Trouble with Treasure (Undersea Mystery Club Book 2)

It’s Spring Cleaning Day in Aquamarina, and this means that everyone must tidy up by dusting, sweeping and getting rid of things no longer needed. Violet is stuck inside trying to clean her room when she would much rather be out looking for pirates and shipwrecks. Along comes her best friend, Wally who is more interested in playing, as well. However, Violet must clean first. Luckily, Wally is a really good friend and chips in Before long they are all finished and able to go out and explore. During a brief game of tide-and-seek, they discover a chest of ‘sunken treasure’. Unfortunately, they are unable to open the chest. After much searching, they finally luck up and discover the method to open the chest.
This is a great little story and holds the attention well. The plot is entertaining, but it is not too long or convoluted as to loose the interest of a child. Readers will definitely smile at the antics of Wally and Violet, along with some of the other characters in the book. The illustrations by Melanie Demmer are bright and eye-catching and provide a great partnership to the story. The definition of a historian is given at the end of the book, providing an inside look into what a historian does. There is also a short section on real sunken treasure, which does exist, due to the fact that ships have wrecked in the past and their cargo is still at the bottom of the ocean. The book also provides instructions for building your own time capsule, which is a great activity for children. It gives them a unique way to store memories for retrieval at a later date.

This was a cute, simple story. I enjoyed seeing how Violet and Wally worked together to solve a mystery - one for both them and their town! The lesson of not ignoring your past was subtle but effective.

It is Spring Cleaning day in Aquamarina and Violet the mermaid needs to clean her room before she can go out to play, Soon her good friend, Wally the Narwhal shows up to help her out and before you know it they are out and about playing and having fun. Soon, during a game of Tide and Seek, they stumble upon a buried treasure and now they need to try and figure out how to open it and what treasures it might hold. They try and enlist their naughty friend Gil but he cannot help out and finally the local historian helps them unlock and treasure. A really good book. The illustrations are good, but could be a bit better, but nonetheless they are effective for the age group. A fun story about friends working together and having a good time solving this mystery, The book appears to be aimed at young readers but even smaller children will enjoy this solid effort by Courtney Carbone. I am looking forward to more books in this cute mystery series.

Cute early chapter book with a great focus on history. Some nonfiction towards the end and a project to do at home that rounds out the book wonderfully. Great for classrooms and libraries!

It is Spring Cleaning time in Aquamarina and Violet the mermaid has to get he room cleaned before going out to play. Her best friend, Wally the Narwhal shows up to help. Violet wants to throw out a lot of stuff that she doesn't think she needs anymore, but her mother asks her to wait and think about it. Violet and Wally head out to play a game of "Tide and Seek." While playing, they find a sunken treasure chest, but can't figure out how to open it. Working together with others in Aquamarina, they are finally able to open the chest. This is a short, cute chapter book for beginning readers. The illustrations are cute and will assist a reader using them as clues to the text. They also add to the story. The messages of working together to solve a problem/mystery as well as the value of paying attention to the past are both well done in a subtle way. I recommend this book and series to primary classes, family, school and public libraries. (Late Primary/Early Junior)

Very cute story, they find a treasure chest!! Wally the Narwal, and Violet the mermaid have a great adventure. I think most kids would enjoy this book. Colorful and fun. 4 stars

This is a really cute book about a mermaid and is the second book in a series.
I loved how the book subtly teaches children a form of problem solving as well as remembering things and paying attention to the past.
I look forward to sharing this book with my little one as I'm sure she will love it.

It's a cute story about a mermaid and narwhal who go on a treasure hunt. What they end up finding is better than a treasure of gold in many ways, because it's a lesson on the importance of history and connecting with your past. It's totally the kind of treasure hunt that I would have loved to take at that age. And at the end, you get to learn how to make your own time capsule, which I think would be a lot of fun to do.
