Description

From the New York Times best-selling author of DEFCON One, Joe Weber, and R. J. Pineiro, the acclaimed author of Without Mercy, comes a new novel of global terrorism and international conflict.

The unthinkable has happened. The United States is under attack. From the sea and the sky, the devastating attacks come, crippling the US military's ability to respond. Thousands have been killed and injured.

For President Cord Macklin, this is the greatest challenge of his life. Greater than risking his life in the skies over Vietnam and greater than guiding the country through some of the most trying times in its history. But none has been more trying than this.

Below the sea, a predator stalks the pride of America's Navy: its aircraft carriers. Deadly and silent, this killer seems able to elude all efforts to find it.

In the skies over the Pacific, a belligerent China flexes its muscles, seeing an opportunity to exploit America's sudden vulnerability. As Chinese and American fighters play a deadly game of chicken high above the US fleet, one wrong move could plunge the world into war.

Behind all of it, a Saudi prince and a rogue Chinese general pull the strings of their many puppets, acting in concert to achieve their joint goal: the crippling of the United States of America.

Yet the greatest threat remains to be seen. Can the president and his cabinet defuse the situation? Can a top-secret team of spies and Navy SEALs find and stop the perpetrators before the very balance of global power shifts?

From Asia to the Middle East, America finds herself at war, stretched thinner than she has ever been.

Ashes of Victory is a fast-paced modern warfare thriller written by authors Joe Weber and R. J.. Pineiro. This is a lengthy book with a lot of military jargon. It is such a fascinating story that I stayed up all night to finish it. Thanks to NetGalley and Endpapers Press for the advance copy. I highly recommend it.

This is a really well written book. For those who miss Clancy and his books, this is in a similar vein. The United States aircraft carriers are being targeted .but by whom? President Macklin and the Unites States military are on the verge of World War III. I can't recommend this book highly enough. Please buy this and enjoy an author who gets it done.
Thank you to Endpapers Press , Ignition Books and Netgalley for an advanced copy for an honest review.

Simply OUTSTANDING ! This novel should scare the living daylights out of you. Joe Weber's finest work! I have read all of his military aviation novels over the years and with out a doubt this is his finest work to date. I truly hope that the enemies of the USA do not read this fictional story and decide to try the concept of this story in real life. As ex military myself, China has always been my biggest fear, not Russia. The story line is entirely plausible. Well Done Mr Webber, WELL DONE!!

If you like Stephen Coonts, Patrick Robinson, or Tom Clancy, add Joe Weber to your reading list. Mr Weber’s latest novel is “Ashes of Victory”. The book follows the American military as it battles all the usual suspects. The villains include; the Chinese, the Iranians, the Syrians, the Russians, and radical Islam. Weber includes strong female characters in his books, and this one is no exception. This story has that “ ripped from the headlines “ feel of some of Oliver North’s works of fiction. If you like thriller military fiction that is technically accurate, “Ashes Of Victory “ is for you.

An extremely well done and documented novel about war in the near future. The authors are conversant with the computer driven weapons of the future and describe the combat in clear enough terms for any reader to realize the future of combat when computers will be used to point, aim and shoot at an enemy that may not be within sight
U.S. President Cord Macklin has flown planes against enemies of the U.S. during the Vietnam war but now faces the greatest challenge of his career in directing against invasion from unknown foes. A Saudi Prince and a rogue Chinese general are pulling the strings in directing strikes against the U.S. Their goal - crippling America. Beneath the seas a Predator attack U.S. aircraft carriers with success and seems to be unstoppable while Chinese aircraft take on American fighters.
Descriptions of the attacks and fighting are as real as can be and the reader will find his or herself astounded at the near term methods of combat. The discovery of who is the enemy and counterattacking them is also a study of a dangerous future should actual military action ever occur.
