The Mermaid Cookbook has whimsical ideas for Mermaid lovers, but great ideas for beach or pool theme parties. Easy to follow recipes that do not require a culinary degree.<br /><br />Cakes, cookies, and candy that can be easily accomplished for bake sales, parties, or impress your co-workers. Fantastic book. Full of wonderful recipes and lots of pictures which makes all the difference to me. Little girls will love this one

Very creative and adorable creations! I would recommend this to anyone with kids at home who love mermaids and baking (or if you are planning a mermaid themed birthday party). I wish there were more pictures of the steps and some of them sound complicated.

The cover and title are what got me and then once you open it... it’s just an seaworthy explosion!

The recipes look easy to follow and they range from easy to difficult. I also love all of the photos that accompany each recipe because it gives you a look at what you *hope* yours will turn out looking just like 😂. I’m most excited to try the Mermaid Purse Mirror Glaze Cake, Jam Clams, and the Mermaid Kisses.

If you’ve got a child obsessed with the sea and/or mermaids, I’d say check it out!

I saw this book and knew immediately that I had to read and review it. I love novelty recipe books like this and needless to say that I was charmed since the very first recipe!

Honestly all of the recipes in this book looked so yummy and were so well put together that it just gave me the urge to cook them all (too bad I’m trying to lose weight RIP). The foods were all really trendy and with the times and I loved every moment of it.

The Mermaid Cookbook is sweet, cute, and colourful. Initially while I was flipping through the recipes, I found my mouth watering – so many of these recipes just look sooo good!

I will admit I do have a weakness for cute food, and The Mermaid Cookbook delivers. The recipes included are ones that try to emulate and encapsulate mermaids – so except a lot of greens, blues, and shells. The Mermaid Cookbook is broken up into nine main categories which feature unique recipes. The sections are:

What is Your Mermaid Name? (I am a proud ‘Moonshine Tide Dancer’)
Cupcakes
Celebration Cakes
Cookies
Bars and Bites
Party Food
Breakfast
Desserts and
Drinks.
Don’t be turned off by the cover and abundance of sweets, the book does include healthy mermaid friendly options 😉 Also the recipes aren’t just for special occasions, you can spruce up your breakfast and start the day with some mermaid magic.

THE COOKBOOK ITSELF:
Ease of Use: The recipes are set out in an easy to read layout and do let you know if you need special equipment at the start of the recipes. Each recipes also has it’s own picture, so you can see the whole mermaid effect.

Formatting:

Recipes: The recipes are set out in an easy to read manner and stay on theme by featuring a little blurb about the mermaid-ness of the food. Every recipe that I tried and had an in-depth look at, was really user friendly and easy to follow.

The ingredients are listed in order of usage and the following instructions are very clear and concise on what is needed to be done.

Book: After the introduction, the book includes a ‘What is Your Mermaid Name’ page, which I thought was really cute and engaging for any kids looking through or cooking from the book.

The recipes are separated into the types of food, with the desserts being separated into cupcakes, cakes, cookies, and it’s own section desserts. The recipes included in the ‘dessert’ section feature ones such a mousse, popsicles, and fruit tarts, so ones that are different from the other typical dessert foods featured in the book.

The back of the book also a ‘Conversions and Equivalent’ section, which is always appreciated when cookbooks are published in the United States of America.

Recommendations: I would really recommend this to people who want to cook with or for children (adults who are children at heart also count). The Mermaid Cookbook is not only full of amazing recipes but they look fabulous! I cannot wait to make the ‘Stormy Sea Brownies’ (pg. 64) and ‘Under the Sea Popsicles’ (pg. 119).

Also if you’re thinking about throwing a mermaid themed party – look now further, The Mermaid Cookbook is an excellent resource! Looking at all the fun recipes had me wanting to throw a mermaid theme party 🧜‍♀️

The Mermaid Cookbook is super cute and has loads of awesome recipes ranging from easy to difficult. The cookbook starts off with a table of contents that breaks down the recipes into sections such as cakes, breakfast, cookies, etcetera. It also includes a page to discover your mermaid name, which I thought was a fun and whimsical touch. I couldn't help but share the beautiful images and cool ideas with my daughter. She loved them all and was thinking maybe we should give her a mermaid party now lol. One of our favorites was the Turtle waffles. So stinking cute! I also enjoyed some of the practical additions to the cookbook, such as the kitchen essentials listed in the beginning and the measurement conversion in the back of the book.

I am in love with themed cookbooks and this is one of the better ones! Unicorns and mermaids are of course very trendy right now (with my daughters on team unicorn, and me on team mermaid) and this book has dozens and dozens of recipes that girls of ALL ages will love. I found the recipes very straightforward and feel like I could make most of these items with relative ease. A few do require some speciality baking items for the more advanced cooks, but I found plenty of recipes that could be done with grocery store bakery ingredients and a bit of food coloring. If you've got a girl (or yourself!) planning a mermaid themed birthday party...get this book!

