Description

The brave, burning with fire, harnessed the Dragon's Rage....

As the Dragon Heir, seventeen-year-old Kaia inherited the power of flame to protect her homeland from a godlike necromancer’s undead army. But after centuries of peace, the necromancer has faded to myth, and the Dragon Heir is feared by the people. Persecuted and cast out, Kaia struggles to embrace and control her seemingly useless gift while confined to her family’s farm.

But when the necromancer’s undead terrorize the land once again, Kaia runs away to join the battle.

With the help of her childhood rival, the handsome Shadow Heir, and a snarky, cursed cat, Kaia must figure out how to control both her fire and her confidence in time to save Okarria. If she fails, she will sacrifice her family, her new friends, and the enchanting world she has only just begun to see.

And time is running out.

The brave, burning with fire, harnessed the Dragon's Rage....

As the Dragon Heir, seventeen-year-old Kaia inherited the power of flame to protect her homeland from a godlike necromancer’s undead army...

Well-writ ten and well-plotted, thios book tells about Kira, who is the descendant of a hero called the Dragon Heir. Like her ancestor, she can conjure fire. Unlike him, she is feared and ostracized in her village.
But the evil her ancestor, and two others (the Shadow Heir and the Time Heir) defeated is coming back...

I expected this to be a one-of-the-many. one of those novel where the reader can tell pretty much everything that would happen, if they've read a few books in the same genre previously. To my surprise, this book held a few surprises. And what was not surprising, was well-written and with enough of an original twist that I didn't mind at all.

I look forward to part two in this series.

ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I love female leads, especially when they're fierce in the face of danger and are in a series. Why? Well, it often means that they grow into their own and if you throw in dragons, then I'm sold.

I came across this book in the 'read now' section and wanted to read it because I got to know about the book and the author via #writingcommunity on Twitter.

The story revolves around Kaia and she's inherited the Dragon Fire which means she can conjure fire and whilst this is awesome, she struggles with controlling her rage and when their village is attacked and she flees in search of her Father and witnesses his death- she is suddenly thrust into the role of leader and savior of her people, but the question really is, can she save herself from the rage within?

I enjoyed reading this book, it's rather short if you ask me and do however wish that there weren't as many names and characters mentioned in the book be it in passing in the dialogues or the descriptions. My favorite character had to be a feline, a black cat, Shad. So witty, catty and just refreshing!
Thanks Netgalley for the eARC.

A refreshing and interesting read, strong female lead and full of interesting characters. Well written and good world building, I picked this on impulse, but so glad I did, a great read.

Odriel’s Heirs is a fast-paced story about Kaia’s quest to defeat Nifras, a demon necromancer who wants to take over the world. Kaia is the Dragon Heir, one of three of Odriel’s Heirs. Klaus is the Shadow Heir, able to turn invisible when he wants, and Jago is the Time Heir, able to heal anyone. They’ve been told that the only way Nifras can be defeated is if they work together, but when the story begins, we learn that Jago is missing. Throughout the book, Kaia and Klaus have to make do with what they have in order to succeed against Nifras’s undead army.

I give this book a 4.5/5 because it’s a pretty solid read for a debut book! I really liked Kaia’s character development. As the story progresses, we see her transform from a scared, doubtful girl into a confident warrior who was willing to die to the people she loves. I usually don’t like it when romance is included in fantasy novels because they feel insta-lovey, but I like how the romance between Kaia and Klaus developed from their bickering childhood arguments into more soft, caring words. They supported one another no matter what came between them.

My favorite character was Gus, Kaia’s ragehound, whose task was to bring Kaia back to her normal state of mind when she was too consumed by her dragon rage. He was so sweet and was always looking after Kaia, reassuring her when she doubted herself and telling her everything will be okay when she was sad :( I love Gus <3

What really drew me into the book was all the fast-paced fight scenes as well as the world building. Right off the bat, we were thrown into a scene where Kaia had to fight against the undead with her brother, Bram, and from there, the fighting rarely stopped. The details that were included in these scenes had me hooked on.

Odriel's Heirs is a wonderful book with strong characters and beautiful worldbuilding.

I loved how Kaia, the heroine, started out as an unsure girl and developed into a powerful fighter during her journey. I also liked the relationship with Klaus, her childhood rival, that went from constant bickering to friendship to slow building romance.
The character who really stole my heart though was Gus, Kaia's ragehound, who was there for her and worked as her therapy/service dog as he calmed her down every time the Dragon Rage inside her was on the brink of breaking through un-called.

Overall this was a very enjoyable read with great characters, lovely side-characters and wonderful worldbuilding. I would love to explore Kaia's world more.
And get a ragehound of my own.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for this eARC.

This was very entertaining! The action started very soon in the story, I really like that in books. I had a really fun time reading this, loved the characters and the animals! I saw that there was going to be a sequel, will definitely be reading it!

This book slew me, and it is all because of Klaus. I can't say anything without spoiling things, so all I will say is that he stole my heart just like he stole Kaia's.
The world-building was interesting, but I wish the author dove more into what the creatures looked like since a vast majority was of her own creation. Such as the ragehound, for the longest time, it was a red dog that was big and loyal (although I am curious how Kaia knew exactly what Gus was saying with each whine and movement), but near the end of the book, Gus suddenly had a feathered tail.
Also, she kept mixing up Klaus's does and calling the second one by the dead one's name before switching twice.
If you get a chance to read this book, make sure you have tissues with you because you are going to need it.
If you would like to know the exact reasons why Klaus slew me, you can check it out on my blog https://bookgirlreviewsbooks.blogspot.com under the Last Nail in My Coffin.
10 out of 5 stars.

My Rating : 4🌟

Thank you so much Netgalley for the review copy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own and not influenced in any way.
.
This book follows our main character Kaia, who chose to throw herself into a battle with the dead and has to learn to control her Dragon fore before it consumes her. It talks about self-confidence, control of one's emotions, friendship and making difficult decisions for her land Okkaria.
.
First, I absolutely loved the concept of Necromancer raising the dead which just increases the stake by a huge level! It's not an unique concept per-se, but it was done in a really fun yet serious way. The weight of the situation the characters faced was done really good and it made me feel a lot of emotions when things went south! The pacing of the story was really good and it delivered the story emotions well.
.
Second, I absolutely loved our main characters Aaia and Klaus! Theirs was a romance that gave me all the slow-burn satisfaction and I absolutely loved how they interacted with each other, their protectiveness and the trust they had in each other. Now, how can I forget the talking cat and the ever loving wolfhound?? The animal sidekicks were the highlight of this story and I would fight you if you say otherwise.
.
Now coming to the parts where the characters made stupid decisions and suffered for it, I was so pissed at Kaia for being the cliched protagonist who put her trust in the wrong place. The consequences were dire and one got to see how she paid for it as well. My handsome baby Shadow Heir Klaus was just a patootie beanbag and supported Kaia no matter what. The banter between the two gave me the feels! With that being said, even though this book had all the guilty please feels element to it, it still lacked originality when it came to the ending and felt familiar. There were a lot of scenes where I felt like I had 'have seen it somewhere before' vibe and that didn't sit well with me. That ending was so corny it made me smile like an idiot! Epilogue was a punch in my gut where the stakes just got higher!
.
Overall, this book delivered all that it promised, an amazing story, well defined and developed characters (even though they make stupid and rash decisions), good writing style, adorable animal sidekicks, lot of discussion with self-confidence and self-love, witty comebacks and sassy banters, angsty slow burn romance and war scenes with very high stakes! After that epilogue I can't wait for the next book! If you are a fantasy lover, read this book and you won't be disappointed!
