This illustrated book is a wonderful resource for middle-grade readers to learn about the US Constitution in a fun and engaging way.

I may be an adult well-versed in this subject today, but I had learned about the US Constitution and politics from the media and a confusing high school class. I wish I had a book like this available, and I would surely buy it for my children. The illustrations, colorful background and fonts are absolutely gorgeous, and that alone is often enough to hook a young reader. What's more, the writing itself is simple, clear and engaging. We have fun facts about how the country is run, quotes and engaging questions which I would love to discuss with kids.

There's not a single thing I disliked about this book, so I'm compelled to give it a 5-star rating. I would highly recommend it for young readers, I would say between 4th grade and... well, any age.

One thing I am ashamed to admit is that I didn't know much about the US political system's actual hierarchical structure before reading this; so, when I saw this book, I knew I was the target audience (aside from the fact I'm an adult). This is a really clear, concise look into the basics of the US political system and the structure of their society. I believe that this book would be absolutely excellent for years 4 and above to teach them about the political system of the US. This book has some very cute, bright illustrations accompanying the information explaining the details of the Congress, Senate, House of Representatives, and the different amendment rights and some issues within them (including racism, intersectionality, etc.). I thought that, overall, this was a really insightful introduction to US politics for kids that covers all angles! An excellent read!

I was granted the opportunity to read this book, as an advanced reader copy, in exchange for an honest review. I thought this book was very informative. I think the information, which may appear "boring' to middle grade learners, was laid out in such a way, with engaging illustrations, would be very appealing to students. I would highly recommend this book to anywhere from a strong 3 rd grade reader and up. I think this book would even be helpful for middle school and high school. Well done to the authors!

What an excellent resource! We are going to be homeschooling in the fall and i needed a book for my son to learn about the constitution that would keep him interested. this fits the bill entirely!

Not being from the US we know and are taught very little about the constitution of the most powerful country in the world. Every country has a constitution I’m sure but we hear about America’s more than that of any other nation. This book clearly outlined its contents- in a well explained, informed and transparent manner. My sons and I dissected it and debated the meaning behind the different clauses. We discussed the need for such rules and regulations and what actions on the part of citizens could lead to a person’s constitutional rights being denied. It really was a worth while and informative read and I cannot wait to use it in my classroom while teaching when we return to school.

This book is a great resource for young adults and fully grown adults as well to learn about the constitution. This is very easy to digest and would be a great read for everyone to access. The illustrations are fun and engaging to younger audiences.

This book intrigued me for different reasons. I'm a lawyer from Brazil and I'm always interested in learning more about the law and how it works in other countries. I've spent a good deal of my life in the USA, having lived there on and off as well as studying at a university in upstate New York - and while I feel like I know a lot about the US constitution, we can always learn something new.

This was a fun romp through the constitution, the amendments and bill of rights, as well as the structure of the judicial, executive and legislative branches. The illustrations were delightful, and I really enjoyed all the tidbits and anecdotes about people like RBG and Michelle Obama.

The text is easy to understand while still keeping key wording, and I think children would really enjoy having a lot of "adult talk" sort of broken down and demystified, while still feeling like they're learning and taking part in a bigger conversation.

I loved this book and would 100% buy it when it comes out. I teach the 3 branches of government and how a bill becomes a law. I think this book would be beneficial because it explains things in a manner that is easy to understand and is colorful. I think students would enjoy this book as well as adults for all the interesting facts and information in it.

A clear, concise explanation of the American Constitution, Bill of Rights & subsequent Amendments. This book explains a complex system, especially for a British audience, in a way that young people will understand. The layout is attractive and the inclusion of case studies brings the subject matter to life. The addition of a glossary is always useful as is the guide to additional reading and relevant websites.
A useful addition to any school library.

How many of you reading this review remember when Khzir Khan held up his copy of the Constitution during the last election cycle?  How many of you recall anything that you learned about this document during your school years?  It is so incredibly important to understand our Constitution, maybe never more than at this particular time.


This book provides a wonderful introduction (or refresher) to the important points that are included in the Constitution.  It truly deserves a place in school and home libraries. The authors do a marvelous job of bringing their text to readers in a readable way and the illustrations will also engage children. 


The authors begin by acknowledging the complexity of the Constitution and the difficulty that readers may find when encountering it .  Nonetheless, they encourage children to see the original document in DC if they can.  They then go on to make the Constitution accessible and relevant.  There are clear explanations of  the document and children will understand concepts including the branches of government, the amendments and more.  They will also learn lots of trivia facts; for example, they will find out that the Constitution was written in secret.  There are also many "What do you think?" sections that will invite readers to explore concepts..

Most of us learn very little about the Constitution in school. Additionally, many books about foundational documents are dense and full of complex political theory. And that's where books like this one step in. It walks us through the constitution, first the base articles and then the amendments. For each point we are shown the actual text, given a brief clarification of it's meaning, and some examples of the information in practice. Even more importantly, it presents us with questions to consider. The ultimate goal is to understand our rights and the structure of our government. This is a book I'd recommend to most anyone, kids or adults.

Please excuse me while I run out and purchase this book for all of my middle school social studies teachers. I'm not kidding. We the People makes learning about the Constitution fresh and approachable for students. It includes quick glimpses into the past as well as modern examples of lawmaking and amendments. It also includes many examples pertaining to young people and highlights various minority populations. This text would make a great classroom text as well as library addition.

It was a bit difficult to enjoy this book in ebook format, but apart from that, I found the graphics to be very engaging. It simplifies a lot of difficult concepts, but not necessarily in a dumbed down way but one that instead makes it accessible to a younger audience. There needs to be more civic education and discussion in our educational system, so books like these are helpful in filling in those gaps.

This book was incredible! I can't brag enough on how much I was able to revisit and even learn while going through this.

I would say that this is definitely not one that I could easily share with my girls, so I'm glad I looked through it before sitting them down. I would definitely love to have it in hard copy to share with them one day, and even for my own reference.

The vocabulary would be perfect for a later-elementary or early-middle schooler. Esthetically, it is super vibrant, but not over the top so it would be an eye-catcher for sure.
