This devotional is beautiful.
If you are planning to read Anne of Green Gables I highly recommend this to use along side it. There is a devotion that ties into each chapter directly.

This is a perfect book to give as a gift to the Tween in your life! With each daily devotional, there is an excerpt from a chapter in Anne of Green Gables followed by the devotional, a personal application, Scripture and a prayer. It has everything that parents are looking for in a devotional and it links the life lessons that Anne learned to lessons that teens and tweens need to learn today. I loved how practical and easy to read it was! I also enjoyed the excerpts from the book that was a favorite from my own childhood. Also, each chapter has a beautiful illustration with it. I am definitely adding this book to my list of gifts for my granddaughters for Christmas or birthdays. I think that they would even enjoy reading a chapter of Anne of Green Gables along with the devotional, so it would be prefect for homeschoolers who are looking for a book to read together for literature. The uses are innumerable, and the book is a real treasure!

As someone who grew up watching and reading Anne of Green Gables I knew I had to read this book. I am a stay at home parent and sometimes daydream about other things. But after reading this daily devotional I wanted to daydream a little more but Anne Shirley style. For those who are looking for a devotional that will bring back memories of reading and watching the movies then this is the one for you.

This is a great book, to read by yourself or with a group, it has discussion questions, Scripture, and a 40 day devotional. Kindred Spirts will love this book. I wish I had this book when I was growing up.

Really enjoyed this. I used it every day and I felt like it was relatable even though it was meant to be set in Anne of Green Gables time. Simple and easy to use. I would purchase this as gifts for friends.

I adored this little devotional! I am a long time lover of the Anne of Green Gables series and knew I had to check this out once I saw it! This book definitely lived up to my expectations! The daily devotionals have a related scripture, quote from the book, discussion of that quote/how it applies to the story, a personal application to the reader's life and then a prayer for the day. It was such an enjoyable read and is definitely one that I will come back to again and again, just like the AOGG series!

The kindle version I have had a wonky picture format, so what I am guessing are gorgeous pictures, were broken up on my screen. However, I did not take off stars as I enjoyed the book so much and it may just be in the ARC copy that I received!

I was so pleasantly surprised by this devotional!!! I quickly read through it to give a review, but I will definitely be purchasing one of these and going through it daily. I love Anne of Green Gables and I am so happy there is a devotional that incorporates biblical values into it. I love the Personal Application and Prayer for Today parts. This book is soooo precious! If you are a fan of Anne of Green Gables, then you absolutely must get this devotional. It is priceless. Each devotion starts with a scripture, then a short passage from the beloved novel, with an application for your life today. Then a prayer and another scripture. It is just truly a wonderful devotion. I have a digital copy but I will buy the physical copy. It is so good.

This is a gem of a devotional book. The author has taken key themes from 'Anne of Green Gables' and built Biblical reflections around them. Each devotional is a little longer than typical devotions, so they're really like short chapters. Each one starts with a quote from the book and a reflection on that theme, interwoven with scripture. Each short chapter concludes with a prayer and application. Difficult themes, such as abandonment sense of belonging, are dealt with sensitively. Even though Anne was first published in 1908, the universal themes still resonate today.

Although most people would be able to get something out of this devotional, it is obviously geared more towards fans of Anne and probably would be more suitable for women. If you're a Christian who loves Anne, or you're an Anne fan who is open to spiritual issues, you will find much to enjoy in this book.

It is a CHAPTER BY CHAPTER COMPANION FOR KINDRED SPIRITS (for those of us who love the saga of Anne Shirley). The GORGEOUS illustrations were done by Jana Christy. I’d get this book just for the illustrations!

I feel like she kind of summarizes the chapter that corresponds to the novel, then brings a short devotion concerning it. In the back of this book, there are discussion questions for each of the chapters…HOW CAN YOU PERSONALLY APPLY WHAT YOU’VE LEARNED FROM ANNE SHIRLEY, FROM THE SCRIPTURES, AND ULTIMATELY FROM GOD.
My personal favorite – other than the beautiful pictures – is THE WORLD ACCORDING TO ANNE SHIRLEY. This is a glossary of some of the quirky things that Anne Shirley says in the book. This is separated by topic.
I love how there is a Table of Contents, so I can see what’s included, or maybe go back to a section I particularly liked. There is also a Scripture Index, in the back.
You know I would definitely recommend this book. Personally, I believe that my 11 year old granddaughter would love it. I may even get it for her. I think it would make a nice gift for anyone, starting at maybe middle school on up to adults.

This book was a true bosom friend, kindred spirit, and homecoming all rolled into one. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of biblical truth Dodge drew from the Anne of Green Gables story and enjoyed all her many scripture references and quotes from the source material. This devotional was 40 days long and was so well thought out and organized. It went chronologically through Anne's story with each day of the devotional shedding some biblical light on a topic referenced in that day's book's passage. And that's not even including all the extras at the end! Discussion questions, a scripture index, and even an Anne glossary divided into topics ensured you could run your own bible study or book club with ease. I really enjoyed this devotional and think Rachel Dodge did a fabulous job. I would definitely want to buy my own copy in print. 👏😊👏

What a blessing this title has been to my devotional time! Very highly recommended no matter how long it may have been since you've read the stories. Also, a perfect gift for anyone you know who grew up on the stories. This devotional will be one that will be reached for time and time again.

