Description

Atlanta, Georgia. Present day. A young woman is brutally attacked and left for dead. The police investigate but the trail goes cold. Until a chance assignment takes GBI investigator Will Trent to the state penitentiary, and to a prisoner who says he recognizes the MO. The attack looks identical to the one he was accused of eight years earlier. The prisoner’s always insisted that he was innocent, and now he’s sure he has proof. The killer is still out there.

As Will digs into both crimes it becomes clear that he must solve the original case in order to reach the truth. Yet nearly a decade has passed—time for memories to fade, witnesses to vanish, evidence to disappear. And now he needs medical examiner Sara Linton to help him hunt down a ruthless murderer. But when the past and present collide, everything Will values is at stake …

Will Trent and Sara Linton return to try to ferret out the truth about a killer. A man already imprisoned for a series of grisly crimes becomes central to an investigation into an attack that leaves a woman near death. The crime is almost identical to the one the prisoner was convicted of, the crime he always swore he was innocent of. Is there a copycat at work? Or was the wrong man convicted? Early is an excellent narrator, with a clean, clear delivery of Slaughter’s latest Will Trent mystery

The Silent Wife by Karin Slaughter is simply riveting! It’s the 10th book in a series featuring special agent Will Trent. It can be read as a standalone however, if you haven’t read any or all the books in this epic series you might be slightly confused by the history of these complex characters.

The Silent Wife is such an enjoyable listen. Listening to this audiobook truly added to the killer who simply freaked me out like no other character I’ve ever read before. Karin’s writing is beyond suspenseful and some of the best and most graphic, detailed, twisty and dark reads out there. It was just as much disturbing as it was horrifying and again listening to it gave me the chills. What an epic narration of this story.

Set to publish August 4, 2020. I highly recommend this to all crime and thriller readers everywhere!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this truly mesmerizing advance audiobook copy in exchange for my honest review. Can’t wait to see what’s next in this series!!

This is book 10 in the Karin Slaughter series ‘Will Trent’. Although I have not read all the books in this series I was absolutely captivated by this one. I have read The Ket Woman (book 8) and after finishing this one I am super excited to go back and read the other books!

The Silent Wife follows two time lines that have the same crime. Will Trent must look into eight year old cases in order to solve the ones of today. There are a few difficulties: someone is already convicted of the past murders, almost all witnesses or survivors have disappeared, and in order to understand what happened then, he must dig into the past of the police chief, who just so happens to be his girlfriend’s dead ex husband. This was such a great ride! Not only did I really enjoy the character drama, but the fictional crime was so fascinating and entertaining.

The Silent Wife - ★★★★/☆

Brutal, shocking, and moments of humor peppered in- if you’ve ever read her books, you know I’m talking about Karin Slaughter.

Thank you NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. I absolutely loved and devoured this book. It was a gripping and binge-worthy read. I did not guess the killer and those are the best kind of books. I rated it 5 stars. It was absolutely amazing.

This GA girl is the best author to come out of our home state or any state! She writes the BEST books. I got so involved with Sara and her job takes her to so many crimes scenes. She knows her stuff and catches those evil devils, it's like your right there with her every step of the way. And you don't have to start with the 1st one of her books but it is a good idea because you get to know her friends, co-workers and enemies. My favorite on this book was how evil this guy she was tracking down. My gosh he was so horrible and I was worried he would get away after doing all his tortures. I think that I gotta listen to it on audio now. Yep I love those audio books! If could rate it a 10 I would! Can't wait for the next one!

Will and Sara are back, and Slaughter fans couldn't be happier. Her characters are fully developed humans, rather than the standard stereotypes; the plot is complicated and the prose is brutal. This 20th novel by the very gifted Karin Slaughter is part of her series, but reads as a standalone. Highly recommended.

What could be better than a story with Sara, Will, and Jeffrey??? I loved the past and present storylines in this one and loved the past and present characters all in one book. Well done. And the mystery and investigation was superb.

Let’s take a minute to talk about this book. First, thank you to @netgalley and @williammarrow for an ALC copy of @karinslaughterauthors newest thriller. Second, HOW HAVE I NEVER READ KARIN SLAUGHTER 🤯!!! This thriller was so good with gritty realism, multiple POVs, and a dual timeline. The hunt for the real serial killer is intense and action packed. The author explores cultural ideas about rape and the damage it does to surviving victims. There were many moments that are hard to listen to but the message is so important. Sometimes the hard stuff to hear is the stuff we need to be listening to. I will admit that I guessed the murderer about 3/4 through but I didn’t really care. This book is a ride!

Excellent addition to The Grant County - Will Trent series. Karen Slaughter is an excellent storyteller. Love her novels and this one doesn't disappoint. It dives right in addressing women's issues and violence against women. Very timely. Great plotting and as always great character development. Many twists and turns and a surprise ending. Loved it. Don't miss it!
The narrator, Kathleen Early, does an excellent job. Her voices are spot on and she adds depth to the novel. Thoroughly enjoyed the audio version.

The Silent Wife kept me on my toes. I didn't figure it out until the end. This is my second book by Karin Slaughter, once again she created a good storyline. Some of the material was hard to read but it was done with great respect. I would recommend this book.

There are a few book series that I just have to listen to- and the Will Trent series is a must listen for me! The duo of writer Karin Slaughter and narrator Kathleen Early equals perfection! Early perfectly captures Will's integrity, Sarah's sincerity, Faith's frustration, Amanda's "let's cut the bullshit, even as I spread it" tone, and all the snark and danger and drama that Slaughter serves up.

In the Silent Wife, Will and Sarah end up working the same case, one that delves back into the past. Now both are being haunted by the ghost of Jeffery Tolliver- former police chief and the husband Sarah lost. Did Jeffery set up a pedophile in order to blame a rash of attacks on him, letting a serial killer go free? The GBI is in a race to solve the case in order to catch a killer and protect the legacy of a fallen cop. Another brilliant and brutal thriller from the Queen of Crime!
