Description

Elena Popov would do anything for her ruthless father—including assassinate Viktor Sokolov, her best friend Alexandra’s husband. She’ll have no problem with this request, in fact, as Alexandra was forced to marry him. Elena will simply be rescuing her friend from a cruel mob boss.

Pretending she’s defecting, Elena heads to the Sokolov compound, escorted by the most maddening and distracting man she’s ever met. It’s almost as if Roman Garinovich was created just to get under her skin. Still, Elena won’t let Roman stop her from completing her deadly task. There’s just one hitch: Alexandra really loves Viktor, and killing him will crush her. Torn between her loyalty to her father and her best friend, Elena continues to plot, trying to ignore the growing instinct telling her to spare Viktor’s life—and also working to ignore her growing attraction to Roman.

Roman doesn’t believe a word that comes out of Elena’s mouth, however, and he’s not about to let his guard down around her. Deep in his gut, he knows something’s not right about her story… but that doesn’t stop him from acting on his unwelcome attraction to her. Even as he lets Elena into his heart, though, he knows she’s not all that she seems. When he discovers her true reason for being in the Sokolov compound, he’ll have to choose between the woman he loves and his deep loyalty to his friend.
As danger swirls around Elena and Roman, the question becomes whether they can learn to trust not only each other, but what’s in their hearts.

Leslie North is the pen name for a critically-acclaimed author of women's contemporary romance and fiction. The anonymity gives her the perfect opportunity to paint with her full artistic palette, especially in the romance and erotic fantasy genres.

The truth of the matter is she loves her fictional persona, Leslie North, more than her normal, day-to-day persona! Her bestselling books focus on strong characters and particularly women who aren't afraid to challenge an alpha male. Inspired after years of travel, her stories are set all over the world, from the tough streets of Russia to the beautiful beaches of the middle east.

Leslie fell in love with romance when she first picked up a scrappy, dog-eared romance book from her local library. She began writing soon after and the rest, as they say, was history. She now lives in a cozy cottage on the British coast and enjoys taking long walks with her two Dalmatians, George and Fergie.

“It is either given entirely and freely when owed, or not at all. There’s no in-between, only loyalty or disloyalty,”

This series continues to show us that loyalty to the family is regardless of blood or not. You are either seen as a betrayer of family. There is no gray area.

“Something happened in there, and you’re lashing out. It’s okay to be upset—what isn’t okay is to lash out at those trying to help you.”

What happens when you let someone inside that you thought you could trust? What happens when you fall for the enemy? Can you stay loyal to the family or will you let lust win over? What happens when you question who is loyal to you?

“She was going to steal her best friend’s happily ever after at the same time that she destroyed her own.”

A new character is briefly mentioned at the end and I can’t wait to dig into his story. I think it’s going to be fun watching this young, stubborn man get brought down a peg~hopefully by a woman and not the family. Watch that angst turn into something swoon worthy in Saving the Russian Enforcer, book three of the Sokolov Brothers.

Loved reading the amazing and outstanding second book in the Sokolov Brothers series. When Elena Popov's goes to stay with her best friend, Alexandra, and her husband, Victor, Elena is finding it getting more and more difficult to not fall for Victor's right hand man, best friend, and chiffonier, Roman, and to do what her father wants her to do, kill Victor. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, engaging story with captivating characters, and a must read love story.

A great 5 Star Read !!! ARC received c/o NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Opinions expressed are my own....

This is book 2 in this series - ❤️❤️ It !! Roman is sent to pick up a package in Boston & it’s Elena Popov !! Elena is as snarky as she is beautiful & while Roman is very attracted to her immediately he doesn’t trust her & feels she has an ulterior motive. Elena has been sent by her father to assasinate her best friend Alexendar’s husband Viktor. It appears she would do anything for her ruthless father until she learns the one secret he has been keeping from her family she just can’t forgive ...

As with all Leslie North’s book this is a quick one sitting read!! Love the Russian Mobster storyline - with a great HEA!!

Great read to curl up with !!

The second book in the new series, and now Elena Popov, Alexandrea’s best friend. Now Elena’s father wants her to pretend that she is defecting in order to get close to Viktor her best friend’s husband and enemy of Elena’s father. Roman Garinovich has thought that Elena is a pain since the first day he met her. Now being asked to go get her from Russia and bring her back to Boston he knows she is. He also knows that when she is asleep with her mouth closed she is a gorgeous women, even when she is talking back to him she is gorgeous as well. After she helps him with a problem with the plane during the flight, you would think he would begin to trust her. He would like to but when he sees someone he knows from the Russian Army he must tell her he knows something about her father and a secret he has kept from her for years. This secret not only bounds her with Roman but ends all contact she has from her father. A very good story after a good first book. I really liked the two main characters.
