Description

Once a C-list actress with a fading career and now known throughout the world; she split a family apart and turned a husband’s world upside down to get there. How did she do it?

Meet Meghan Markle’s alter ego, Ms Madison Mountebank. This is the tale of Ms Mountebank’s calamitous romp through the royal family of Britannia. How she met Prince Harry, lured him into her world and turned him from a soldier with a sense of humour who liked to have fun into a walking, talking, crying, whining, living doll re-programmed to do her will.

See Harry’s family watch in dismay as he changes before their eyes, while Meghan/Madison is hard at work making them dance to her tune. Watch her fury when they don’t cooperate, her jealous rage when she realizes she’s only part of the supporting cast, and her growing determination to get the star billing she craves, whatever it takes.

This is a picture of how the Meghan Markle saga unfolded, non-fiction re-imagined as fiction, a satirical insight into the people involved and how Meghan/Madison worked her sparkle.

Once a C-list actress with a fading career and now known throughout the world; she split a family apart and turned a husband’s world upside down to get there. How did she do it?

Keeping Up With The Kensingtons is a fun and easy read, a satire on the modern workings of members of the royal family. It's a laugh out loud read that doesn't take itself seriously but is a great escape from the world for awhile.

Lady Colin Campbell's book has not been released in the United States yet, so while you are waiting, Keeping Up With The Kensingtons is a delicious satirical snack. It is a quick read, detailing the romance of Harry and Madison Mountebank, Her Royal Showbusiness from their meeting in May...oops, I mean June 2016 up to spring 2020, which finds the couple in California.

The story is told from an array of perspectives and starts out with Harry claiming it is his story. Over the course of the book however, and as the story gets more soap opera-ish, we have fewer insights from him, which I think was absolutely done on purpose.

I did receive a copy of this book from Netgalley for my review. I would wholeheartedly recommend this book for a quick, fluff read. Brava to the author for going out on a limb and braving the Sussex Squad's fury.

Reviewed through Netgalley - thank you

Firstly, this is a very quick and easy read, perfect for lighthearted reading. This book covers the relationship of MM and PH, it’s very current and up to date. I found certain aspects witty but there were other parts of the story that were a little repetitive. Told from various angles, it neatly expands on what has been discussed in the press - after all - readers will never know the full one and outs of the Royal Family.
Perhaps my favourite point was where the author surmises - you don’t join the royal family to be progressive - you become a traditional.

Such a fun read. I was laughing out loud several times. Great satire and pleasantly took my mind off all the tensions and problems going on in real life.

Keeping Up With The Kensingtons by Solanah Fane presents an interesting approach to the ups and downs a most popular royal family generally experience. An actress marrying into a so-called "blue blood" family changing the whole dynamics display the core insight of this satire. I particularly enjoyed the manner the author wrote this book. The storyline provides a light reading approach but one needs to use some philosophical thinking to grasp the irony in the book as well. Personally, this story I would need to re-read to grasp the intense message and the detail hidden in the storyline. I find this material exceptionally interesting to read and I, therefore, recommend this to any person interested in the "Brittania" Royal Family.

This book is HILARIOUS. I am a huge fan of the royals, though not Meghan Markle or Prince Harry, and this thinly veiled satire is everything you'd want it to be. It's a fun, juicy look at the machinations of the royal family and the difficult few months with Meghan Markle involved. It's silly and fun and the perfect summer read.

What a fun & funny read! This satire of what has transpired since Prince Harry & Megan Markle met is a perfect story to read, if you are bored with staying away from others, or just want to read something that will have you chuckling frequently. Very well done and very strongly recommend!!

Thank you to Netgalley, the author Solanah Fane, and the publisher Books-Go-Social for a free ARC in return for an honest review.

This was a hoot, very naughty, but so funny. Not for the ardent royalist I suspect, but for anyone who needs a laugh this is well worth a look.

