A cozy mystery that I had no trouble figuring out who the villain was. Set in San Francisco an upscale apartment building that houses several elderly women know as The Fog Ladies. Sarah is a stressed medical intern and has no time for The Fog Ladies theories on why the ladies are continuing to have accidents. That all changes when one of the ladies who fell says she was pushed. Is something odd going on in the building or is it just over active imagination of the elderly ladies?

When Sarah James moved into the Pacific Heights apartment building, the last thing she expected to be doing is looking for clues to finger a murderer. She’s working overtime completing her medical residency at a local San Francisco hospital. But the Fog Ladies, as they’re affectionately known in her building, are dead set there’s something sinister going on. These deaths and accidents are no coincidence and just because the victims are elderly doesn’t mean they deserve to die. But who could it be? Sarah and the Fog Ladies are on the case. Will they discover the culprit in time or will Sarah be the next victim?

It’s been a long time since I read a cozy mystery like The Fog Ladies. It’s character-driven and these characters are a hoot. Each character has its own distinctive voice. Sarah is my favorite character, but my second favorite has to be the outrageous Mrs. Carmichael. She’s opinionated, feisty and adds plenty of hilarity to the plot. Plus her addiction to Starbucks makes her genuine.

Why is this a 5-star book? First and foremost, the mystery was tricky to solve and just when I thought I had it all figured out, Susan McCormick revealed the true villain. A few red herrings added intrigue to the mystery. Most cozies are easy-peasy but not this one. Kudos to the author for creating a mystery hard to unravel. The plot blended with the zany characters makes this a must-read for mystery and cozy mystery readers alike! Highly recommend!

If you’re looking for an addictive cozy mystery, look no further than The Fog Ladies. I look forward to the next installment. Fingers crossed there is one.

A cozy little mystery about a group of elderly ladies who live in an upscale apartment building in San Francisco. Enter Sarah, a new tenant who is an over worked medical resident. The ladies draw her in for some mystery solving. It was a delightful, light, easy to read story. I am not a huge fan of mystery, but this one hit the spot! Thanks to the publisher and Net Galley for the opportunity.

I received this ARC via Netgalley and The Wild Rose Press, Inc, in return for an honest review. Sarah James, overworked and sleep-deprived because of her medical residency, is fortunate to live in a subsidized apartment building. She’s ‘adopted’ by the women of the building, calling themselves ‘the Fog Ladies’. Over the first few chapters, several women die in unfortunate circumstances in the building and they appear to be accidental deaths. The reader knows that, at least, one death is not an accident. The remaining Fog Ladies ask Sarah to look into whether the deaths were natural. After accidents befall other members, there is definitely something strange at work. There’s obvious respect between Sarah and the Fog Ladies. The interactions between each character is well written and allows each to develop a distinctive personality.

The Fog Ladies is a murder mystery set in an old San Francisco building converted years ago into residences. Renovations are taking place to update and modernize the building. There are many characters starting with a new medical intern who will be there through her residency. The fog ladies are a group of older and elderly women, distinct and quirky so you come to love them or hate them. Other characters are added as the book continues and the author develops them perfectly as well. Murder and "accidents" are happening to the women. The plot moves at a good speed and there are many many suspects to flush out.
I enjoyed McCormick's style of writing. This was labeled a "cozy" mystery but I would just label it a mystery and a very good one.
Thanks to Netgalley, the author Susan McCormick and The Wild Rose Press for this ARC

I received this book from Netgalley and have written an honest review.
A quick and interesting read, Some violence but not too graphic. Have to say I solved the puzzle long before the end but continued reading to find out how the author tied things up. It really was a cost mystery.
An intern at a local hospital moves into a building and becomes acquainted with a group of senior s who call themselves the fog Ladies. As Sarah gets to know them they include her in their group and she learns of the death of a member of their group, followed by another "accidental" death shortly after. The ladies are very upset by the deaths and ask Sarah to verify that they were natural, which she does. After two more ladies suffer accidents it becomes apparent that something more is going on.
The only quibble I have is the ladies seem to be a generation behind the times, urging Sarah to find a nice young man. Being of an age with these ladies it struck a false note. My grandmother would have had this attitude. My mother found a little independence during WWII and her attitude was more, get an education, be able to take care of yourself. Most of the people I knew shared this view. Otherwise I enjoyed the story.

A very entertaining murder mystery. Susan McCormick has developed a community of like minded women of a certain age who join together to solve the numerous suspicious deaths in the apartment complex. Since no one will believe that these deaths could be murder, they draft a young woman into their investigation. The interaction between the two very different generations sets the tone for their hunt for answers. This is a quick read that will keep you reading to see what The Fog Ladies will do next!

I love cozy mysteries featuring senior and this one was excellent.
The mystery is well crafted and it kept me guessing, the cast of characters is likeable and well fought, the setting is interesting.
I look forward to reading other books by author, possibly featuring this characters.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

The title and the cover of this book were immediately appealing to me.
It’s a well written mystery, but for me it might have too many characters. In the beginning I had a hard time keeping track of who is who. But as soon as I got into reading it I understood all the characters had a role to play to make this book a nice mystery read.
I love Mrs. Noonan, I need a neighbour like her, actually I think we all need a neighbour like her!
From the beginning of the book I had suspicions of what might be going on and who would be behind it all. I wasn’t too far off. But the book had me second guessing myself a couple times, especially towards the end.

Murder Or Mishap....?
A fun and thoroughly entertaining mystery set in an apartment block in San Francisco. When a series of accidents befalls elderly residents resulting in their deaths ‘The Fog Ladies’ suspicions are raised. Sarah, resident and medical intern, is content to put the deaths down to old age but soon has just cause to change her mind. Can ‘The Fog Ladies’, with the help of Sarah, solve the mystery before it’s too late for them?

This is a very enjoyable mystery with a cast of senior citizens and an intrepid young doctor, set in contemporary San Francisco. Author McCormick has developed a solid plot that has both poignancy and urgency. The sudden death of an elderly but active senior seems just a product of the aging process until some residents of the building start to question that assumption. Sarah James, a medical intern who lives in the building, is overtired and reluctant to get involved. But she proves an able ally in uncovering exactly what is happening. Readers will find much to enjoy in this story with excellent writing, pacing of the plot, character studies, and driving suspense.

I was interested to see how a young medical intern could possibly team with a group of senior citizens to solve a mystery. But, the San Francisco setting intrigued me, so I gave it a try. My mom (in her 80s) also read it and we both liked this book! The characters are each unique and complex. The story is nicely constructed with several side-plots and a bit of romance, as well. I also found the depictions of how each of these seniors dealt with the aging process an added plus. And, since it's written by a doctor, we get an in-depth and accurate look at what medical training is like. I enjoyed this book so much that I recommended it to friends.
