Description

Spare your world from cruel demise. Build your magic. This, devise! Sixteen-year-old Galla Jenari, bored with castle life, makes her escape. She must grow up practically overnight, as she finds her world filled with dangers beyond her imaginings.
Once ridiculed by the dashing, headstrong, Prince Shiran, Galla's courage and ingenuity become indispensable in his fight against a fierce enemy. As she saves yet another prince from destruction at the hands of his own people, her challenges begin anew as her world struggles with rampant disease, racism, and environmental disaster.
Desperate for love and acceptance, and battling her own self-doubt, she matches wits with every male she encounters; gaining respect but losing her heart. As lovers surround her, Galla remains alone.
She strikes out and declares herself an equal power, taking command of what has become a pirate airship. Although classic fantasy with adventure and surprises at every turn, Galla of Chelandra is based on the concept of real magic - what anyone can do using their heart, mind, and hands. With modern themes and a young woman at the helm, Galla of Chelandra is sure to delight all those who crave an intelligent fantasy saga. Offered to give hope and inspiration in trying times. Also, perfect for resurrecting the joy of family storytime. (Young children with care.)

In Chelandra: Book One, Karina McRoberts presents a classic fantasy story that is exciting and full of sorrow at the same time. The story is of a young woman named Galla who goes through a world of terror and wonders. Galla and her colleagues encounter peculiar experiences ranging from fighting monsters, encountering gossamer creatures, and also engaging in peculiar customs, cultures, and music. The story is marked with plagues, wars, destruction, and hunger. The author brings out these themes using strange and quirky characters.
As Galla and her companions walk in the world of discovery, they eventually discover themselves. Expect to be caught by surprise as you turn every page. A unique feature about this book is how it blends sorrow and humor, romance and mystery. It is a brilliantly written, mysterious, action-packed book with great characters, to say the least. Once you start reading, you just feel like going forward without putting the book down. It is a great read!---------------------------------Grady HarpTop Contributor: Children's BooksHALL OF FAME TOP 100 REVIEWER5.0 out of 5 stars Another world – with a dollop of now!Reviewed in the United States on June 28, 2019Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
CHELANDRA - an epic fantasy fiction with echoes of contemporary struggles bombarding us today and referencing those brave ones attempting to thwart the horrors!

In the manner of prescient troubadours Karina sets her story to reflect today, and yet manages to create an entertaining escapist tale that that transports us to a time and place which, as she states, is filled with ‘fantasy, adventure, mystery, humour, and romance.
The novel rings with a fine atmosphere that allows us to suspend disbelief and enjoy the journey. At book’s end she gives information about the music mentioned and background of her characters mentioned in passing, along with other fascinating tidbits of information. Adding notes such as these not only enhances the novel but also is fine teaching on the author’s part. This is a terrific diversion from reality and an invitation to explore magic!
