Description

It’s hell in the ER, but Army veteran Dr. Rick Hauser wouldn’t work anywhere else. The hardened combat medic thinks he’s seen it all.  Until she storms into his life.

Amelia Pennington is not just a pretty face. She’s a time-traveler. A medical student from 1895, forced to flee a madman. She’s been in trouble before, but this time everything she loves is at risk. Can a reluctant hero be the key she’s searching for?

What’s left of Hauser’s heart is still on the battlefield. Last thing he needs is to get tangled up with a mystery woman. But when he finds Amelia on the streets, he ignores the warning shots firing off in his head and takes her home. In less than twenty-four hours, she’s upended his self-protected world. Even his dog, Rocky, is in love.

LOVED THIS TIME TRAVEL ROMANCE! Using Rune Stones to jump through time Amelia Pennington travels from 1895 to a modern day world that offers her women equality. But before she makes this leap she is attached by evil bent on destroying the fragile environment and Amelia herself. Hills intertwined characters with skill and writes in an entertaining way. LOOKING FORWARD TO READING MORE IN THIS TIME TRAVEL JOURNEY SERIES! "A copy of this book was provided by Wild Rose Press Inc. via Netgalley with no requirements for a review. Comments here are my honest opinion."

Army veteran Dr. Rick Hauser is struggling with ptsd and is stuck working in the Er on Halloween. Intrigued by a woman in the waiting room the last thing he expected was to find her sleeping on a doorstop the next morning. He takes her home with him but when it comes time for her to leave he is reluctant to see her go.
Amelia Pennington longed to be a doctor but for high society women in 1895 it wasn’t easy. Her family has been targeted by supernatural forces before and when she finds herself fleeing a mad man she uses a mystical rune to travel to modern day Boston.
Torn between her own time and Rick’s, Amelia must decide whether she gives up everything she has ever known.
The characters are well developed and engaging, the dialogue is witty, and the plot is intriguing. The relationship is a slow build with a perfect blend of angst and passion. I would recommend this book.

So does this mean Sam and her husband have time-traveled? Or did the house just creep them out?

Who brings an axe to a knife fight? Remind me never to need the ER on Halloween.

I've lived near the city all my life. I've taken the subway exactly once.

She's not really freaking out.

This is like "Timeline" meets "Kate & Leopold."

I feel sorry for her mother, so cold and unfeeling.

The library would have been my first stop.

I love you, Murph.

Poor thing. I guess a lot of military men miss important moments, both happy and sad.

Nice father they've got. Not.

Freaky.

I love how practically everyone they know has some supernatural connection of some sort.

The train was so much better then.

Who time-travels on purpose without money?

Now who's addicted to time-travel?

Mother-fluffer! Nooo!

Yeah! A time-travel series, with romance, that makes sense. A great story with quick-pacing and characters you care about.

I received a copy from NetGalley; this is my honest review. #HellfireAndHandbaskets #NetGalley
-Rick and Amelia help each other out with their nightmares. I loved all the interaction with Rocky too (the service dog for PTSD).
-It would be better to read book #1 before reading this one and on with the other books; it's sort of a serial - you get the front story but there's a sideline story behind that leaves you in a cliffhanger.
-Great story, lots of actions. There are not many dull moments. Many descriptions of building, clothing, culture. Historical moments or places.
-Two things left me puzzled. 1. When Amelia first arrived in Rick's world, all she wants to do is explain something to the doctor in charge. When she get said doctor's attention and he invites her for breakfast she doesn't explain anything at all. 2. They both go back in time and come back to the present day without being married. How come her brother and/or mother didn't insist them being married before going back to living together again?
