Advance Praise

"A sometimes dark, sometimes steamy read, fun adventure with a paranormal romance thrown in" ; "I love paranormal more than any other genre and this book just affirmed my love even more. Non stop action with a lovely HEA. Chloe has to be one of my all time favorite bad@ss's with a heart of gold. Ethan, her boss is the only one to see the good in Chloe, that she was worth saving and an asset to The Bureau. Trouble seems to always follow the lovely half vamp so protecting her seems to be a full time job.
Loved the interaction between Chloe and Ethan that lead to the slow build of attraction and some smoking hot moments. "

A big thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. First time reading this author. This is a paranormal romance. Chloe is always getting in trouble, some of it because she doesn't follow direction! Ethan is her hunky boss with secrets. A cute story, fun and worth the read. I really liked some of the characters. I think most paranormal romance readers will enjoy. There are quite a few editing errors. I rate this a 3.5.

4 1/2 Star Review....

Tall, Dark & Deadly is my first read by Kharma Kelley and also the first book in the Agents of the Bureau series. As a lover of the Vampire genre, requesting this book from NetGalley was a no brainer, and I’m so glad I did!

With a fast-paced plot, fun moments and some sizzling heat; there really isn’t anything not to enjoy about this fabulous story. It’s also refreshing that the naughty element of the character portrayal is the female and not the male lead; and Chloe Hunter is definitely not your good girl heroine. As Dhampir (a Vampire hybrid), she has all the usual Vampire strengths, but none of their weaknesses. So after many years of ending up on the wrong side of the law, she’s finally been brought to heel. But with all good things come conditions, and the conditions of Chloe’s escape from incarceration, are to serve the founder of The Bureau, Ethan Raines, by others who break the supernatural laws.

This is a wonderful PNR and I for one will be anxiously awaiting the next exciting instalment in Ms Kelley’s new series!

Shades of Buffy. Another kick ass heroine on the prowl. Chloë is a bad girl gone good. As a Dhampir, she has all the strengths and none of the weaknesses of a vampire. Drinks blood but a cheeseburger would be better. Her old gang wants to use her for their own vile purposes but she has a job with the Bureau and gone straight. Meet Ethan Raines, her gorgeous boss with secrets of his own. I absolutely adored this book from the first to the last . It was fun and sexy. I want to read more from this author. I received this book from Net Galley for an honest review.

What can I say about this book?

It was super good. I liked the main character, Chloe with her spunky attitude and her Jimmies. I love Ethan and his Clark Kent meets sex god ways. The way the world is built in this story was pretty darn awesome too.

I want more of their story though! They definitely need their own sequel or prequel of their back story!

This was a super fun read that I couldn't put down. I loved the main character, Chloe, who was a total badass with super powers. I also loved her love interest, Ethan, and all his secret hidden powers. I loved how Chloe befriended supes (supernaturals) who others always avoided, like her friend, the soul sucker! This book had some mystery, humor, and steamy sex scenes. I would definitely read more books featuring other characters from this book!

Chloe Hunter is on work release thanks to her sexy boss Ethan Raines. Incarcerated by the Bureau after a century of running with the Boyette brothers she knows The Bureau would rather see her at the end of a wooden stake. When Chloe gets dragged into her old gang’s deadly plans, Ethan is the only one who can help her.
Ethan Raines is a man with many secrets. Instrumental in the creation of the Bureau, his main goal is to keep the peace between the various supernatural factions. When Chloe is drawn in to a plot to kill the Fae, he wastes no time in cutting ties with the Bureau to save her.
I read this book in one sitting, I couldn’t wait to see how it ends. The characters are well developed and engaging, the dialogue is witty, and the plot is fast paced. The relationship is a slow build with a perfect blend of angst and passion.
If you have a few hours to spare, then this is a book to get lost in.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. For more reviews please visit my blog:

I liked this book especially Ethan. It was a fun twist on the usual vampire books. This author's writing style is a little different and I felt it could use some refining, but all in all an enjoyable read.