This is wonderful devotional for an Anne fan. I enjoyed reading it each morning. The verses and Christian life applications paired with each book chapter were lovely. I am a true Anne fan and have even traveled to PEI to see all the LM Montgomery sites. I would definitely recommend this devotional.

Each chapter in the devotional corresponds to a chapter in the original story about an orphan girl adopted by siblings Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert. Dodge’s devotional helps draw out spiritual and biblical lessons that can be found in the childhood classic.

Filled with delightful illustrations, the devotional helps remind us that God makes no mistakes, while being a “gentle allegory for God’s redemptive, adoptive plans for each of us.”

Each chapter in this devotional companion uses Bible verses, a brief devotion related to that day’s chapter from “Anne” and a prayer to relate to that chapter’s featured examples and references. Each passage relates what Anne is experiencing to both what we and Jesus Himself may experience, such as a feeling of abandonment.

This was a first for me. As I never read a devotional based off a fictional book. But Rachel Dodge has done a wonderful job.

The book has 40 chapters broken down into daily devotions. Starting with Anne Coming to Green Gables and ending with Story of Anne’s Birth( how L. M. Montgomery wrote her).


It also has beautiful illustrations throughout.

Each chapter has the devotion with scripture and a prayer. And the End of the book has a question for each chapter if you wanted to use it for discussions.

In this heart-touching book, Rachel Dodge has given us a thoughtful and encouraging devotional for “kindred spirits” everywhere.

If you are a devoted fan of the “Anne of Green Gables” series, this devotional is a must-read. The book itself is a hardcover book that has lovely graphic designs and illustrations that capture the heart of each chapter.

But it’s the inspiring devotions that brightly shine all throughout the book. As you read through “Anne of Green Gables”, the devotions accompany and expand on each chapter. There’s a “personal application” for each day, as well as a written prayer and scripture verses. There’s discussion questions included for each chapter, and a glossary entitled “The World According to Anne Shirley”.

This book would be great to read with a young lady, or even a group of young ladies, as a faith-based book study of “Anne of Green Gables.”
I’m going to take time myself to read “Anne” again a chapter a day and read these devotions along with it. This book shouldn’t take the place of a regular, deeper Bible study, but who couldn’t use the hope and optimism that L.M. Montgomery shared with us in the vivid character of “Anne”? This author uncovered for us the deeper spiritual applications from that novel that we can apply to our lives each day.

Rachel Dodge’s The Anne of Green Gables Devotional exceeded my expectations. It is a lovely devotional tying the book Anne of Green Gables to the Work of God. After reading just too of these devotionals I went looking for my copy of Anne of Green Gables. I discovered this series not as a child but as a young adult. Still It has been many years since I had read the book. Now I am rereading it with a different perspective, a perspective of faith. From the opening statement by Anne Shirley, “It’s a million times nicer to be Anne of Green Gables than Anne of nowhere in particular, isn’t it?” I knew this would be special. By the end this devotional was reminding me, it is better to be call a child of God than a child of anyone or anything else!

I loved everything about this devotional, the colored drawings, the background of the book scene, the spiritual and practical application, the prayers and the chosen Bible verses. The only way it could be better is if it included more than 40 devotions.

This devotional along with a copy of the classic L. M. Montgomery novel would make the perfect Christmas gift. I am making my list now. My suggestion is to be sure to buy one for yourself too.

The Anne of Green Gables Devotional by Rachel Dodge is a sweet and faithful devotional that captures the spirit of L.M. Montgomery's classic novel. Dodge includes beautiful illustrations that would be worthy of an art print to hang on the wall.

Over the course of 40 days, Dodge examines each chapter of the classic novel, citing famous scenes and illustrating the faith and love of God that shows through each example giving examples of ways to implement the lessons in daily life. She also includes a prayer that can be personalized for each day.

Having loved the novel since I was a child, I still learned new insights from the book .I had not remembered that Diana's parents had refused to allow her to attend Queen's College along with Anne but Dodge reminded me that despite that, Diana showed herself to the truest friend, cheering on Anne through all her accomplishments and never showing bitterness or resentment. These are lessons we can all learn through this wonderful book.

While it seems as if the book is geared towards tweens and teenagers, lovers of all ages can relate to the stories being told and the lessons Dodge presents. I look forward to more devotionals by Dodge in the future.

If you've ever read Anne of Green Gables or watched the movie, then this devotional is for you! I vividly remember my mom forcing me to watch Anne of Green Gables when I was a kid. Yes, forcing me. Let's face it, the movie wasn't my cup of tea and I had no interest in it when I was in the 4th grade. But she loved it so much - probably much more since I have red hair myself. Well even though I didn't like it back then, as I got older, I fell in love with it surprisingly enough. After watching the movie for the first time with my own daughter, I instantly said, "We have to watch the sequel!" My daughter even has the series of books in her room and we've read the first book together.

