Description

Rascal is a cat. My cat. I didn't ask for him, he just sort of... happened to me. But that's how it works sometimes, isn't it?

When a mysterious mewling package arrives in the mail, one busy young woman's life changes forever. Rascal lives up to his name, filling every day with wild adventures and long naps: brave expeditions into closets, fierce battles with curtains, and wrestling with slumbering giants... Sometimes she's tempted to throw him out the window. He's lucky he's cute.

Jean-Luc Deglin paints a purring portrait of one unforgettable black cat, an elegant inky swirl in a world of striking blue tones. Hilarious and heartwarming, exasperating and enchanting, Rascal captures the full range of emotions that come with keeping God's cutest killing machine as a pet.

If you love cats, or dream of having one, this book is dedicated to you. Once you bring Rascal into your life, you'll wonder how you ever lived without him.

Aaah, I loved this so much! This is a really cute collection of short comics (each page is a four panel standalone comic) about owning a cat. It has a perfect mix of humour and cuteness and I fell in love with Rascal instantly. There's not too much I can say given that it doesn't have a plot but I felt it perfectly captured so many aspects of owning a cat. I would definitely recommend picking this up if you're a cat owner, cat lover or just want to read some cute comics about an adorable kitten. It would also make a great gift for the cat-obsessed person in your life.

As someone that has a cat, this book made me laugh at how accurate it was. The art style of this graphic novel is simple but is really cute and draws the eye. I really enjoyed how simple the storyline was and how you could see the owner growing to love the cat over time. Highly recommend this book!

Have you ever had a cat? Then you will love this graphic novel - it perfectly captures what it's like living with these tiny fur-covered hell beasts we adore. Our narrator didn't intend to end up with a cat - one just sort of ended up with her. Rascal's name is also a descriptor - he's a total rascal who wreaks havoc wherever he goes, but he's also her cat, and as much as he annoys her, she loves her kitty. And so do we. Because Rascal is adorable and he is every cat we've ever had. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go and cuddle both my furry mini-lions.

A sweet fictional chronicle of a kitten taking over the life of a young woman and the furry felicity that ensues. Well worth a read and pet owners of all species will enjoy the pet life represented in these pages.

Cute, sweet, funny story about a new cat owner. As someone who has spent her entire life around (oh, let's face it, OWNED by) cats, so much of this rang true. Several laugh out loud moments!

A young millennial's life is disrupted when she receives a mewing package in the mail. An acquaintance of her mom needs her kitten watched (and they sent it in a box???) and they decided she was up to the task. To her horror, though, the neighbor ends up dying, leaving her with the cat. She ends up naming it "Rascal" because she's always calling him "you rascal" do to his constant shenanigans.

Anyone who is a cat owner will really enjoy this book. It captures the douchiness of cats while also showing why they make such good pets for introverts. I own a little black cat and spent an hour reading while she slept on my lap. Cats don't make you walk them, and they aren't always affectionate when you want them to be, but that aloofness is precisely what makes their companionship so valuable, and they're very fun to cuddle with if you have hobbies that require keeping still for long periods of time.

That said, RASCAL also captures why cats can be so annoying. The sharp claws. The way they tend to stick their butthole into your face without warning. The way they get bored of the expensive toys you buy them while chewing on your clothes, beauty supplies, and houseplants (basically anything that isn't bolted down and isn't one of their toys). Oh, yes, and the stinky wees and the way they somehow manage to track litter all over the floor--

And don't even get me started on the "presents." My cat recently led me to a "death hoard," where she had amassed a small pile of murdered birds, rodents, and lizards for my purview. (Or should I say, purr-view?) I read somewhere recently that cats do that because they think of us as big dumb cats and it's their way of trying to teach us how to hunt.

I really enjoyed this graphic novel a lot. The way the artist draws the cat contorted into a wide variety of poses was really funny, and I liked the heroine who is his owner. She had a great sense of humor and their relationship was really fun. The only thing I didn't really like about this book was limited to its being an ARC-- I really hate it when people put giant watermarks on the pages of ARCs. I'm not going to steal your book, okay? I'm here to review it-- for FREE-- and that's that. Don't make it harder than it needs to be by stamping a big, ugly distraction smack-dab in the center of each page.

Apart from that, RASCAL was purrfectly adorable. Anyone who loves cats should read this!

Adorable cat? Check

An owner who both loves and hates her cat? Check.

This graphic novel is too cute and so real. I have a little black demon cat, and this might as well have been written about it.

A young woman receives a package from her mother, containing a kitten belonging to an acquaintance. WHO PUTS A KITTEN IN THE MAIL??? But then the acquaintance dies, so she's stuck with a cat she never really wanted but ends up loving anyway.

This book captures the essence of cats perfectly. They stick their butts in your face, play with cardboard instead of the toys you buy them, run around like they are possessed by demons, and track litter through every single inch of your house. Then they do a 180 turnabout and cuddle when you're sad and become a friend, albeit an evil one.

This graphic novel is purr-fect for cat lovers.
