I must call attention to the absolutely gorgeous cover of this book. From the raised sparkles and printing on the front of it to the classy deckled edges of the pages, this book is a pure delight. Then, when I opened it and found myself back in Haven Point for another of RaeAnne Thayne’s fantastic Christmas stories, it was like being with family and friends. Thayne is a master at capturing the essence of small-town living and populating her stories with realistic, caring, engaging characters.

Ruben Morales and Dani Capelli are the main characters in Season of Wonder, and it was such fun to meet them and see their relationship grow and develop. I loved how caring Ruben was with Dani’s two girls and how he related to them so well. He was such a tender, loving hero.

This book is part of an ongoing series, but it can easily be read as a stand-alone. It was fun to see characters from Thayne’s previous books in the series pop up in this story. This author is one of my favorites. Her books are well-written and easy to read and immerse myself in. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys small town romances.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy from the publisher/NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