So, what did I like about it?
I found Kharma Kelley’s writing style to be breezy with a good dose of sarcasm and enjoyed the inclusion of pop culture quotes and shows making this a very easy book to read.

I love stories that highlight the fact that we all have choices and that the choices we make not only affect us but those around us too. Sometimes, the hardest thing is to take personal responsibility for those choices we make.

As Tall, Dark & Deadly is the first book in a new series, I understand that it’s a fine balance between imparting information and pace of plot. Ms Kelley has built a complex paranormal world filled with vampires, shapeshifters, goblins, demons and various species of Fae, many of which will be very familiar to existing fans of paranormal romance and urban fantasy genres. She has created an interesting history spanning millennia as well as a system of governance for the supernatural world which includes The Bureau who oversee the laws that every supernatural species has to adhere to. I’m intrigued to see where she’ll take us next and learning more about this world and how it works in subsequent books.

I really enjoyed Tall, Dark & Deadly; the relationship development, the adventure, the twists and surprises turned this story from a good book to a really good one, not to mention the passionate, erotic sex. Oh my! How can so few pages make me go from titillated to excited and adrenaline pumped to blubbering like a baby?! There is a nice little epilogue to finish this story off too which I enjoyed plus there’s the blurb about book 2 "Nocturnally Yours" which is coming out later this year right at the end. These characters have found a place in my heart so I will be looking out for it with hawk-like attention.

So, ummm, was there anything I disliked about it?
Now, I’ve got to be honest, yes I gave this book a 5 star (I loved it) rating but to begin with I didn’t like our heroine, Chloë Hunter. She was too gung-ho, seeming to lack the level of intelligence that I look for in a female lead and had to be rescued on numerous occasions from situations that were of a direct consequence of her thoughtless actions (*tut* I hate that!). However, I’m glad that I persevered because as the story continued, Ms Kelley gave us insights into Chloë’s history - the life she’d lead, the choices she’d had to make – that forged her into the adult she became. Ms Kelley also used Chloë’s new second-chance as an analyst with the Bureau as a way to develop her character and grow. I found myself seeing her with new eyes as I continued to read and did a complete 180° - Chloë earned my respect and won my heart.

So, basically what I’m saying is...
After a shaky start, I ended up really loving this action-packed, emotional, passionate, and sometimes dark, paranormal romance novel.

Due to the graphic violence and sexual content, I’m rating this book 18+ and so I’d recommend Tall, Dark & Deadly to adults who aren’t offended by content of this nature who like hunky heroes with a dark edge and enjoy seeing the female lead character really grow and come into their own within a relationship/romance tale that has some gritty story-lines and oodles of passion.

This is my first book by this author but I will be sure to look for more. I especially enjoyed the plotting and the character interactions. Chloe was a breath of fresh air- funny, rebellious and sarcastic-and Ethan was more complex than first appeared. I enjoyed reading their evolving relationship. A thoroughly enjoyable book.
My thanks to NetGalley for providing me with an arc in exchange for my honest review.

Tall Dark & Deadly is my first time reading a book by Kharma Kelley. I enjoy a good paranormal read and this book was no exception.
It was fast paced with enough action to please anyone who likes actions. Chloe Hunter is not your everyday heroine she does not follow orders is always getting into one jam after another. Being a cross between a vampire and a human give her a bit of an edge when dealing with the bad guys. Having many years of being a bad guy herself she is now working with the Bureau, that comes with conditions and a smoking hot boss. Chloe keeps breaking the rules that allowed her to be out of incarceration. Ethan Raines, her boss keeps getting her out of self-inflicted jams.
This is a wonderful read, it ticks all the boxes for action, suspense, and romance. If you are a fan of Vampires, Fae, Shifters, and the occasional demon or dragon this is a must-read.

