Description

I was six when Darcy Patrick moved next door.

By the time we were eight, we were best friends.

At fifteen, I gave a classmate a black eye for calling her names.

At sixteen, she talked me through asking my crush to prom.

I helped her get over her first heartbreak at nineteen.

Two years later, she returned the favor.

It wasn’t until I was twenty-nine I realized I loved her.

And because I was too stupid to do anything about it,

at thirty, I lost her for good on a dare.

Darcy Patrick is tried of watching her best friend, Elliott Taber, date the wrong kind of woman. When his latest flavor of the month walks out on him, she dares him to let her find his next date.

Elliott agrees, but only after Darcy agrees to allow him to do the same.

The dare is on.

The dates take place on the same night. One is an epic fail. The other is just plain epic.

Elliott isn’t prepared for the onslaught of emotions hitting him as Darcy seemingly finds everything she ever wanted with the man he set her up with. He should be happy for her. He should leave her alone. But he can’t.

So he makes one more dare….

I was six when Darcy Patrick moved next door.

By the time we were eight, we were best friends.

At fifteen, I gave a classmate a black eye for calling her names.

At sixteen, she talked me through...

I thought this was a really cute, fast read. I liked both heroes. Elliot discovers he is in love with his best friend Darcy and is too scared to tell her instead he hooks her up with a friend of his who ends up being the kind of guy who Darcy would fall for. I mean the guy takes her to pass out P&j to the homeless for gods sakes! The guy is perfect but Darcy figures out pretty early on that he’s not the one.
There is plenty of angst in this story. I feel for Elliot because he has to watch Darcy hang out with another guy . I’m glad he finally figures out that he needs to fight for Darcy and show her that their friendship will survive sex. Loved it, great story.

I have read almost everything Tara Sue Me has written, so this was an obvious click for me, and as usual I was not disappointed. I have a real sweet spot for friends to lovers romance but I often find them too dramatized and woe is me on one side. I loved the little twist on this story, I loved that we knew from the off that our hero was in love with our heroine. I didn't think the story was drawn out, nor was there any ridiculous drama keeping them apart for too long. It was very clever, very witty, and the ending was very, very sweet. Very interesting to not that there seems to be a follow up to this story. I know full well that Tara Sue Me has erotic romance down pat, but this was a lovely addition to her catalogue and I am looking forward to reading more in this genre from her.
I was given an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Many thanks.

The Date Dare
by Tara Sue Me

This was my first read by Tara and it was a sweet, fun, romantic friends to lovers story. This is a quick read and if this is your trope you will definitely enjoy this one.

Elliot and Darcy has been best friends for more than 20 years. They have been each others support and confort for so long and there’s no way they can be without been part of each others life. They want to make each other happy and help each other find THE ONE because that’s what best friends do right? What they do? Make a bet to see who can find the other perfect match. What Elliot wasn’t counting on was that Darcy will actually find his choice to be as perfect as he thought and it’s in risk to lose the woman he finally accepted he love more than anything and can’t live without. Imagine all the fun and plotting this two will do.

So yes fun and sexy with The Date Dare was a great way to start my reading week. Thanks to Netgalley for providing this book.

Decided to grab this one as is sounded like a great read. Have not read this author before and must say I was surprised with how quick this one sucked me in. This was a cute fast read that I thoroughly enjoyed. Really loved the dynamic the author built between Elliott and Darcy.

The flow of this one was really good, loved the banter between the two main characters. Really loved Elliott's character.

Will definitely be checking out this author for some new reads

This was a great short read that I finished quickly ,not only because it was short but it was an engaging story.Elliott and Darcy have been friends for ages ,only to discover one has fallen in love with the unsuspecting other person, and the ensuing feelings and events pull you into cheering for a positive outcome. The fact that Elliott was sidelined because of his own actions and is forced to watch things unfold is comical in its own way, but you fall in love with him and can't help hoping he gets his own desire. The female protagonist Darcy is portrayed as a strong ,independent woman who has no problem speaking her mind when warranted and I found this an admirable trait. This won't be my last read from this author, looking forward to reading more of her stories. Thanks Netgalley for this ARC.

I loved seeing this fun and flirty side from Ms. Sue Me. Darcy and Elliott have been best friends forever…but Elliott is hiding something from her. He’s in love with Darcy and doesn’t know how to tell her. So of course the logical thing would be to agree to set the other up on a date. What could go wrong??!! This was a quick, light and sweet read and I can’t wait for the next book. I’m dying to know HOW those two get together.

