The artwork, especially the color, blew me away. I also liked the rhyming story text. Such a perfect combination in a kids book.

This lovely story is about animals gathering for an autumn ball. A time to be with friends and celebrate the change of seasons. The author adds information at the end on what a windfall is, and why we use it in common speech. She also includes some information about the illustrations and story representing her Wisconsin home. It's a pleasant story, and the illustrations seem old fashioned and homey. Just right for a brisk winter to wind to roll in.
