This is a fascinating book with beautiful photographs. The chapters are organized into sections of sun, moon, and stars/planets. Locations throughout the world are described along with their astronomical significance in each of these categories. The text is readable and interesting, with diagrams, drawings, and maps used to help the reader visualize how archeological sites interact with the heavens. The information is presented in a straightforward manner and gives multiple, or even conflicting, interpretations of the astroarchaeology when applicable and without judgment.
I'd recommend this book to anyone with an interest in astronomy and history. This information is presented in such an accessible way that you don't need to be an expert to get a lot out of it.
This was my introduction to archeoastronomy, however I have always thought that ancient places like Stonehenge and the pyramids have a connection to the astronomical sky. It is very detailed and you do get a clearer understanding of these relationships from this book. Well worth the read for anyone interested in either of these interests.
Excellent, concise book with easy to understand details and language. Stunning pictures for demonstration purposes, this book was an absolute delight to read.
I was grateful to receive this ARC from Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion
