Description

Welcome to the adventures of Domino corgi—a reluctant evil fighter--and his human and animal friends.

The Hexe is the non-stop action adventure introducing Domino corgi as he battles against inexperience and time to save Brewster Farm from destruction by a wicked witch spirit known as The Hexe.

Wild weather. Eerie sounds. Strange sightings. Weird accidents. The clueless humans sigh “that’s Brewster Gap.”

The animals, though, know plenty. The problem is they don’t know what to do—that is, until Domino arrives. And just who is Domino? A lot of things. A pampered puppy. An orphan. A runaway. A shelter dog. And now, the new dog at Brewster Farm.

The farm animals—convinced Domino is their rescuer, their hero—demand fast action on ridding them of The Hexe, an angry, resentful creature who hates change. And change rushing headlong at the dusty, forgotten farm—unleashes The Hexe’s destructive rage.

Domino hardly knows what it means to be a corgi let alone battle The Hexe. The animals insist the corgi was sent by Mother Nature—after all he arrived under a double rainbow—means nothing to the corgi.

Can Domino—who has no idea what or who he is--overcome his inexperience and uncertainty to save Brewster Farm?

Welcome to the adventures of Domino corgi—a reluctant evil fighter--and his human and animal friends.

Linda Montgomery pens a delightful fast paced story with endearing characters that keep the reader actively engaged. This is also a great choice for the young advanced reader in search of age appropriate content. Something I struggled to find for my advanced reader who was two reading levels ahead in school. Both my daughter & I anxiously await the next book in the Hexe series."

This is a delightful book whose main characters are a Corgi and a Parrot. Domino the Corgi is rescued by Jenny and brought to Brewster farm. Once there, Domino is told, by the other farm animals that he must save them all from The Hexe. What ensues is a great story where the animals can all speak to each other. There is even a lesson and education on shelters and pet ownership. I think any child over the age of 10 would enjoy this book and not be scared by the Hexe. A quick read for an adult. Wonderful characters both animal and human.

Domino is waiting to be adopted as he sits in his kennel. He says a prayer hoping that he will get adopted Jenny comes to the animal shelter looking for a dog to herd the sheep and be a watchdog. She adopts Domino as he is a Welsh corgi and they are known for herding. Domino is so happy to be adopted. When he gets to his new home, the Brewster home, he meets his soon to be best friend. Lovey is an African Grey parrot. Lovey talks to Domino in the universal language. When Domino is taken out to the barn, the animals asked him when he is going to get rid of the Hexe. The animals insist hat it is his job. How do they know that Domino is the one to do this? What is the Hexe? Domino learns that he needs to know what it is. When he learns, what it is, he finds that the Hexe appears to be indestructible. Domino doesn’t know what he will do. Will he be able to get rid of the Hexe?

Domino shows how to be friends with someone different from him. He learns many things about himself. The story is filled with adventures and the mystery of the Hexe. It is also a story about feeling loved and safety. This is a sweet story with a little creepiness in it that shows how Domino can overcome fear. I enjoyed following Domino’s story of learning what he can do in spite of fear.

Domino is a lost pup. Not lost wandering, but lost as in - within himself. He didn't know he was a Corgi until a bird told him. He lacks confidence in all of his natural doggie instincts. So when all the signs point to him being the answer to ridding the farm of the Hexe and all the animals are counting on him. He struggles in more ways than one to figure out what he should do and how.
I read this book to my 8 year old and it was a pretty big hit. The characters are fun and easy to understand and empathize with. The story is intriguing without being too scary. I even think he could have probably read this himself. When he found out there were more of these he keeps asking me to get the next one and the fact that the title talks about a ghost has him excited.

This was such a delightful book! Domino the corgi was such a wonderful character to follow. As a corgi owner, I was very sad about how he was portrayed in the beginning but luckily he was adopted and was given a better life, however, Domino lacks the confidence of a dog. Throughout the book, he finds that confidence and he is tasked with getting rid of The Hexe. I really enjoyed the fact that all the animals could communicate with each otherI had fun reading this and I feel like children older than 8 could read it and not be frightened by the Hexe and the story.

I'm sure this is meant to be a children's book but I really enjoyed it. It had an engaging storyline and excellent characters. It was a lovely light read which made such a refreshing change for me. Already reading the second one in the series.

🐶🐦Animal characters & plot engaging but a bit slow in spots🐔🐑

I think children of 7, 8 and maybe a few years older will enjoy Domino the corgi's adventures in this well-written book. Each of the animals he encounters on the farm and the surrounding countryside after he is adopted by a newly-arrived university president has its own distinct personality. The hens and sheep are particularly vocal in their insistence that Domino play the hero and rescue them all from a sinister, shady character lingering in the woods nearby. Domino grows into his role of protector for both human and animal residents on the farm and Lovey the parrot is a perfect sidekick that boosts his self confidence and translates what the humans have to say about the strange incidents in and near the farm.

There are some spots where I think the story was strung out to add a bit of suspense and instead it just made me impatient and annoyed at the tactic, most notably in the telling of the legend of the Hexe. But, overall, it's a cute, suspenseful mystery with some interesting subplots and a plea for proper selection and care for pets. And, if mom is involved in reading the story for her children, the author has thrown in a humorous reference to a snobbish Pride and Prejudice character that made me chuckle.

Thanks to publishers BooksGoSocial and NetGalley for providing an advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

I enjoyed this story with all of the characters. Domino is waiting to be adopted at the local animal shelter. He says a prayer that he hope that he will get adopted soon. The next day Jenny a local farmer comes to the animal shelter to adopt a dog so it can help herd the sheep on her farm. So when Domino gets to the farm he meets the animals there and also finds out that they need his help with the problem with the Hexe.

This was a fun read with its adventure and the mystery of the Hexe. I feel like this book could be more for middle age children and older. It does have a bit of scary to it so if you don't like ghost or things with a bit of fantasy.

I received a complimentary copy via Netgalley. This is my honest unbiased opinion.
