I am reviewing a copy of In the Shadows of the Shah’s through Lion Hudson LTD and Netgalley:

I thought this book would discuss religion more than mainly cover a woman's life through the Iranian Revolution. Not that the story itself isn't worth telling or doesn't deserve merit, as it's indeed an interesting life but just wasn't what I was expecting from reading the description.
I struggled with the timeline of the book moving back and forward between present day and memories in the past (which weren't presented in chronological order? or maybe they were and I just got myself confused). I found myself having to go back to previous chapters to try and figure out when certain things happened in relation to other events in the book. Maybe this is due to my ignorance about the Iranian Revolution.
I thought I would find more things to relate to as someone who also grew up across two different cultures and religions but I failed to make a connection to the author and the story.