A wonderful story about two friends who love each other but are scared to admit it. What will it take to make Darcy and Elliott realize how right they are for each other?
This book has a little romance, a little lust and a great story line.

The Date Dare had me hooked just from its description! I hurriedly put my toddler to sleep and started this book. I finished it in one sitting, however, I must admit it is a short read with only 165 pages.

In the Date Dare, we are introduced to two Best Friends Darcy and Elliott. They have been friends since childhood. Elliott realizes that he is in love with Darcy, but does everything in his power to avoid facing the truth. Unfortunately, that puts us in an awkward romance triangle, because Elliot stupidly pawns her off to Mr. Perfect.

I loved the bickering and back and forth between the characters. I enjoyed the plot, I kind of wish the story was a little longer. I feel as if the ending was a bit rushed. I wish I had more background to Darcy and Elliott's history as friends. I also wish their present relationship leading to the conclusion had more.

However, I do give this book a 4 out of 5 & I highly recommend!

Why are the things we find most important in life, what we take for granted the most? Darcy and Elliott are about to learn the high price of letting go. The Date Dare is another Tara Sue Me gem. This feel good tale is a heartbreaker with an irresistible couple. Elliott and Darcy have always counted on each other to get them through the big stuff. Their friendship has helped them endure heartache, humiliation and so many other milestones in their lives. When their longstanding bond experiences it's first major growing pain, their relationship will never be the same. The Date Dare hits the heart from all sides. From funny bone to broken heart, Elliott and Darcy are an unforgettable breath of fresh air.

Who better to be the love of your life then your best friend. This story is so romantic and feels like the fairy tale everyone wants, aside from those parts where Darcy doesn't know how Elliot is feeling and feels conflicted between him and Tate. But even with that every man in her life makes her feel like she is the most special woman in the world. Who doesn't want that?!

She pretty much knows Elliott better than anyone. And it's the same for him. The only problem is that fear has been preventing him from being completely honest. Seems she knows everything there is to know about Elliott except the woman he fell for. But as always there is a lesson that he will need to learn. Inaction doesn't solve the issue. Maybe she has the same feelings. Maybe progressing from friends to lovers will be as natural for them as hanging out has always been. One thing is for sure, they won't know until they give it a try. This story is an easy read without a lot of conflict. It is great if you need something light to read. A long time coming love story.

3.75 stars-- THE DATE DARE is the first instalment in Tara Sue Me’s contemporary, adult , romance series. This is thirty year old, trainer for the Georgia Storm professional lacrosse team Elliott Taber, and Darcy Patrick’s story line.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Elliott and Darcy) THE DATE DARE follows the friends to lovers relationship between thirty year old, trainer for the Georgia Storm professional lacrosse team Elliott Taber, and Darcy Patrick. Best friends since the age of five, Elliott and Darcy have done everything together except fall in love but fall in love Elliott did, and desperate to prove there may be someone else, Elliott dares Darcy to find each other a date, not expecting Darcy to fall for another man. As Darcy begins to ‘date’ the man with whom Elliott sets her up, Elliott battles between head and heart as he and Darcy grow further apart. What ensues are the back and forth dating experiences of Darcy and Elliott, and the potential fall-out as Elliott struggles to let Darcy know, she is the one.

We are introduced to former professional baseball player Tate Maddox, actress Kara Devine, and Elliott’s sister Carsen Taber. While Tate and Darcy continue to build their relationship, nothing goes according to plans for Elliott Taber. Carsen and Tate’s story line is next in The Date Deal.

The relationship between Elliott and Darcy is a best friends to lovers romance wherein Darcy is oblivious to Elliott’s attraction, and Elliott struggles to tell Darcy the truth. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate.

THE DATE DARE is a cute but predictable story; a sweet, sexy and sassy tale where love is but a friendship away. The premise is spirited; the romance is flirty ; the characters are colorful ,energetic and fun.

First I would like to Thank the author, publisher and NetGalley for providing me with the ARC of this novel for my honest review.

The Date Dare by Tara Sue Me, one of my favorite authors, is a different approach about long time friends wanting to stay best friends and not risk ruining it by trying to become more. I really enjoyed this read, as I have all of her books. It is easy to get into and difficult to stop reading until finished.

I really enjoyed this book. I had read the author's previous BDSM books so this was a BIG change, but a great read. Darcy and Elliott have been best friends since they were 6 years old. Through every up and down they've stuck together as only best friends can. Until one day everything changes. Then a bet is made & friendships are tested. I enjoyed their banter and their genuine affection for each other. It was a really fun read.

