Description
Blake wants out of the family black market business.
But he can't decide how to leave and still maintain the lifestyle he's accustomed to. His father gives him an ultimatum, leave home immediately, and if he wants to win his inheritance, marry within the next five years or lose it all.
Blake accepts and strikes out for the open road. Only one man's name is given as a clue to earning an income. When Blake finds his benefactor, the proposition is far from what he dreamed of. The next few years bring on challenges and angst, but when he meets the love of his life, his character and creativity are put to the ultimate test.
He thinks he's found Miss Right, but stiff competition and an unusual project jeopardize it all. Blake pulls out all the stops, taking bold steps that would leave many speechless. Will he win or return home to his father, defeated?
Inspired by the Danish fable, "The Princess's Birthmarks," The Golden Mark presents a modern, snappy retelling of how a humble man's precarious beginnings push him to the limits when realizing his dreams.

Thanks for the opportunity, Netgalley.com. I loved this book, it was fun, and I've never read a fable book before. In the past, I have read books that conform to a pattern and this book does not do that. I enjoyed reading it very much, and I would love to read it again. It was a great story and I would recommend it to everyone that loves to read about a fairytale type of story. |

I'm a sucker for fairy tale/fable retellings, and this one was no exception. The writing style permitted an extremly quick, enjoyable read. I'm giving a pass for the insta love, considering the retelling aspect. |

I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This book is based on the Danish fable, "The Princess's Birthmarks". It's a modern retelling of a fairytale which I'm a sucker for. I was really intrigued by the premise as well as the gorgeous cover. It was well written and enjoyable. I liked how the author wrote it in a modern yet whimsical style. The characters were likable and relatable. I liked how Blake stayed true to himself and those that he cared for. The story was funny, well written, and enjoyable. Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. |

Beautiful storytelling, and it was truly an unexpected book. I didn't expect to fall in love with the story and feel a deep connection with the characters. This is my favorite Danish retelling, and it was also my first time to ever read a Danish retelling. |
