Description
Ana was the curious sort. Always looking for her next book, one that will take her on an adventure that she’d never be able to go on in her real life.
There’s a new store in town, one that carries old relics. Ana finds a diary there and it kindles her desire to write. Little did she know what the diary had in store for her.
Sophie, her best friend, and her boy-toy Jeremy, soon learn what evil is, as the diary takes on a life of its own and things start to happen to the people Ana writes about.
While Ana gets sucked into the power of the diary, Sophie and Jeremy have to find a way to stop her new obsession before more people get hurt.
Will Ana see how treacherous the diary is and the evil with which she has succumbed?

The Diary is a creepy story about a book with some kind of magical powers. The premise is unique and fun. I think middle readers will enjoy this book. It's got action, a little mystery, and it's engaging enough to keep the intrest of the age group. The characters are likeable and relatable. Overall a good read. Thanks to NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review. |

Ana and Sophie are inseperable best friends who find their way into a new store in town "Mystic Wonders". When Ana buys a diary from the store everything at their school starts going crazy. When Ana writes in the diary weird things happen, what could be going on with this diary? I thought this book was very good. I enjoyed reading it and would definitely put it into my library. |

I found this story of Ana, such a great read, right from the very beginning. Her interaction with the diary, just made the story so much more riveting. It was a book, that kept me turning page after page, because I needed to know what happened next. I honestly cannot wait to read the next installment, hopefully very soon. |

Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for this book to review. This was a fun read and a bit creepy at times. You can not go wrong with a story about a written diary that holds its own powers. This book was fun and I found myself not wanting to put I down. Way to go to the author for something very well written and the world was very well defined. There was no guessing at what was going on. I do recommend this read. |

I would like to give a HUGE thank you to the author for giving me the opportunity to read and review this ARC. I'm honored to do this and I thank you again for giving me the chance! So this is a first in an upcoming series. Reading it kind of gave me a Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets vibe - that's my favorite book in the series by the way. Anyway, two girls named Ana and Sophie come across a new shop that has opened. It sells crystals, some dresses, and spell books. Ana comes across this blank book, a diary, and decides to purchase it and record everything going on in her life - like most teenage girls want to do. I certainly did, and I still do to an extent. It seems like everything Ana writes in this diary seems to come true - for instance, wanting her friend to finally stop whining about a boy she likes and asks him out. It's pointed out quite a few times how 'out of character' it was for Sophie to ask a boy out. She describes it as an out of body experience where she was watching herself just simply go up to the the boy and ask him on a date. In a sense of 'be careful what you wish for' in this case it's, 'be careful what you write.' The diary, however, has a mind of its own and it slowly starts to take over Ana. Does anybody else hear Smeegal's voice and wishing that Ana would once say, 'My Precious!'? No? Okay, I'm really that nerdy, but I don't care. I wear it like a badge of honor. I won't lie it say it wasn't a tad but cheesy. Almost like watching some parts of it as a Disney show, at least the ones that include someone falling from a Ferris wheel or getting an allergic reaction. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, because it's not overpowering like the new Disney shows these days are, gag me. The writing style was simplistic and it's one that I liked. It wasn't told from Ana's point of view, which is surprising because most of the YA novels I've read are told from the main character's point of view. It's not a terrible thing, but it's not always the best. In this book, you get more than just Ana's views which is important to a story like this. The ending did, of course, leave a cliffhanger and a small excerpt for the next book in the series. All in all, the book was a quick read for the most part. I like the three main characters of the story and I enjoyed how it was written. Can you imagine finding a diary and it making things you write in it come true? The good will come with bad. |

I saw the cover in one of my online book groups and I knew I wanted to read this one! I'm a sucker for diaries and journals and the creep factor only made me want to read it all the more. Ok, new shop, weird stuff for sale, curious teens. Sounds like a great set up! Ana is curious and always looking for the next book. (sounds like me). She finds a diary. Now who wouldn't want to read it? But there is something about this diary that makes her want to write in it. She does with interesting results. Now wouldn't you want to have what you write happen? You might, right? Ana does, but things take some interesting turns and her friends see startling changes in Ana. Can her friends save her or will Ana be sucked into the diary's evil power? Now it saddens me to see some rather harsh reviews on this book. I don't expect sparkling prose or ward winning writing when I read, but I do expect entertainment. I was entertained and enthralled enough to read this in one sitting and am looking forward to the second book since this one does not end all neatly wrapped up oh no it leaves one wondering and wanting more. So my review is 4 stars for entertainment and fun reading. And I will be looking for book #2. I was thrilled when Netgalley had this at read now, because I downloaded it and was hooked instantly So thanks to Netgalley and the author for the ebook in exchange for an honest review ------#NETGALLEY #THEDIARY back cover review here Ana was the curious sort. I loved the Diary ! I found it to be so interesting and instantly captures you and drags you for the entire ride until the very end ! I loved how while it is a fiction book it seems like it’s real life, you can just imagine having something like this and the evil that would come with that kind of power. I couldn’t get over how the book kept coming back and what it actually meant in the end. I will definitely be continuing this series ! |
