This is a fun little story about a son keeping his mom busy and helping her out throughout the day to wear her out and get her ready for bed. The role reversal was sweet and fun and the art was great.

5 Stars!

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

I spotted this book (and also the daddy-version) on Netgalley. I decided to first try out the Mommy book and delight delight, I was selected to read it. I guess I will soon have to get the daddy-version as I am curious what differences there are.

This book is about a little boy and all he does for his mommy. It is not just about letting her sleep (though he does allow her to do that at two points which had me go awww), but also about helping her out through the day. By dressing yourself, making sure that mommy forgets nothing during grocery hunting, helping with food, and other things. It was just so cute and adorable and I really liked this little guy that he does all this for his, clearly tired looking, mommy. It made me very happy.

I hadn't expected it, but it was a good and happy surprise, this book is about God and religion. I am Christian myself, though I mostly stay away from books about religion as at times it gets a bit too much. HOWEVER, this book was just perfection and it gave me a big smile seeing the faith so big in this beautiful home.

At the end there is even a bed-time prayer which made me smile even more.

I am also a fan of the art, it was really colourful and sweet.

This is a sweet story of role reversal, told from the child's point of view. It is about how to get a parent to sleep at night.  The book follows what the child and their mom do all day long, from getting up, to chores, to play, to that bedtime story.  The illustrations are playful, as when the child helps to clean the toilet bowl with overflowing suds.. Little ones will enjoy this title and it can make for a nice bedtime story.

This title is published by a Christian press.  There is some brief mention of God and the book ends with a bedtime prayer for mom and child.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title. All opinions are my own.

How To Get a Mommy to Sleep is a cute "How To" guide of sorts for a little one who just can't get their Mommy to sleep! The book explores different ways to "help" the Mommy and tire her out as the day goes on.

I read this with my 2 year old and we laughed together over it. The illustrations are lovely and I loved the inclusion of the baby sibling on some of the pages. The book ends warmly as the child cuddles with his Mommy and there is a prayer to share as well. I am religious, so this aspect was a nice moment to share with my son. We will absolutely incorporate this book into our bedtime routine again.

**Thanks to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson for the ARC of this title in exchange for a thoughtful review.**

Easy, rhyming, Christian, children’s book. I like how the story flowed along. I also liked the prayer at the end of the book. The illustrations were bright and colorful. Enjoyable read.

Oh this book is so delightful!! Such a cute gift for moms to be or to read with young children. I'd recommend for 3-5 year olds. I know my kids will giggle like crazy reading this!! Great job!

This delightful rhyming book contains advice written from one child to another regarding how to get Mommy into bed and fast asleep at night.

"Getting Mommy to take a rest
Is hard to do--it's true!
She seems to want to stay up late,
No matter what you do!"

The book is both heartwarming and humorous. The role-reversal bedtime story advises kids to start early in the day. It seems that Mommy never stops being busy and is always looking towards the next thing that has to be done sooooooo.... this little guy takes it upon himself to be in charge and see that his overbusy Mommy gets the proper rest and sleep that she so deserves.

The kid-friendly illustrations are so well done making the text seem animated and come alive. The book celebrates the themes of: caring for one another, spending quality time together, expressing faith in God through reading the Bible and saying prayers at night. Not something I really personally would give the readers in the age range for this book since I kinda don't agree with it. But this is a humorous goofy tale of a child putting Mommy to bed.

I voluntarily received and reviewed a complimentary e/copy of this book which I received from the author/publisher. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

This book is an adorable must have, I cannot wait to add a physical copy of this book on our shelves to read to my daughter at bedtime. It perfectly summed up my day & schedule as a mom with all the perfect images that go with the words and tell the real story of a little helping their momma nap. My daughter is big on rereading me the books I read her (& filling in her own details from the pictures) and this one makes her giggle & get excited because she sees so many things we do in our own everyday lives. Beautiful illustrations with lots of extra details, I absolutely loved everything about this children's book.

A lovely heartwarming book about a child pretending to put his mommy to bed along with doing her chores for her in the home. Beautiful illustration of mom along with her children in various activities of the day. A disclaimer this novel touches upon God and prayer. Over all i think its a sweet ode to mom's everywhere. Similar to Bedtime for mommy by Amy Rosenthal.. Review on amazon.

How to get mommy to sleep by Amy Parker is such a fun bedtime story. My children and I enjoy reading this story so much. The illustrations are wonderful. I definitely recommend this book.