This book certainly won’t win any awards for literary fiction. However, it will give you a belly full of laughs. I have just spent the time reading whilst calling out to my husband ‘ listern to this’ then reading sections in appropriate voices.
He was laughing. Not sure if it was at the book or me though.
Very quick reading of an entertaining book.
Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the arc in return for an honest review.

This was a fun satire read about a very famous/scandalous couple. From the get go we know that our main character is based off of Meghan Markle, and this book makes me want to read more on the topic, as I've tried to stay away as much as possible.

I received an advance copy. All thoughts are my own.

Keeping Up with the Kensingtons? Oh the world has seen how the Markles's have been trying to desperately achieve that for the past 3 years and failing miserably.

I chuckled. I chuckled a lot while reading this. It was a hoot! I applause Solanah Fane's bravery for writing this piece of satire, especially when we all know how 'loving' the Sussex Squad can be towards people who dare to question their darling Meghan's claim to being a 'perfect angel/saint'.

A big thanks to the publisher BooksGoSocial and the author for giving me an e-Arc of the book.

As a royal watcher for over 20 years myself, I got my hands on this book thinking it woud be a good escape after the harsh reality we've lived since The Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided to quit the royal family.

I must say that an escape it truly was, picking up countless stories between tabloids and "friends" of the couple sharing about their private lives and meticulously putting every piece together to build a web of fun frivolity.

Madsy (as Harry calls her) wants to have it all and to have it all, she has to step on everyone. Harry tries to please her but in the meantime, he manages to make bad decision after bad decision, echoing their real counterparts with a scary accuracy. These enhanced personalities gives this whole book a very fun background that makes us enjoy other characters, like Willy and his wife, the Queen and Harry's father,

If you're a fan of the real life couple, this book might not be for you, for it can be quite sarcastic at times and that doesn't put your fave's counterparts in a good light. But if you want ot laugh a little and have fun with a quick reading, this book is for you, even if you know NOTHING about the British Royal Family and their family issues.

I was looking forward to reading this book due to the contemporary nature of its contents - a satirical, fictional reflection of the current British monarchy and Harry and Meghan's departure from royalty. While I would highly recommend it to readers who enjoy satirical humour, I found this genre was simply not for me. The below review will reflect my personal opinion but is in no way a reflection of the book itself.

Admittedly, I think the difficulty here was that this was my first toe-dip into satirical writing. I could certainly appreciate the humour, sarcasm and wit that oozed from each paragraph, in particular from the newspaper clippings, but I thought this came across at times as slightly disrespectful (such is the nature of satire itself). I also struggled slightly with the over-the-top character development; Harry as a little lost puppy aiming to please, and 'Madi' a spoilt brat who constantly wanted her own way. The only character I felt had any essence of royalty was William. I believe this was done purposefully, and I think that such a short story needs its characters to make a punch as quickly as possible within only a fragment of pages. Again, this is part and parcel of the nature of satire as a genre but not something I felt particularly appealed to me as a reader.

That being said, I finished the book within 24 hours. The split in narrative between the main characters alongside the newspaper reports kept the story moving and allows the reader to gain the perspective and feelings of all parties involved. There are clear links between real life events and their fictional counterparts which meant, although the story didn't have a particularly strong plot line, it was clear from the get-go which commentary referred to which events.

On a personal level, I would rate this book 3 stars as it didn't suit my personal reading tastes or preferred genres, perhaps because I am of the generation where satirical humour has taken a backseat. However, I would definitely recommend this as a work of satirical fiction to those who enjoy this style of writing and therefore it earns a solid 4 stars within this genre.

It is an extremely funny book. And it’s not very long, so I finished it in one go, but mostly because it’s extremely funny and although I don’t judge anyone whom I don’t know, but (and I say this with deep regret) I loved every second spent reading this book. If you like reading about the royals or are just in a mood to read something light, funny and exceptionally written, this is the perfect book for you.
MUST READ!
