Description

From renowned National Wildlife Federation naturalist and TV host David Mizejewski comes a new book to show you how to create a magical ecosystem right in your backyard! Invite beautiful songbirds, colorful butterflies, buzzing bees, and other fascinating wildlife by nurturing a wildlife habitat garden. With more than 200 high-quality photographs, lists of the best native plants to support wildlife, and 17 gardening projects the whole family can enjoy, from building bird houses to creating garden ponds, Attracting Birds, Butterflies, and Other Backyard Wildlife, Expanded Second Edition is a must-have resource for nature enthusiasts, gardeners, and animal lovers.

Author David Mizejewski, a naturalist with the National Wildlife Federation, presents simple plans for reintroducing native plants that birds, butterflies, and a whole host of critters can't resist. He shows ways to supplement nature to further entice wildlife to your yard and garden, and even provides new information on attracting backyard pollinators—a major issue for environmentalists as bee colonies continue to face challenges.

Mizejewski holds a degree in Human and Natural Ecology from Emory University and has hosted television series on both Animal Planet and NatGeo WILD. He hosted and co-produced the television series Backyard Habitat, which was based on the first edition of this book. David regularly appears on NBC's Today Show and makes dozens of other television, radio, and public appearances each year to promote wildlife conservation through natural gardening. He specializes in urban ecology, the role that native plants have on wildlife populations, and helping people restore wildlife habitat in their cities, towns, neighborhoods, backyards, and gardens.

As a television host, media personality and naturalist with the National Wildlife Federation, Mizejewski has spent his career working toward reconnecting people to the natural world and protecting wildlife. In a world where wildlife populations are sharply declining, Mizejewski wants people to know that there are small steps we can each take right at home to help declining species and to keep common species common!

Get back to nature by learning how to give back to nature, with Attracting Birds, Butterflies, and Other Backyard Wildlife, Expanded Second Edition, created in partnership with the National Wildlife Federation!
