This is cute. A cat texts various people/animals. A few times it was laugh out loud funny. I wish they had gone one step further to format the "phone" so it was obvious who the cat was texting by showing the names with the messages. It would have made it a bit clearer and more visually appealing, especially since they made cute little avatars for each character.

This would be perfect to leave in a waiting room for idle time--quick page-turner that can be opened at any point and understood.

My apologies. I requested this book without realizing it would not be available in Kindle format. I'm giving this five stars because that's how I think I would have rated it, if I had been able to access it in kindle format.

I wish this could have been read on my kindle but that’s ok.

This is like a book you would give someone who loves cats on Xmas! A book of funny meme type things you see on Facebook

*I received this on Net Galley *

When I saw this book pop up on Net Galley, I genuinely squealed. I have been following Angie Bailey and Mittens on Facebook for quite some time and leapt at the chance to read it early. I was not disappointed!

This book follows Mittens the sassy Tuxie as he interacts with those around him such as his mom, his grandmother, the filthy hound (Earl), his next door neighbour Drunk Patty, his best friend Stumpy, and his girlfriend Fiona. Most pages are a story to themselves (through text messages) but some of them will continue for a few pages.

Mittens' obsession about being fancy and also his use of hashtags is always good for a laugh and a pick-me up. This is more of a coffee table book than a book to read all in one sitting but it is so much fun and I always enjoy the things that Mittens does. His bribery of Earl to bribe the squirrels outside was actually laugh out loud funny.

I highly recommend this to anyone that needs a good laugh and especially to everyone that loves cats.

It’s slightly embarrassing to admit that liked this book. #imasuckerforcatjokes. I was expecting a kids book from the looks of the cover. I was expecting some cat illustrations. Newp. Instead, I got humorous cat texts. If you like word humor, goofy autocorrected conversations, and pretentious felines, this book is for you. Some important things confirmed to me by reading this book: grandmas are pushovers, cats like potty humor, cats are arrogant, but more than willing to cave when they want something, and a whole slew of other well known facts. #nothingnewhere #butsomethingsareworthrepeatinganyway.

A couple of my favorite exchanges:

This one is between Mittens and his mom:

Mittens don’t touch the loaf of bread on the counter. It’s for the dinner guests tonight,

There’s a loaf of bread on the counter? That’s certainly relative to my interests, Mother.

Paws off the bread!

I guess you can say your dinner plans have now gone A-rye. LOL.

Not funny.

#sofunny #sotasty

This conversation is between Mittens and his friend, Stumpy:

Mitty, are you awake?
Do you care to accompany me on a midnight ‘nip run?

Stumpy, you know I can’t leave the house. Text me along the way.

Ok, but things might get a little crazy.

What do you mean?

Let’s just say I’ve done a little sampling of the merch. #qualitycontrol

This was a funny read and I could definitely see my cats writing some of these texts! They were spot on and gave me a good chuckle. This book would be a great gift for any cat owner.

Love Cats? Love Texting? Than I am sure you will doubly love this fun laugh aloud book of Mittens the texting cat. Can you only imagine what your life would be like if your demanding felines could actually do this? Fast and cute read that had me laughing out loud was the perfect diversion for a stressful day.

I would like to thank Andrews McMeel Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC of this book.

If you have ever lived with a cat, you will enjoy this next entry in Mittens' saga. Mittens sends texts to his human, his human grandmother, Drunk Patty the neighbor, several feline friends, including his girlfriend, and the family dog.

This is a quick read, and Mittens tends to favor the usual cat activities: eating, playing, and sleeping. He also enjoys watching Judge Judy, and is on his way to knowing quite a lot about legal matters.

There are times I wish my own cats could communicate with me, but usually, I would rather not know what they are thinking. I have a feeling the sarcasm gene is strong in them both!

Angie Bailey's Texts from Mittens: The Friends and Family Editions is a fantastic little book. I love the idea of a cat sending texts and communicating with its friends and family in that way. Some jokes were absolutely funny and some were a bit stretched. However, in its entirety this way incredibly cute and charming.
I can certainly see myself buying this for a friend!
There isn't much more to say since the concept of this book is so simple, yet unique.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

Who doesn’t enjoy getting Texts from Mittens?

Mittens is a typical cat. He has a healthy obsession with boxes and shampoo caps. His girlfriend, Fiona, thinks he is romantic when he suggests her coming up to his cat condo to rub their faces on an old sock together. He suspects his (human) mother is hanging out with her “sketchy raccoon gang friends”. Mittens helpfully suggests boyfriends for her on an online dating website, “How about Jeff? He owns a seafood shop! Great catch! LOL.” His best friend, tomcat and playa Stumpy, may be involved with a catnip trafficking ring. Overall, Mittens is just your typical house kitty...who texts.

While only occasionally laugh-out-loud funny, Texts from Mittens is cute. Many of Mittens’ obsessions will be familiar to cat owners. Garfield fans will recognize Mittens disbelief at the absurdity of roommate, and “filthy hound” Earl, who carries sticks for no reason. This book would make a good gift for the “crazy cat lady” in your life. 4 stars!