Chloe thought of how she totally messed up by listening to Eddie and he had darted her with a tranquilizer. Eddie was a vampire. Chloe was a vampire hybrid- a dhampir which meant she was a rare creature with vampire strengths but none of their weaknesses such as a sensitivity to silver and sunlight But it also makes her a target for naughty little vamps who needed to circumvent some natural defenses. Dhampirs are considered very dangerous as they were typically a part of a witches bloodline. That gave them an extra bonus gift like necromancy or telekinesis. They were very rare to be conceived, even rarer to survive birth. Chloe now worked for the Bureau after being caught for what she had done in her past as she had a bad past and had always felt like a freak. She had been locked up on Level 6 and was suppose to be given eternal death but her bss Ethan asked for her release on a work release program with a lot of rules with her special traits which she had been on the past three months. Ethan had also seen Chloe’s humanity. Ethan knew all too well about the feeling of isolation, of being different. Getting through to her to trust him was growing in priority. Chloe had kicked Eddie out of her life about fifty years ago, she had belonged to his and his brothers gang if rogue vampires called the Boyette Brothers. Maybe if she had left Eddie sooner she wouldn’t have been reaping the stigmy of their association even now. Seeing Eddie only reminded of the kind of garbage she had been through in the past and how it always seemed to find her. Eddie hadn’t been on any one’s radar in a long time and no one seemed to care about him. Eddie had used E-19 to drug hloe then he had her dig for a box of silver but she refused to help him open it and was going to kill her but Ethan came and killed Eddie and saved Chloe. E than knew the box was from the fae and old he contacted a coworker who confirmed it was a box of Woe and Chloe said she would go to talk to Alistair/Al and see why they wanted the box her system but at daylight Chloe went and was captured by Al after she went to confront him Ethan again came and got her where she had been hanging in a dark room. When Chloe came to from a bad dream her head was pounding and Ethan came in. Chloe felt bad she hadn’t listened to Ethan as he didn’t ask much and he had to answer to the Bureau for her actions. She doesn’t know deep down Ethan is very attracted to her. Ethan, though insanely prognostic and her boss was as close a friend as Chloe had. Chloe knew Ethan met what he said, he wasn’t using her. He wanted to protect her from herself. Everything Ethan had done, despite her wayward behaviour, had been to give her a second chance at redeeming herself. He seemed to be the only being who wasn’t trying to get something out of her. Chloe knew the deal Alstaire/Al had put before her and Chloe would rather die than betray the Bureau and the man who had given her a second chance. Chloe also decided she would never let the Boyette's use her again. It felt bizarre yet comforting to have Chloe in his home, curled up on his sofa Ethan wasn’t used to company but she seemed to fit in. Ethan was three thousand years old and an Ancient but other Ancients didn’t behave like Ethan. Chloe was very attracted to Ethan. Then Ethan decides to come up with a plan of taking down the Boyette's keeping the box locked safely away but the mission goes sideways. And they went on the run together. While on the run Ethan is finding it harder and harder to fight his attraction to Chloe.
I enjoyed this book. I loved Chloe and Ethan together. I really loved how Ethan had seen the humanity in Chloe and felt she was worth getting a second chance. I really liked how Ethan and Chloe interacted. I also really liked how Ethan was always rescuing Chloe and finally when she came clear about the deal with Al he proceeded t make a plan make everything come out right and keeping it from the Bureau. I liked the pace and plot a lot. I also chuckled at times while reading this. I liked that the author showed us about Chloe’s past and choices she had made. I didn’t want to put this down as I wanted to see what was going to happen next. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I recommend.

From the beginning I love Chloë! She is spunky, sarcastic & dangerous! She is also all about the ends justifies the means and asking for forgiveness instead of permission. My kind of girl!

Ethan is stuff, bossy and totally by the books. She is her boss and despite being super hot she is off-limits and obviously not interested, right?

See what evil comes about and where things go with this well written story!

Can these polar opposites come together?

Great start for this series. Smart and full of attitude, my favorite kind of heroin. Can't wait for the next one.
