Tom believes humanity is worth killing for.

Tom is a sensitive and gifted artist, with a baffling history and a secret compulsion that often results in murder. He can justify it, but he is still a criminal. Helen, is onto the scoop of a lifetime, but finds herself inextricably connected to Tom.

On another continent, General Hawke will stop at nothing to put Tom – and his unborn child – under the microscope, literally, even at the risk of an international crisis. Am enjoying Night Shadows. You're a splendid craftsman. It captured my interest right away and held it. Great scenes; pulled me right in. Vivid, visual, powerful. Really enjoyed the book. It's skilfully and artfully executed, with gripping turns and twists, and it has psychological depth (especially Tom and the mother's suicide episode). This reminded me of the work of US thriller writer Daniel Silva. It’s as good as his work, or any contemporary thriller of its type I've read. It's sophisticated and psychologically complex. I used to read a lot of this genre. I was a source for Tom Clancy’s Cardinal of the Kremlin and knew him relatively well. There’s another whom I knew personally, Vince Flynn, also Stephen Hunter, and I could go on. Your work is as good as theirs. You've set it up brilliantly. It's credible, readable, and well-paced. [T Moore, historical fiction published author]

***** Well worth a Read. This novel set in the modern day follows Tom, a troubled man with an even more troubling past. He is the centre of a large conspiracy involving everything from the army to interstellar beings. Throughout the course of the novel, more and more is revealed about our protagonist until an exciting climax. I found the novel to be well paced with relatable characters, and the story always had something exciting happening. Would recommend it to anyone [Iomhar OSullivan, Amazon]
***** Grabbed my attention from the start. Fast moving, imaginative, fun to read, thought provoking. One of those books you don't want to put down from the first time you pick it up. I doubt you've read anything quite like it. Great 'new-ish' author and I've already started another of her works, just the beginning of a long reading relationship! [Gayle Stacey, Amazon]

***** Gripping. bought this for a friend who wants it and had a little sneaky look as I was intrigued by the title. oh dear! have to buy another now. keeping this for myself! great read - gripping. [Felicity Lamb, Amazon]

***** Interesting and Unique. What I thought was going to be an adventure story with a strong relationship element soon morphed into something else entirely, with the realization that the very handsome and talented lead character Tom was a man with a very disturbing history and a few very shadowy allies. When Tom and Helen meet there is an immediate strong attraction. Helen is a gorgeous journalist who tries hard not to fall for Tom, an artist and true eccentric and loner. Who Tom really is and what role Helen will play in his story unfolds with many twists and turns and interesting characters and locales. I liked the fast pace and the unexpected developments. [re-named Night Shadows] If Aliens Could Swim is an original approach to the human/alien hybrid trope. The plot is complex, dealing with government and military cover-ups, covert alien invasions and at the heart of it...a conflicted man trying to find out the true nature of his soul. There is a considerable level of action spread out over several countries. A very entertaining read. [kindle buyer, Amazon]

***** Don't be Put off by the title. This is a book you want to put down. It starts a bit slow but you just want to see if there are really aliens out there the way the author tells you the story has you thinking that it could be true. [ Kendal, Amazon]

***** Grabs Your attention from the start. A great read! This is a story that is very fast paced. It transports you from an artist’s studio in London to a mad escapade in pursuit of UFOs in the Arizona desert. Don’t be put off by the violence in the early pages, it all serves a purpose in helping you follow Tom’s search for identity. For anyone out there with questions about UFOs you will love this tale – it leaves you breathless right up to the end! Buy it, read it, you will love it! [Niall Herriot, Amazon]

***** Didn't want to put it down. My first science fiction type book, really well written, I was captivated from the start. [ CT Kenward, Amazon]

**** A Very Good Read. A fast moving story and interesting development of the main character, Tom. Not a genre I would normally choose to read but I was gripped from the start! [Mrs JD Fahy]

***** Was more than I thought it would b e. At first I thought this was going to be a simple tale, but then it morphed into something more. I was pleasantly surprised by the levels of complexity and depth to the story. The characters were great, and tempo was pleasant. [Regular Buyer, Amazon]

***** Loved it. I would give it ten stars if I could. This is the best written, best edited and best plotted book that I have read in a year. Highly recommended. [Goodreads Review]
----------Spoiler Alerts follow: don't read this if you haven't yet read the novel!----------

***** So very well written and engaging. I loved this book. I am not generally a huge science fiction fan but this book is much more than just science fiction. It just kept getting better and better, all the way to the very end. An alien ship appears at the start. The narrative really begins as more of a mystery or police procedural type story, though. The characters are developed. We learn motives and secrets. As the story progresses, we find there is much more going on than we could imagine. Apparently, aliens have visited our planet, but why have they not communicated with us? Is the lack of communication due to lack of real interest? Lack of capabilities? Hostility? Or have they communicated but only to a select few? What is the best response if you don't know if the beings in the ship want to be friends, annihilate the planet or "to serve man"? Is the best response one based on fear? Or is that kind of response creating a conflict that would not otherwise exist?"If Aliens Could Swim" entertained me, drew me in, and made me think. A really excellent book that I highly recommend. [Jan, Amazon]

**** Delightful moral story about what happens when aliens come to earth with unclear intent. What might happen when a woman has an apparently human child and the father is thought to be an alien. This novel builds on finding an adult human being who is suspected of having an alien parent and a human mother. When cultural values come into question, the military wants to determine if aliens will try to attack the earth or merely observe. Can or should anything be done or is mankind doomed? The records of twentieth century first contact were put aside and forgotten until a pair of astronauts witnessed aliens destroying a space station. The astronauts were apparently captured and returned to earth breathing but broken. The original science-based military team is re-convened and tries to restart their research after a couple of decades. The first step is to find one missing alien-sired baby who by that time is an adult. Missteps of the past are reinvestigated. The clairvoyance of the missing human is what sets him apart even though there are others with his skill. The first child, Tom Wicklow, has become a credible artist but has an antisocial behavior; he is a vigilante. The book's title is a bit misleading -- it would be better titled "What would an alien do?" [spoke 36, Amazon]

***** Very Interesting and Fast Paced. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to see if there will be a sequel. Aliens have been visiting the earth for thousands of years (according to the book) and they have been making hybrid human-aliens. Lots of action and a little fun along the way. Spoiler Alert (don't read if you like surprises): But these hybrids are not for an invasion, but so human kind can move up to the next level of maturity and peace (but you don't find that out until the very end).