The glossary of cooking terms and cooking essentials is clear, concise and will help even the most serious cook in the kitchen. From easy to complicated, every recipe has step by step instructions to make desserts, snacks, and yummy treats. As a semi-successful baker, it is nice to see even complicated baked good recipes in a follow along format. I also appreciate the caution taken to remind young readers to seek adult help. I plan on trying a few of these snacks myself! Thank you again.

The mysteries of the deep come to light in this delightful cookbook packed with pearls and sparkles. From a Sandcastle Cake and Turtle Doughnuts to Jam Clams and Treasure Trifle, fulfill all your dreams of becoming a mermaid. Or at least eating like one. Color photographs are paired with easy-to-follow recipes. Besides various desserts (cupcakes, celebration cakes, cookies, and bars and bites), the cookbook also includes party food (i.e. Crispy Starfish Churros), breakfast (i.e. Mermaid Toast), and drinks (i.e. Seaplendid Smoothie) sections. Each recipe also shows estimated time to make and difficulty rating.

What's not to love about this cookbook?! It's so colorful and has great recipes in it. Any child or adult would love this book because it has step by step instructions and tells you the level of difficulty each item. The pictures were great and made me want to start baking right away! I can't wait to own this book and make everything in it.

With the re-release of the Little Mermaid, mermaids along with unicorns are what every little girl wants. I've seen a lot of books that will help parents make the perfect unicorn party but none on mermaids until this particular book. Great ideas and pictures included.

First...this is the cutest recipe book ever! Who doesn't love mermaids? The book is great for young children as well. It begins with a short introduction and a "What's Your Mermaid Name?" page. This really gets the attention of young readers, engaging them before the recipes even began.

The recipes are easy to follow and all look delicious! The images that go along with them are bright and appetizing. If you know someone who loves mermaids and baking, this is a great gift. It makes you want to grab your apron, preheat the oven, and dive right in!

The Mermaid Cookbook is a fun and colorful cookbook for anyone who wishes they could live under the sea. There is a wide range of recipes, from traditional cupcakes and cakes, to cookies, drinks, and other desserts. Some of them look best suited to a fun party perhaps for a child, while others, like the Mermaid's Purse Mirror Glaze Cake and the Jam Clams are quite elegant. Recipe difficulty is noted at the top of each recipe, and pictures of each recipe are featured, as well as some pictures showing techniques. While I was reading it, I felt very eager to go out and get the supplies to make some of the treats. A fun cookbook that offers more than just a specialized set of recipes.

This is a totally fun cookbook with amazing food that looks really yummy. The book has plenty of appealing photos, easy to follow instructions and a great variety of recipes such as cakes, cupcakes and what-not.

This cookbook is fantastic! The mermaid theme is adorable and I am so excited to make these yummy treats for my daughter! The pictures are gorgeous and the recipes are very detailed and include difficulty levels as well. There are goodies for both a beginner baker and more seasoned ones as well! Definitely give it a try if you have a child who loves mermaids or you love them yourself! Excellent ideas for themed parties!!

Alix Carey’s The Mermaid Cookbook is a fun and colourful cookbook filled with clearly detailed mermaid-inspired recipes. While the book features both easy and difficult recipes, beginners should approach with caution because many of the recipes have multiple detailed steps, involve specialty ingredients and require some baking skills.

I absolutely love themed cookbooks and I really enjoyed this one! The book begins with a fun “What is your Mermaid Name?” The book itself is bright, colourful and well-designed. I really appreciate the many full-colour pictures of the finished products.

The book features a wide range of recipes including cakes, cupcakes, drinks, bars and tarts. I would have really liked some savoury recipes because the book is packed with sweet recipes. I haven’t made anything yet but I can’t wait to try the pretty Pearl of the Ocean Macarons and the gorgeous Mermaid’s Purse Mirror Glaze Cake. The recipes are clear, well-detailed and easy-to-follow. I especially like that Carey includes a difficulty rating with each one and informs readers about the extra equipment that they will need. While there are many easy recipes, the book also features a lot of complicated ones that even the most experienced baker may have trouble with.

I also really appreciate that Carey includes a section on kitchen essentials because many of the recipes feature a lot of specialty ingredients and equipment. There’s also a helpful section on conversions and measurements.

The Mermaid Cookbook is a nicely designed themed cookbook filled with a range of clear and well-detailed recipes. The book has both easy and difficult recipes but beginners may have some difficulty tackling many of these recipes. If you love mermaids, baking, and novelty cookbooks, you should definitely check this one out!

Any child would love these edible creations. Each would make a wonderful starting point to engage chilren or adults in the beauty of our oceans and the threat to marine life. I bet they taste as good as they look too!