Elliot and Darcy were perfect for each other...and Elliot almost let her slip right on through. Tons of laugh out moments. Sweetness and just pure lust was abound in this book and I had a ton of fun reading it. Great story of friends to lovers.

Well written friends to lovers romance

Tara Sue Me's The Date Dare was a compelling read but readers need to be aware a much different steam level them her two previous series.
What isn't different is a story with a compelling romance and wonderful characters. I loved Darcy and Elliot and watching them figure out that their frirndship was shifting to something more was very satisfying. I do think I would have liked it a little earlier only because I loved it when they finally made the crossover to lovers. Secondary character Tate was an interesting addition and I look forward to his story on The Date Deal.
I received an advance reader copy via Netgalley.

So the blurb of the book sounded pretty great and also similar to a different book I read earlier this year. Therefore I was quite curious how Tara Sue Me took the story line and made it her own.
And my expectation were quite wrong. I assumed, we would get to see, how Elliot and Darcy grew up together and fall in love in the past as well as some dating episodes for more or less horrible dates in the present.
Well I got surprised as nothing was like this.
We saw the couple fall in love or pursue their love in the story and decide whether they want to stay friends or become more.
Through alternating told chapters the reader can see into the heads and hearts of either one and get to feel with them.
It was a pretty quick read, but still quite emotional.
Fortunately you don't need to part with the characters yet, as they might have some cameo-appereances in the following book "The Date Deal":

All in all, I enjoyed the ride, it would have been a bit longer.

Thanks to NetGallery and After Six Publishing for providing a review copy.

Elliott and Darcy Had been best friends since Kindergarten so Darcy felt no one knew Elliott as well as she did. But she can’t figure out why he dates the women he does. Darcy will admit Elliott is a hot guy and she has fantasized about him but she would never exchange that for their friendship. Her parents had divorced when Darcy was eleven , Darcy’s dad had died five years ago. Only Elliott had been her steady support through it all. Elliott works with athletes and Darcy worked in the hotel industry. Usually Darcy wasn’t in her home city two weeks out of the month but right now she was staying in Atlanta for an extended time and Elliott would be also as the Storm’s season had just ended. They didn’t have to hide anything from each other but Elliott was. He realized last year at the Charity ball he was in love with Darcy and had not revealed his feelings toward her in any way. Darcy did not let Elliott know how attracted she was to him and fantasized about him. Elliott is meeting Darcy at a restaurant and Darcy realizes this the first time in almost a year Elliott comes without a date. Then Darcy thinks she had the answer Elliott had been dating all the wrong type of women. Elliott already knew this as the woman he wanted to be with was Darcy but he didn’t have the nerve to tell her. Then Darcy decides she wants to set Elliott with a date and he agrees as long as he can do the same for her. Elliott figures he shouldn’t set Darcy up with an egotistical athlete - he couldn’t do that to hard. Then he comes up with Tate Maddox had five great years in baseball then he left professional sports behind him completely. Tate claimed he didn’t like what fame was making him into and he said he didn’t need more money. Tate now runs a sports camp up in the mountains for underprivileged kids. It was probably the most painful thing Elliott had ever done but he calls and talks to Tate and tells him to call Darcy. A week later Darcy calls with the name and number of the woman for Elliott’s date -Kara Devine. Kara was a local actress who was doing some marketing for the hotel chain. Kara’s and Elliott’s date was a disaster but Darcy really enjoyed her date with Tate. Tate is a great person. As Tate and Darcy see each other Darcy senses something isn’t quite right with her being with Tate. Elliott is kicking himself in the butt as he loves Darcy and he has [probably lost her to Tate.
I loved this romance and it really was so sweet. I loved Darcy and Elliott together and how they interacted with each other. I was a little surprised Darcy hadn’t figured out her feelings for Elliott sooner but she didn’t want to lose him either so… This was a predictable romance and yet it didn’t take away from the romance as far as I am concerned. I loved how everyone but Darcy sees how Elliott really feels about her. This was a quick easy romantic read that I read in one setting. I happily found nothing to criticize in this book. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I highly recommend it.

The Date Dare is very much a friends to lovers romance… one that almost slipped past Elliot when he made one fatal dare, and picked the perfect guy for the woman he’s been friends with since childhood, and wants her for his own. Too bad that years of friendship is giving him second and third thoughts. Too bad that this guy is absolutely perfect for Darcy. Too bad for the love he feels for his best friend… unless he steps up and does something drastic about it.

