Wanda Brunstetter is my favorite Amish Story teller. I have read lots and lots of her stories. This collection to me was a bonus. It includes not only Wanda but Jean and Richelle Brunstetter. When you chose a Brunstetter book you know it will be a wholesome book with wonderful life lessons. Amish Front Porch Stories is a collection of 18 different situations and how the ladies involved dealt with them. If you need to be reminded of where our hope comes from, you can pick up this collection and read a story in less than an hour. My favorite part was reading one or two at the end of the day. I would recommend this collection to anyone who likes Amish stories. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing through NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.

This collection of 18 Amish stories, compiled by Wanda, Jean, and Richelle Brunstetter, makes for great relaxing reading. Following the tradition of all Brunstetter books, each story relays a situation where the main character endures a situation making them realize they need to lean on God, family, their Amish traditions, and the learning of how the fruits of the spirit is to be applied to their life.

I highly recommend this book for someone who doesn’t have a lot of time to invest in reading a long novel, but still enjoys the Amish genre. Each story is a quick read and very enjoyable.

"Amish Front Porch Stories" presents a series of short stories that deal with problems or issues commonly encountered by many people. The topics include dealing with children, taking on too much responsibility, changing one's behavior, working through grief, and caring for family members, among other topics. Each story focuses on a particular virtue or quality. The stories all feature different Amish characters. In addition, each story concludes with a guiding scripture verse that is applicable to the story situation. The stories are all written by different members of the Brunstetter family.

I enjoyed the plots of all the stories, and felt empathy for the characters in their struggles. The authors showed that all people, no matter their walk of life or beliefs, struggle with the same kinds of issues and problems in daily life. Every story can be read in one sitting. Although the stories are similar in scope, the unique style of each author is apparent.

I would classify these stories as "morality stories," since they deal with specific problems and how they are solved through faith and perseverance. I could imagine these stories being told by parents to their children, or shared among friends and neighbors. I really appreciated knowing that all people struggle with the same issues, and can find ways to deal with them, through the influence of faith, family, and friends.

Readers who want to learn more about the Amish and their beliefs and faith will enjoy these little gems. The Christian message is overt, so readers should be aware of this before beginning the stories. Readers who are Christian should find inspiration and support as they read the stories.

I received this book from the publisher and from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The opinions expressed here are entirely my own.

I am a serious Brunstetter fan from way back when I first discovered Christian fiction and Amish fiction. She has added many heartwarming books to my most treasured stories. I know I will find simple faith and wisdom not only in the pages, but in the characters as well. I think I’ve learned quite a few valuable lessons from them!

First off, this cover just draws me in! I can see myself sitting on that porch on a lazy summer afternoon chatting away with a friendly Amish neighbor. Maybe even shucking peas while we talk, and sipping homemade tea or lemonade to pass the time. Those rocking chairs look so inviting! Can you picture it in your head too? Secondly, I was amazed at how quickly I read these eighteen stories. Each one of them quickly drew me into the lives of the characters; like stepping into their shoes and glimpsing a slice of what everyday life is for them. Just because they are simple Amish folk, doesn’t mean they aren’t without troubles or struggles of their own too! I think my most favorite thing about these, how each story relates to the Fruit of the Spirit; Love, Joy, Peace, Long-suffering (patience), Gentleness, Goodness, Faith, Meekness, and Temperance. The characters come to learn how to deal with life using each of these “fruits”, which in turn, helped me to remember how to deal with these in my own life—by praying more, talking to other Christians when I struggle, delving into God’s word when I need guidance, and showing kindness always in all situations. I really believe that everyone can benefit from being reminded of these truths! Living out God’s ways of doing things can shine the light of Christ in our world and I think the authors did a perfect job of portraying that in their characters.

“A simple action is all that is needed to show God’s love to a neighbor.” ~Simple Actions by Wanda Brunstetter

If you are an Amish fiction reader or a Brunstetter fan, I think you will enjoy this collection of stories just as I did. Each one is a small bite size tale packed with faith, truth and sometimes even love!

An excellent series of very short stories that will hit you spiritually and have you keeping your faith. I am not of this faith yet I find these types of stories to be soothing rather than too preachy.

A wonderful collection of short tales, A quick read but one that was filled with stories to make you think and reflect on. Strong Christian values and bible references but moral issues everyone struggles with or can relate to even if not from a religious background.
I personally found several of the stories touched on things I have dealt with in my life and found comfort in the message delivered. I have already recommended this book to several people and encourage others to read these tales, some uplifting, some thought provoking and just a good wholesome book.

I really enjoyed the peaceful and sweet stories by this writing trio. This book contains 18 stories which all seem to teach a life's lesson. The stories include different topics, including depression and overcoming. It talks about life's hardships, joys and sorrows. The stories were obviously short but all told a wonderful theme with life's various happy and not so happy moments. It seems that the other characters in the stories often share some good advice and help to others. I enjoyed these suggestions and ideas. Good book to make you think about things!

I enjoyed this book and even the cover is pleasant and enjoyable to see on the bookshelf..

I recommend this book!

What a delightful book! Amish front porch stories are a series of short stories each of them portraying the fruits of the spirit. Each story is moving and entertaining. I found myself opening up the book whenever I had a free minute or two. Each story carried its own comfort and listen. If you are looking for stories that captures encouragement, forgiveness, hope and unconditional love, look no further. Each story is unique and flows so gracefully that you feel a sense of peace as you read them. It is easy to picture yourself sitting on the front porch with Amish neighbors and friends as you share your struggles and accomplishments.

The stories are short but so relaxing to read. It was hard to pick out one story over others that I liked. Each one had different topics but you can easily relate to them. I loved how the stories help readers understand that the Amish have similar problems like us. Sometimes we can think that the Amish are different and in some ways they are. When it comes to matters of the heart, we all go through similar feeling and realize that God needs to be a part of our lives to help us get past the mountains that block us from our faith.

I love that the chapters are divided into topics like peace, love, joy and other very familiar subjects related to the Fruits of the Spirit. I loved how the stories helped me see where I am struggling and it encourages me to seek God more. This book is one that should be placed on your bookshelf to read again when you need an encouraging word. I felt like I walked away with a renewed sense of purpose and peace knowing that God is right there to lift me up.

I received a copy of this book from the authors. The review is my own opinion.

This book left me contented and inspired to be more understanding of those around me. My plan was to read a story a day but once I started reading I could not put it down. A few stories left me wanting more just because I fell in love with the characters. My favorite was how each chapter ended in a bible verse.

I look forward to buying this book as a gift for several readers in my life.

Amish Front Porch Stories are filled with thoughtful, encouraging, inspiration and a scripture verse, with situations that can apply daily lifestyles. This is a wonderful collection of stories; a collaboration from three-generations of Brunstetter woman, each of the stories are unrelated and are about the length of a short chapter of a novel. Amish are known to have an atmosphere of peace and quiet, love, joy, peace, patience, and other Fruits of the Spirit; these stories all share just that. Sit for a while as you enjoy this book of their stories of love, joy, and the peace found in Amish country, and atmosphere of peace and quiet, perfect for front-porch sitting or while at the bedside of a family member.

Ms. Brunstetter was the first Amish author I ever read, and I have enjoyed reading her work, she has a simple and peaceful way of discussing the context of her stories, with love, gentleness, and moderation; a message to share with her readers. Ms. Wanda E Brunstetter has become one of my favorite Amish authors, I enjoy reading and becoming inspired by her books. I feel that these ladies and their stories are a blessing to the readers and will receive a 4-star rating due to some errors.