Thank you to Andrews McMeel Publishing and NetGalley for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

This books was hilarious. I loved the way that it was written nice short text message exchanges between out lovely kitten hero mittens and his friends and owner. One thing that I found very interesting was that the whole story was written in pictures of cellphones so you could really see the text messages. I've never read a book even close to this before but I really enjoyed it. This is a must read for children or for cat lovers as all of the exchanges really feel as if they are coming for your own pet cat. And the best part is you don't have to read it all in order you can start or stop at any point and you still get the point of the story. I'm glad that I got to check out this book this quick read will lighten any mood.

I used to read Texts from Mittens all the time when it first arrived, but it seemed to have disappeared - or maybe I just haven't been searching for it lately. But as a Cat Daddy to three gorgeous feline daughters, I love the quirky humor, and it was fun to revisit all the old (and some new characters) -I <3 Drunk Patty most. I should have paced myself though, as doing a couple at a time is preferable than binge reading, since they seem to suffer from a bit of 'sameness' that way.

Sincere thanx to Netgalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for the ARC in exchange for this honest review.

Hilarious. If my cat had thumbs, this is what he would text me. Texts from Mittens is like Garfield for the modern age. Texts from Mittens: The Friends and Family Edition, includes conversations in the form of text messages between Mittens the cat and his friends and family.

Mittens, like all cats, is wry, witty, self-centered, and has a lot of CAT-titude!

When I was young, I grew up with Garfield and Friends. Now, instead of Garfield, John, Odie, and Nermal, modern readers have Mittens, Mom, Grandma, Fiona (Mitten’s kitty girlfriend), and Earl (the dog whom Mittens calls #FilthyHound).

The main character is Mittens and the book focuses on how he interacts with his friends and family. I couldn’t stop grinning while I read this book. As I read each exchange between Mittens and his friends, I kept sneaking loving glances at my own feline companion.

I couldn’t stop smiling and sneaking glances at my own feline friend while I read this book!

There is a whole cast of characters in this little book, and conversations between Mittens and his friends range from laugh out loud funny to just plain silly. Like any book of humor, there are some jokes that I found to be funnier than others. While I loved watching the interaction between Mittens and Earl (whom he calls #FilthyHound) I was not particularly amused by the characters “Stumpy,” and “Drunk Patty.” However, I know every one has a different sense of humor and other readers might enjoy those sections.

My favorite conversations occurred between Mittens and his Mom. If you are a person who is owned by a cat (because all cat lovers know that cats don’t have owners, they have staff) then I am certain you will find a lot to love in the relationship that Mittens and his Mom share.

If my cat had thumbs, this is what he would text me!

Although I didn’t care for some of the “cat nip” humor and the character “Drunk Patty,” fell flat for me, the majority of the book left a smile on my face. As I sat reading, I couldn’t shake the feeling that my own cat had somehow lost his cellphone and that I was reading messages that he might have written. If my cat had thumbs, I’m certain this is what he would text me.

I’ve been a little down lately, and this sweet book of animal humor was the happy pick-me-up I needed. I recommend this book for all animal lovers who are in need of a chuckle.

3.75 stars.

Texts from Mittens is a great little novelty/coffee table book that would be relatable to anyone who has owned (or been owned by) a cat. Full of fun shenanigans in the form of text messages between Mittens and his mom, grandma, dog brother and other cats.

If you're looking for a cute book that is sure to make you laugh and you understand the whims of felines, this would be right up your alley. As someone who has a cat and fully accepts that she rules the household, this 100% hit the spot. Many of the portrayed conversations perfectly show some of the more humorous aspects and motivations of cats, especially boxes.

I could probably read these and other text messages like them for days without getting bored. It would be a great book to have and pick a page at random for a quick laugh.

Cat lovers! Hide your phones! Mittens may be leading the feline revolt via his snarky texting! And now that this book is available, his minions may join him in the texting revolution!

In all seriousness, this book was great fun. I enjoyed Mittens and his crazy group of friends and "family." Don't drink anything while reading this book because sometimes it's laugh-out-loud funny and you just might snort your coffee through your nose. (Don't ask me how I know this, just trust me.)

Thank you to Andrews McMeel Publishing and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Text from Mittens are snaps of short conversations between Mittens, Fiona (feline girlfriend), Stumpy (wild feline friend), Earl (dog brother), Mom, Grandma, and a rowdy neighbor, Drunk Patty who owns a turtle pet named Speedy. The relationships and characters really blends well with the conversation between Mittens and whoever he's talking too.

I love the concept but it needs a few tweaks for the jokes or humor to be delivered smoothly. Some texts are just the same. But all in all, it's a pretty funny book that can accompany you anywhere and can give you a few laughs, I mean, it's a cat book. What could go wrong? :)

Have you ever had one of those 3 AM thoughts where you wonder “What if animals could talk?” But hear me out, what if animals could text? 😂

Mittens a typical suave and sassy cat who loves boxes, pizza, fleece, and a lady cat Fiona. Mittens love to text his Mom (who doesn’t want to get up at 4 am to feed him), Grandma (who gives him unlimited ear rubs and likes going to casinos with Drunk Patty), Stumpy (his bestfriend who may or may not be into catnip trafficking), Earl (the goodest dog), and Drunk Patty (a good ‘ol neighbor whose things Mittens like to steal).

