A Bride for Cody

Good story
Having met my husband only a month before we married I can really feel for mail order and proxy brides and grooms. To add an additional factor Cody didn’t actually write for a mail-order bride, the ad was written by his sister and cousin. Both Cody and Riona had served during the Civil War, Cody as a soldier and Riona as a nurse trained by Clara Barton. Both still are suffering from what is now called PTSD. Linda Carroll-Bradd brings us a story that touches so many issues for newly weds to have to tackle. I enjoyed watching Cody and Riona travel the journey through twists and turns to happily ever after.

This was a sweet story about two people that suffered in the past finding love and a happily ever after. Good story

This is a well written book that will keep you turning the pages to see what happens next. This is not a typical mail-order bride story. It deals with what is now known as PTSD. Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down. If you are looking for a clean heartwarming romance, grab this book. Thank you Backlit PR via Net Galley for the complimentary copy of this book. An easy to read book. It was the story of two people who come together. The characters were interesting and it had a good storyline .l enjoyed finding out how they would solve their problems. I recommend that you read this book.

“A Bride for Cody”, by Linda Carroll- Bradd (Backlit PR), is a sweet, quick, entertaining historical read, with strong, believable characters.
Both affected by the trauma of war, Cody and Riona meet in unusual circumstances and both their own independent and honest temperaments contribute to the slow mutual attraction.
I liked that Cody’s strength is mixed with vulnerability and Riona’s straightforwardness and practical sense come with a generous amount of kindness.
I loved the tentative honesty between Cody and Riona, the setting (southern California) and the apple farm.

This was a well written book that wasbswert and dealt with a relationship. The heroine is an independent nurse fron the Civil War who becomes a mail order bride. The hero is a Union soldier who wandered for a while before moving to California to work his uncle's apple orchard. When his uncle passed, he inherited the farm along with his aunt and cousin. The heroine works 12 hours shifts and took care of her mother until her mother passed. She lived in a cottage bequeathed to her in West Virginia. She moves to California as a proxy bride and the story developes from there. It is a sweet book, so very little intimate contact. The hero's cousin is planning on getting married and her mother refuses to leave the barn, so the hero's bride has to have nursing experience. But they both suffer from their experiences in the war.
This was a well written book with likeable characters. The story read very smoothly and highlighted life after the Civil War. A very nice story, 5 stars. I would recommend this story for a nice afternoon read.

This is another fantastic book in the proxy bride series. You can read this one alone and not be lost. The characters in this book are well thought out and are interesting. The independence of Riona was written wonderfully. Cody is a great guy in a difficult situation. I felt the story was great and the characters you can relate to. I am looking forward to more stories from this author.

I have enjoyed the Proxy Brides series with all of them I have read and A Bride for Cody is no exception! The history included in this series and sweet romance always bring a smile to my heart!
The author's wonderful descriptions and strong characters bring the story alive with Cody and Riona who have both endured the trauma of the war with lasting effects on their hearts and souls.
Riona only wanted to take charge of her life and as these two come together, a lovely story evolves that I could only sigh in happiness as I turned the last page....

I enjoyed this historical romance story with the two main characters that were Riona Gilbride and Cody Sheffield. Plus also the rest of the characters to.

Riona Gilbride was a nurse during the Civil War amd even after at a hospital. But now she has decided that it time to take part in caring for herself than others. So she decides to answer an ad to a matchmaking newsletter.

Cody Sheffield has survived the Civil War and also spend some years building the Transcontinental Railroad. He is finally finds solace on his uncle apple farm. When a change in his family circumstances demand that he seek a wife.

This story was quite sweet to read. A little sad at parts when the author talks about the war. There are also some happy things to. It was quite different than most mail order bride stories that I have read.
