This was an interesting book. I thought the information presented was well laid out and flowed well. I really enjoyed reading it and want to try and start implementing some of what I read.
HOW GOD GROWS A WOMAN OF PRAYER was sent to me by Net Galley, free of charge, in exchange for my honest review.
This devotion book was written by Anita Higman and Marian Leslie, published by Barbour Books. Barbour Books is an imprint of Barbour Publishing.
HOW GOD GROWS A WOMAN OF PRAYER is a Christian devotional written to show us everyday that God wants to be our friend – not just our ATM machine (my words). He wants us to love Him and spend time with Him. In their first devotion, these ladies state, “A good friendship takes time, effort, and sensitivity, but a healthy friendship is not one-sided.”
Each devotion consists of:
A title – Day 1 “A Bit of a Toad”
A memory verse – Day 1 “JOHN 15:15”
A sweet devotion – Day 1 is about how we would not like it if our “friend” was all take and no give
A prayer – Day 1 Anita prayed that we would love Jesus as a real friend, not just for what He can give us.
I pulled one quote that really touched me…
*Prayer is the supernatural communication with the Creator of all things, but it is also a profoundly intimate exchange.*
At the end is a Scripture Index and a couple of short paragraphs about the authors.
I would recommend this devotional for women who love Jesus and want to become closer and more intimate with Him.
I really enjoyed this devotional prayer book. It gives some good examples of prayer, and relates it to scriptures and real life. I plan on using this next year one day at a time to help develop a more prayerful life.
This devotional is a really good read. It has some good prayers. Its a well written devotional book. I think women would love to read this book.
Thank you NetGalley and Barbour Publishing, Inc for letting me read this book.
I read and reviewed an Advanced Copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are of my own.
I loved this devotional book on prayer. Every devotion touched my heart and helped me realize my need to pray. It’s not another “how to” book on prayer, but a series of compelling daily reminders that I am in relationship with a God who loves me and desires to hear from me.
Even though these devotions are not lengthy, they are very well-written. I found myself thinking through what I’d just read, instead of reading it and forgetting it several minutes later. I’ve read an ebook for this review, but I am going to purchase a print copy of the book to use during my devotional time in the mornings. This book would make a wonderful gift for others, too, as well as for your own personal use.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