So fast forward to this devotional. It is a precious companion to the first book, Anne of Green Gables. It is 40 days long, has original artwork and is based on God's love and faithfulness. Each of the 40 days corresponds with a chapter in the book which is perfect if you're reading the book at the same time. And I really love how it embodies the theme that we are all God's adopted daughters. This is such a precious read for anyone who loves the Anne of Green Gables series. And it would make a wonderful gift to a best friend too.

Anne of Green Gables was my all time favorite book. An introduction to Anne brought a breathe of fresh air. Her quirky antics and her outlook on life were always so uplifting. So finding a devotional which follows the book chapter by chapter was so sweet and fun. Over forty days we visited each chapter and found the Words God intended us to see. Really being able to examine what Lucy Montgomery might have been showing us through Anne. I look forward to one day sitting down with Anne the book and Anne the devotional and really studying them . It would be a pleasure to examine and read them together. I received a copy through Netgalley. A review was not required and done entirely on my own.

Quite simply, precious. I adored the sweet graphics and tender messages in this timeless devotional for all fans of Anne of Green Gables. I recently bought the whole set as a gift for a young woman and will include this perfect accompaniment with the series. I love that each entry corresponds to a chapter and reminds the reader of God’s unfailing love. Would be fun as young lady’s group study as well. I can't get enough of L. M. Montgomery and Anne of Green Gables, so of course I jumped on the chance to review this title. I expected a comforting little book, easy to read and gently reminding me of the good-natured attitude toward life and people Anne generally takes. I didn't expect to be curled in my chair crying, grateful for God's love for me. This little book packs a big emotional punch, reminding you of your value and worth in the Father's eyes, and challenging you to share his love with the world. I loved it.

As a fan of “Anne of Green Gables,” I am pleased to find that Rachel Dodge’s new book “The Anne of Green Gables Devotional,” is filled with stories and thoughts that link this classic to the word of God. I have loved Anne of Green Gables since I read the books back in elementary school. My love for Anne increased when the movies staring Megan Follows, as Anne, came out in the mid 80's.

So, when I saw The Anne of Green Gables Devotional; A Chapter-by-Chapter Companion for Kindred Spirits I knew I wanted to read it.

Rachel Dodge has done a beautiful job of combining each chapter of the book along with scripture to create a lovely, and treasured devotional.

The illustrations are beautiful and fit perfectly with the devotional.

Any Anne fan would love this book. I know I will treasure it.

Anne of Green Gables is full of spiritual wisdom! I loved this devotional. Each day was beautifully illustrated and the perfect length to read with my morning coffee. The author did a great job incorporating scripture and spiritual application with this classic story. This book is heartwarming and especially perfect for the fan of Anne of green gables. I highly recommend it!

There is beauty in taking something we all love and know and turning it into something unique and special. The Anne of Green Gables Devotional helped me see the story of Anne Shirley in a whole different light and It took a beloved story and showed me the face of the Lord in its characters that come to life through God’s word.

Rachel Dodge has thought of everything in this darling book and I feel blessed to have had the privilege to begin making these devotions part of my everyday. Rachels opening letter shows you just how God was a part of Anne Shirley’s life and this book and how in all of her quirkiness she was accepted for who she was, even if she exasperated Marilla and Matthew at times.

This book has everything in it for spending quality time in God’s word, with snippets from Green Gable books, bible verses, ways to personally apply what you have learnt into your life and a prayer. It is not only great for the new christian for guidance but is also a point of difference for someone that has been a child of God for many years. There is a comfort that comes from the words and great reminders of God’s love throughout.
What I find most endearing about this book and its author is that at the heart of it all is not only Rachel’s love of literature and Anne Shirley, but her acknowledgement of Jesus and her love for him moves me the most. Her devotion to God and love of community makes me feel like I have really found a kindred spirit.

Another heartwarming book! I love Anne of Green Gables, and Dodge's sweet devotional ties this series into the rhythm of every day life. Dodge weaves characters from the beloved books in with Scripture and subject matter that we could all learn a little from. Great gift idea for any Green Gables fan!

For lovers of Anne of Green Gables this will be a great buy. The devotional follows the story of Anne with each day covering part of the story and bringing out life lessons. I found the devotional very helpful as we follow Annes life and also have practical ways to put the ideas into our lives. For anyone who loves Anne of Green Gables this would be a wonderful present. It is well written and practical.
The author brings out life lessons from each chapter. Even if you have never read Anne of Green Gables but only seen the mini series you will find you can follow this devotional.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this devotional! I loved that there was a devotional for each chapter of the Anne of Green Gables book. The devo points us to the character and working of God as revealed in the story of Anne. Each devo contains an analysis of the Anne chapter, Scripture supporting the analysis and character of God, as well as personal application, further Scriptures to read, and a suggested prayer. In the back of the book are discussion questions. I wish they had been at the end of each chapter, as it was cumbersome to flip back and forth, especially in the digital version.

Any Anne fan will love this chance to dive further into the theology of the original Anne book.