I particularly love the mix of puns and personification of cat problems and traits! Like when Mittens panicked over his recent discovery that he’s colorblind or when his phone auto-corrected “mutt” to “nut”, so his mom told him he no longer has those lol. This book is making me want to chat with a sassy cat too lol

Technology and tastes have changed; cats haven't. I was not aware of Angie Bailey's Texts from Mittens comics before reviewing an ARC of this collection, though I follow many comic strip and humor accounts on social media sites. That said, I've corrected that mistake thanks to finding this at NetGalley.

The format is simple: text exchanges from Mittens the cat to other cats, animals, and humans. The graphics mimic a text exchange on most smartphones. There are no other graphics. In the first pages of this book, Bailey provides a list of Mittens' most frequent contacts, including Earl the dog, his neighbor Drunk Patty, his girlfriend Fiona, his devoted human Mama, and his indulgent (but costume-happy) human Grandma. This is extremely helpful when reading these strips, though after enough reading, characters will become established.

Aside from the cell phone access and ability to type, Mittens has fairly normal feline interests--liver treats, reaching things on counters, collecting treasures such as shampoo bottle caps, and Judge Judy. It's classic cat humor. Bailey gives it a somewhat hipper and more adult twist than strips such as Garfield. For instance, Mittens' conversations with his catnip "dealer" bring a mind-altering plant enjoyed by humans to mind, and he does not let being neutered stop him from writing slightly risque texts to Fiona.

This isn't a book to read all at once. Like most comic strip collections, it's best enjoyed a few pages at a time. Multi-strip story arcs are short and infrequent for Mittens and his contacts. This is a nice gift book or diversion for cat lovers, who will find Mittens very recognizable. Don't let it just keep on vibrating--pick it up!

Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

What if your cat could text you?

Texts from Mittens is a brief, amusing book that imagines the life of a cat owner with their feline companion. Some of the dialogue was actually very smart and funny, but in other instances it felt lacking and looked as if the author was trying a bit too much to create something funny where there was actually little room for it.

Nevertheless, it was an amusing short read, one that will appeal especially to all cat fans out there.

When I picked this book up, it was because the cover amused me. I had never seen Bailey's previous Mitten's book. I am so happy that I decided to read it...Laugh out loud funny, I found myself going through the entire thing in one sitting and then reading it a second time. So hunting down the first book now to see what I missed of Mitten's text messages.

Texts from Mittens is based on a cute premise -- what if our pets could communicate with us via text? What would they say to us? Mittens' primary concerns are, of course, about his creature comforts, such as when his next meal or snack time is, and replenishing his toy stash as they disappear after getting batted under the furniture. While not hilariously funny, this book has its moments for pet lovers who are familiar with cattitude.

A book I'm SO excited to read! And why am I excited to read it? Not just cat snark, oh no, it's because I got a digital ARC through NetGalley and they archived it before they said they would and I didn't get to read it!

This edition of Texts from Mittens is a book collection of text message from Mittens the cat to and from friends and family. Just to be clear, this is a sequential art book for more mature audiences because Mittens is not the nicest cat and he tends to be very snarky ...all of the time.

I really enjoyed this book. I mostly picked it up because of the cover, but I was pleasantly surprised. I not only laughed a lot over theses messages, I also read a few aloud to colleagues and my husband, and they too got a kick out of Mitten's craziness. This is a fun book if you are looking to just pick up and put down something easy to read. The sequences are only a few pages at most, and most end with some funny reaction from Mittens. I really enjoyed how snarky he was and then the love that sh tried to show to his girlfriend, a cat named Fiona. It was all a lot of fun and if you like comics like this - note it is all text - then I think you will enjoy this compilation.

Mittens, the irascible texting cat from the internet, is back with another collection of funny and heart-warming tweets to family and friends.

Mittens spends his days texting with Grandma to get treats and toys. He chats with his friend Stumpy, who has a bit of a reputation with the ladies but can hook Mittens up with good catnip. He texts his girlfriend Fiona about coming over to spend time with him, sometimes in a box.

In this special friends and family edition, Mittens focuses his love (and demands) on those he loves best. from trying to update his Mom’s online dating profile for her to hanging out with the dog Earl whenever there is good squirrel watching to be done. And the next-door neighbor, Drunk Patty, who just wants to be loved by Mittens and texts him when she is feeling needy.

Mittens, however, just wants to live his best life, with plenty of yummy treats, boxes to sleep in, Judge Judy, friendship, catnip, and maybe just a few cuddles from Grandma. Actually, isn’t that all any of us want?

Texts from Mittens, The Friends and Family Edition, is such a fantastic gift for cat lovers. All friends and parents of cats would love this exclusive insiders look at a cat and his tweets. Author Angie Bailey has perfectly captured the mind of a cat, and in so doing, has perfectly captured the heart of this cat and book lover. Loved this one! Recommend this one! Buy this one!

Galleys for Texts from Mittens: The Friends and Family Edition were provided by Andrews McMeel Publishing through NetGalley, with many thanks.
