Life on Earth: Things That Go is a really fun, educational learning experience. It is not simply a book of information. It is full of question flaps, that you can lift to see the answers. I think interactive books are an amazing way to learn and teach! The takeaway is always higher with interactive learning materials.

Colourful and fun this book is fantastic and I will be on the lookout for any in this series for my kids.

Luckily I've seen other books in this series in real life, for it ain't no walk in the park, reviewing a lift-the-flaps book, when half of it – ie the under-flap lifty-up bits – are by design presented upside down. This entry covers parts of boats, the workings of combustion engines, petrol cars, home-made scooters, maglev trains – in brief, everything a good transport book might. You won't be turning to it hundreds of times, and it remains to be seen how the flap lifty-up format would allow the book to survive in a school library, but these are bright and competent deliverers of factoids for the young.

If you are going on a long journey and you need to keep the children entertained and at the same time have the opportunity to increase their knowledge levels then Life on Earth: Things That Go with 100 Questions and 70 Lift-Flaps! by Heather Alexander may be the answer.

This interactive book with its question and answer format looks at all things transport. Aircraft, farm machines, emergency vehicles and trains are just some of the modes of transport covered. Of course I had the disadvantage of having the book in an e-book format and I think that for the child this would only work as a printed book where the child can physically left up the flap to reveal the answers. The graphics are fun and there is enough here to entertain most inquisitive children.

This is a brightly coloured STEM information book that all will love. By chunking information, it makes it easier to lay a foundation of understanding.

Although it is difficult to evaluate the electronic ARC of a lift-the-flap book, this STEM book looks excellent, and I know from personal experience that children LOVE lift-the-flap books and information printed in bite-size bits, so I think this book will be a hit.