Darcy and Elliot’s story is a quick read. There are no bad guys here, no drama aside from Elliot’s constant dares that backfire on him. I enjoyed their romance, but the actual romance between Darcy and Elliot takes a while to be realized. First we have to get past the perfect guy who really isn’t perfect for Darcy, and get Elliot to dive in and go after the woman he loves. To be frank, I had some issues with Elliot, but I’ll let you make up your own mind about our hero. In all it’s a good story, and I’m certainly looking forward to a sequel with another happy ending… for that not so perfect for Darcy guy.

An enjoyable friends to lovers novel. This is one of my favorite tropes, so have read many books with this theme. This is one of the good ones, with likable characters and a well moving plot that while a little predictable, was still very enjoyable. This book only has one little flashback, which was well written into the story. The only complaint I have of this book is that I would have liked a little more depth to the H&h and a little bit more evidence of their relationship- both friendship and romance. Overall, an enjoyable story. *I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and this is my voluntary and honest review.

This was a fun, quick read. Elliott and Darcy were best friends and had been since childhood. However, Elliott was harboring a secret love for his best friend. They agree to set each other up with their picks of "perfect" dates, and it, of course, backfires. Elliott and Darcy were enjoyable characters, although Elliott was especially lovable being in love with his bestfriend. The flirting/love scenes were very hot.

The Date Dare by Tara Sue Me is a short novel about two best friends, Elliot and and Darcy, who have a wonderful life-long friendship. They both have bad luck in love, so they make a dare to set up each other with a date. Elliot picks the perfect date for Darcy. There is only one problem - Elliot is hopelessly in love with Darcy.
I loved the characters chemistry so much that I found myself wishing the story was longer. They were witty, smart, teasing, and loving. I cheered for each of the main characters as they traversed the waters of being best friends or maybe more. I loved the writing style and look forward to discovering more books by Tara Sue Me.

Cute and laugh out loud funny!!!

This is a cute romance that made me laugh out loud ... Elliott's date was priceless! The banter between Darcy and Elliott is so realistic, that I can just imagine those silly conversations happening. This is my first book by Ms. Me and I was pleasantly surprised because the characters had substance and the storyline was cute but still had lots of steam. But what was up with Tate? I guess we'll find out in the next book.

Elliott isn’t prepared for the onslaught of emotions hitting him as Darcy seemingly finds everything she ever wanted with the man he set her up with. He should be happy for her. He should leave her alone.

I really enjoyed this book and it kept me engrossed throughout. I really loved the characters and the way they interacted with each other. This is a fun, hot, romantic must read book and I would definitely recommend this book to
This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.

Thanks Netgally for letting me read and review.📚💕

Blurb:
Who knew three words held such destructive power? No, not THOSE three words. I'm talking about the evil word trio that's my own personal kryptonite, that stole my best friend, and took away the only woman I've ever loved:
I dare you.

Review, spoilers!!!:
I liked this book, it was a sweat read. I thought the book would finish a bit sooner. The H was to chicken to talk about his feelings with his bestie (with whom he was in love). Afraid of losing their friendship. I mean I get it, but why dare to set each other up, when you both want to be together. Why torture yourself with the knowledge the one you love is dating another person.
I`m sorry for Tate, but I understand that his book is next.

What I liked:
This is a new to me author, I`m always a bit careful then. I liked the book, it`s sweet.
Elliott`s date with Kara was funny, poor girl.

What I didn`t like:
If they would have talked sooner, they would be together sooner. But we wouldn`t have a book then.

Quick and easy read. It was cute and sweet, and if you're looking for a lot of steam you'll be disappointed. But if you just need an afternoon with a smile this is a great way to get it. I liked both of the characters, and especially that Elliot is so clueless.

Darcy and Elliot have been friends since childhood. Their feelings have been platonic for decades, but in a split second Elliot realizes his are more. However, he doesn’t want to risk losing Darcy’s friendship and friend-zones himself, but when a dating dare between them starts to get serious for Darcy, Elliott needs to man up. So how does he find the nerve to tell his best friend he’s in love with her without losing her? Elliott’s about to find out...

Told from a dual POV, Darcy and Elliott had enticing chemistry and a subtle heat I really enjoyed! Elliott’s hesitation and sometimes blundering tactics paired with Darcy’s cluelessness kept me entertained while rooting for Darcy to wake up and smell the coffee, hoping to spare Elliott a little despair. The dating dare itself was actually quite fun, if for no other reason then to light a fire under Elliott’s britches, yet his plan to win Darcy over was adorably sweet and very thoughtful.

I haven’t read Tara Sue Me and was pleasantly surprised by this cute and sexy read! The writing was smooth, the story had substance, and the characters had dimension. With a pinch of turmoil and a heaping handful of steamy chemistry, this was a romance I could savor!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this