Absolutely perfect baking book for anyone who loves anything under the sea. At first I was worried this would be more for kids but the complexity and fun of the designs make it great for advanced bakers as well(and it definitely can be fun for kids too). I loved the photography in it as well, my mouth is watering just looking at all these delicacies!

As a grandmother and aunt of several young ladies who love mermaids, the recipes and themed ideas in this book have been a HUGE hit! We have had many tea parties that have all received a 10+ smiles rating! Alix Carey must have known exactly what would make these young ladies happy. She set up the cookbook top be user friendly and gave so many wonderful pictures that my crew has already planned the next round of mermaid celebrations.

Tons of mouth watering, colourful cakes, cookies and even breakfasts. Including a section on party food to help you throw an amazing Mermaid bash. Beautiful photos of the food made me want to try everything!

I was a little nervous at first, because the last few unicorn cookbooks I've found have not quite been what I've been looking for, but this book was exactly what I wanted. Each decoration for the food in this book is under the sea related, and I am soooo excited about making the Mermazing Fudge! Great pictures to help you through each one. There are no caloric breakdowns in this one, but it's pretty easy to pick out which ones are super healthy and which ones...are not quite. Everything looks delicious, and it's not all just cupcakes and cakes (though there are a bunch of those)...there are even some breakfast food ideas that I cannot wait to try (Sea Turtle Waffle!).

This cookbook is definitely every mermaids dream. Especially for those parents planning a Mermaid themed sleepover birthday party. They have everything included from the birthday cake ideas to the morning after breakfast. They have also done a fabulous job breaking the recipes up into different sections, with an easy to use table of contents. As amazing as the recipes are, be prepared thst some of them can take a couple hours from start to finish. There are also a few that call for things to set for up to twenty four hours, so be sure to give yourself time these recipes are not for the impatient. A must have for any ocean lover! This is such a fun and creative cookbook. It has all sorts of delicious recipes inside, from cakes to breakfast to drinks. These creations are perfect for all ages, from a mermaid party to a beach party. Each recipe gives an estimate on the quantity, how long it’s going to take, and gives a difficulty rating. The ingredients and methods are given and easy to follow and understand. Even if you use your own cake recipe, you can still use this nifty book for inspiration on how to decorate it. Recommend this to anyone who has kids, often throws parties, or likes being creative in the kitchen!

This is a really fun cookbook for kids! Lots of pretty easy recipes kids can make, some alone, some with grownup help. I'm looking forward to summer and cooking with grade schoolers- we are going to make lots of these tasty treats!

Little children love make-believe, and mermaids are a popular theme in their make-believe worlds. The Mermaid Cookbook, by Alix Carey, is a perfect primer to bring those make-believe worlds alive. The finished creations are absolutely beautiful ? there are stunning photographs of every recipe ? and it will be difficult for a child to decide which one to start with. There are recipes for cupcakes, cakes, donuts, cookies, and candies, so the choices are vast.

The recipes, while easy-to-follow with clear, concise instructions, are not for children to make on their own; rather, many of the recipes require adult supervision and some even require a baker that has some experience, rather than beginners, since some of the recipes are complicated and have several steps. There are, however, some easy recipes such as Shark Teeth Kabobs (fruit kabobs), Magical Mermaid Rocks (white chocolate swirled with colors topped with mermaid sprinkles), and Mermaid Marshmallow Crispy Bars (Rice Crispy Treats). Seabed Rocky Road is an easy no-bake bar, and it is delicious. Jellyfish Layered Surprise is a striped gelatin concoction that will be especially appealing to kids and can double as a fruity salad at a mermaid buffet.

While the recipes are mostly for sweet treats, there are a few breakfast items such as Mermaid Toast, a Tropical Sea Smoothie Bowl, and excellent Starfish Pancakes. The Turtle Waffles are also adorable and tasty. Although almost every recipe in the book could easily be served as a dessert, there is a dessert chapter with a beautiful blue cheesecake, a decadent Seafoam Mousse, and cool Under the Sea Popsicles. The Coral Fruit Tarts are quite easy to assemble, and are colorful and tasty. Kids seem to love fancy drinks, and there are several ? a Lemonade Float, a beautiful Sealicious Chia Seed Smoothie, and a Mertastic Milkshake to name a few ? all colorful and appealing to both children and adults.

While this delightful cookbook is especially designed for children, the recipes are perfect to use at themed parties and get togethers. While not an essential basic cookbook, this one is a fun addition to any cookbook collection.

The Mermaid Cookbook by Alix Carey is perfect for any mermaid lovers. I was pleasantly surprised that the recipes were fairly simple. The decorating tips made me confident that I could recreate the items. The mermaid toast is fun and easy enough to do anytime. This would be perfect for an impressive mermaid theme party or just for an extra special dessert for the mermaid fans in your life.
