This book has beautiful illustrations to match the rich, rhyming text. It is simple enough for a child of any age to understand. The Day God Made You by Rory Feek is a book with sweet illustrations and a great message for children. This book illustrates in a great way how God made us all, and that He made us all different but that is a good thing. On each page is a reminder of how God knows everything about us -- and I find this is a great reminder of both that God is our Creator and that He really does know all things. In a way, this book is short, yet it holds a lot in it and I think it is a great way to talk more about God with children. I also loved the illustrations.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher. However, I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions expressed are my own.

This charming picture book celebrates God’s design for every person. Author Rory Feek created this book for a parent or grandparent to share with a child, and it encourages readers to see God’s hand in their appearance, personality, interests, and family background. The illustrations by Malgosia Piatkowska are gentle and colorful, and they picture a diverse group of children with different ethnic backgrounds, hair colors, hobbies, and abilities. "The Day God Made You" doesn’t specifically address special needs children, but the illustrations throughout the book picture various children in wheelchairs, and the book’s underlying message is that God has lovingly designed all of His children, regardless of their differences.

The poem also lightly addresses the topic of suffering, explaining that on the day that God made you, He knew “the sound of your voice and the tears you cry too.” A later page mentions that God knew what you would struggle with, and how it would grow you. This gentle, poetic picture book can’t possibly take on the problem of evil, but I appreciate its honesty about life. This book doesn’t flinch away from acknowledging that life will be hard, and that God can still be with us in the midst of it.

"The Day God Made You" is sweet and reassuring, helping children see God’s love for them without making them the center of the universe. Some books with similar titles essentially tell a child that they are creation’s crowning moment, but this book helps children begin to see their identity, their place in their families, and their roles in their world through the lens of God’s goodness and great love for them. This is a wonderful book for families, and it avoids the trap of shallow, self-focused esteem messages to help children see their value in God’s eyes.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a peek into a beautiful book in exchange for an honest review.

This book would make an excellent addition to a church library and an child's bed table.
These reminders of the wonder of God and his purpose for us all should be instilled in our children's hearts.
The illustrations are lovely, as well. They take me to the simpler times that I wish for all children.

Don't let them grow up too fast!

In this picture book, a father shares with his child how God made her and He knows everything about her. It's a sweet story. My only criticism is that I would like to have seen something about how the child should then respond to God because He is her creator.

Well, I wanted to like this one. I like the title and the art is fine. It's just that the message is sort of generic and not different than other books like this. Sort of....vanilla in the rhymes used. God knew this. He knows that. Well, yes, but I wanted something more personal and connecting with the reader. Just didn't work for me.

This is such an encouraging book. It shows how diversity and differing abilities are celebrated, beautiful illustrations and encouraging words that we are all in God's hands.

This is a beautifully illustrated book that I could tell was written with love and a lot of heart-felt feelings. Each page is a new discovery for the reason God creates wonderful children to inhabit the world. It begins with the things of childhood and progresses to adulthood and all the difference that one child can make. It is an absolutely breathtaking look at God’s creation and the fact that each person has a purpose. Parents and grandparents will want to purchase this book and read it over and over again to their precious little ones, showing them the value that they have and how they were not an accident or a mistake, but a purposeful creation of a loving Father in Heaven. Charming and exceptionally Biblical look at how God sees each child He makes!

A wonderful poem filled with the feelings, hopes and dreams a parent sees in their child. Illustrations are beautiful, we had many different stories to go with all the pictures, but Indiana's story is definitely a great one to share at reading and/or bedtime.
PS: Cookies and ice cream are favorites at our house too.

Children love to hear that they are loved and accepted. The Day God Made You shares the difference your child makes in this world. Who they are, what they do, whom they love, it all matters to God. A book written by father to shares his love and God's love with his daughter. It is whimsical and lovely.

A Special Thank you to Thomas Nelson and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

This heartwarming picture book reinforces the specialness of each child. Written for his daughter, the sweet affirmations in the text are ones every child needs to hear. The rhythm flows well most of the time, adding to the enjoyment of the read-aloud. From their daily lives now to their dreams for the future, children’s imaginations can soar as they explore their own possibilities. I received a copy from Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

Very sweet book emphasizing how special the young lady is but also the others pictured. Kudos for including a variety of kids from different backgrounds. Graphics coordinate for the most part with the story except the section where the flamingos are in the water. Didn’t look like a zoo to me. Looked more like in the girl’s backyard. Kids love graphics and very colorful ones keep their interest longer.
I received an advanced copy at no cost from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.

This is a sweet book that would make a good bedtime story. Parents tell their children they were made by God.

Thomas Nelson's Children's Books and Net Galley shared this book with me for review (thank you), It is being published today.

They explain that God knows everything about you. He knows what you like and what you don't, He knows how you will grow up and what profession you will choose. He knows everything and He loves you.

This is a heartwarming story that will make your child feel more secured and more loved. The simple illustrations show off the story and even show a child in a wheelchair. God loves everyone...

This was a very cute book. It had a good message that I want my kids to know about how God feels about them. The illustrations were absolutely adorable. My 3 year old daughter said she loved it.

This would be a great bedtime story. It’s sweet and goes over what god knew when he made their child. But it can also be the child reading the book.

Beautifully illustrated and a wonderful message. I appreciated that the majority of the illustrations included POC and a few pages had a child in a wheelchair. The message of the book ends with a statement on how the child is the "best of your mama and the best of your dad." This feels limiting to me, so my only wish was that the book ended in a way that was more inclusive for families with adopted children and LGBTQ families.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
