Description

Kristen McKay and Tyler Kincaide have a past—one that has left her with a bone-deep animosity for him. And a secret.

After seventeen years away, Tyler has returned to his hometown of Northridge, complicating Kristen’s life and dredging up conflicting emotions she’d rather not confront: the shame of that night so many years ago, coupled with the confounding and unwelcome physical attraction she has for him; the desire to keep her secret and the guilt over doing just that.

For his part, Tyler tries to renew his once-casual friendship with Kristen, but is greeted with open hostility for his efforts. He can’t understand why she feels about him the way he feels about Brussels sprouts and kale—intense loathing. What did he do that was so unforgivable? And what can he do to make her view him with less distaste than she would gum on the bottom of her shoe?

When they’re roped into working on a project together for the town’s Economic Development Council, there is no denying their chemistry. The heat between them grows into something more than sexual attraction, leaving Kristen no other alternative. She must confess her secret, even though she knows it will tear them apart. In an ironic twist, she finds she must seek forgiveness from the very man she swore never to forgive.

I really enjoyed this book! I felt the characters were real and were willing to work out their issues. Always love a good romance and this one didn't disappoint. The characters had both been through a lot, but found ways to forgive each other. This is how it is suppose to be instead of holding out anger and bitterness against each other.

I received this book as an Arc for my own opinions.
I'm not one to read a book about secret babies but I had a hard time not reading this book.
I was drawn in by the cover and excerpt that I read.
I love the depth of the characters. They both grew up a lot in this book and i feel like they found their way in a realistic every day situation instead of unbelievable like some books are.
I wa every surprised by this book and really enjoyed reading it.

This book was fantastic. Kristen has grown up being teased and challenged her whole life. While struggling with her self confidence she is also the owner of a coffee shop/book store. When the guy that he always loved came back into town, she was so mad at him and for a good reason. Tyler on the other hand has no clue why she is so mad at him. While battling cancer Tyler realized that life was too short and even though he won the battle of cancer h didnt get away Scott free.

Okay, this is another one of those books where I loved the H but had some really big problems liking the h. A poor alcohol-induced decision on the part of Tyler just before he left town to go to college compounded by a lot of miscommunication which turned to anger and resentment on the part of Kristen over the results of that night and which she let simmer and brew for seventeen years. It is at this point that Tyler returns to town to establish a business and ends up having to work with Kristen on an economic development committee and is completely baffled as to why she has so much hostility towards him since his memory of that night is non-existent. I'm getting a tad tired of and frustrated with books where 80-90% of the book is "a failure to communicate" when if the couple would just have a healthy discussion, things could have been worked out. Or at least a bridge could have been built towards a better relationship in the future. Of course, that wouldn't make for a very long book that way. lol. I did like the fact that Seth, the teenage son of Kristen and who was unknown to Tyler, was a violin prodigy. That was unusual and could have been expanded on a bit more. I have read other books by this author and enjoyed them quite a bit so I will read more from her in the future.

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book provided to me through NetGalley.

A Season of Love, Seasons of Northridge Book 2, is by award winning author Rebecca Heflin. Set in Northridge, Georgia, outside of Atlanta, this is the story of Beans n’ Books coffee shop and bookstore owner Kristen McKay. Kristen’s life has been anything but easy. She grew up in poverty and everything she now has is of her own doing. She is a business owner, a part-time college student, and single mother to a 16 year old violin protege.

Tyler Kincaide was a hometown fellow who had left for Princeton 17 years prior and had only been home for visits until a year ago. He came home looking rough but has since restored his health, a home and started Firehouse Brews and its partner operation Firehouse Taproom.

Both Kristen and Tyler serve on the Northridge Economic Development Committee, Which is where Kristen’s and Tyler’s paths cross once again. As he seems to barely remember her and she can never forget the night that forever changed her life, her anger bubbles to the surface and she can barely be civil. When the two of them end up researching the impacts of Northridge being a location prospect for future filming in their town, they are thrown together in a way that otherwise would not have occurred. And it is in this time spent together when old information surfaces and secrets emerge that will either bring them together or drive them further apart.

This is a delightful story with endearing characters and themes. I did enjoy this book and I do recommend it!

This is an excellent book. The characters are well developed and realistic. Kristen had a hard time growing up and with a father in prison and mother who was irresponsible, she had to work hard and ignore the "trailer trash" comments in school.. As a senior she was in love with Tyler but once he went off to college, she did not hear from him until he returns to their home town 16 years later. Kristen has a son, Seth, who is a talented violin player. Their relationship is genuine and she provides for him, sacrificing her own needs. Tyler wishes to renew the friendship he had with Kristen but she is reluctant to get involved. Kristen's work ethic, motherly love, and friendship makes her special. There are twists and turns throughout the story, making this book fun and heartwarming to read.

Although the end was predictable it didn't stop me enjoying the book and I would recommend it .Kristen had a hard childhood and was constantly bullied about where she lived. 17 years later she is the owner of a book shop/coffee shop and is up early baking for the shop and up late at night studying for qualifications.

Tyler returns to his home town after 17 years after suffering health issues and can't undearstand why Kristen shows such anger towards him. When they are thrown together to work on a project they have to deal with past issues. Kristen has to start forgiving Tyler and knows she must share a secret with him that will probably end their friendship.

This is the first book I have read by Rebecca Helfin but I loved her style of writing and will happily search out more of her books.