How to Get a Mommy to Sleep tells the tale of a little boy who is trying to help his mommy throughout her day so she can sleep well that night.
The book starts by saying, " Getting Mom to take a rest is hard to do--it's true! She seems to want to stay up late, no matter what you do!" I'm sure I'm not the only mom who can relate to this. Most days I feel like I'm going from before sunup to long after sundown, yet still can't find enough hours in the day. In How to Get a Mommy to Sleep, her son spends his day making his mommy (who sports the classic mom bun throughout the book) breakfast, helping with the grocery list, cleaning up after his younger sibling, and ends the day by tucking his mommy in with his favourite stories. There is also a very sweet prayer at the back of the book.
My children and I all loved this book and will definitely be adding it to our library.

*3.8/5

Before How To Get a Daddy to Sleep, Amy Parker wrote a book about helping mommies to sleep.

The story begins with two kids and their mom waking up on the bed, ready to start their day. The mother is shown doing different stuff throughout the day, like cleaning, shopping for the household and cooking. All that time, her kids try to make her day easier, either by doing things by themselves or by trying to help her feel good.

I still appreciate the message behind the story, that being, spend time with your family and it's the little things that count. I kind of feel though, that the book fails to mention hard working mothers, with the mom here being a stay-at-home mom, which, let's be fair, can be just as hard. I'm just wondering why though, when in the other book, we see a hard working father.

The illustrations are, once again, incredibly cute. The story in general is very cute.

But, similar to the other book, the religious messages are present here as well. Bible verses, several mentions of God and a prayer that kids are supposed to say before bedtime. My advice, again, is to skip the religious stuff (I've mentioned the reasons to why I think you should do that several times) and you have a nice children's story about a mother spending time with her children.

This precious little book was so refreshing outside of the normal children's book. I would definitely recommend it for the older kiddos, but even I enjoyed reading it. I enjoyed the humor and the truth behind mom life. I could definitely read this one over and over and giggle everytime.

Dear God
Thank you for my mommy,
the best to ever be!
Watch over her and hold her close,
just as she does for me.
And, God, please help my mommy-
I know YOU know the way-
To help her find Your peace and rest
Through each and every day. Amen

Mommies do many things and this special book will bond you and your children ever closer. Remind you and your child that people matter. Mommies matter and child matters to mommy. It reminds us all that mommy does and how little ones can help. Makes the load lighter for every one.

A special thank you to Thomas Nelson and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

How to Get a Mommy to Sleep by Amy Parker, portrays a sweet mother-son relationship using 2 boys in the story.

This is a well-illustrated, cute and somewhat funny book for moms to share with their sons that I think would sell good. And yet I found a major concern with this book, and it is this: I perceive my easily manipulative sons will try to follow the examples presented in the book, and there are some instances where it would not be funny or even undesirable that them follow such examples (twisting the meaning of mom's words, playing with the water in the toilet or splashing mom while bathing).

For the reasons mentioned above I would not read this book to my own boys but I would be happy to sell it.

I loved this book. Maybe it was because I'm a little biased because I'm a mommy, but it was completely adorable. It saw the day through the eyes of child. How the different activities of the day are something that the mom loves to do. At the end of the story it has the mother and the child falling asleep together, which is how I always picture things happening. It is written from a Christian perspective. The illustrations of this book are beautiful and age appropriate.

We loved this book just as much as we loved 'How to Get a Daddy to Sleep'. Very cute rhymes and adorable illustrations make this the perfect bedtime story.

What does a mommy do all day? Well, lots of things for her kiddos! And when roles reverse and a child takes care of Mommy from early morning until bedtime, you can bet the grownup will be glad to go to bed. A unique way to help children appreciate and be thankful for mom.

I would have liked work outside the home included in the mom’s activities, as prevalent as this is today. “A Bedtime Prayer for Mommy & Me” at the end is a sweet way to end the book.

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

How to get a mommy to sleep is a beautiful picture book for children showing them ways to be more independent. The book gives the children reading it the impression that they can help their mummy with things to help her relax but it really is instilling independence in the child as what the children doesn't realise is that all they are doing is actually tiring their mummy out even more.

This book is adorable and I can relate to it so much. The amount of times I used to fall asleep at night reading to my little one is brought back to me in this book.
A must read for all children and Mummys!

Colorful Role Reversal

This is a cute, well illustrated story of a little boy sharing with a friend how he helps to get his mommy to sleep. It shows them as they go about their day, and he does little things to help her out, sometimes doing things to take care of himself and other times to help her directly. It was sweet to see the chores of the day from a child's perspective. We see a younger sibling every now and then as well. The end is charming as they read together and cuddle as they fall asleep. It's a fun role reversal that small children would most likely enjoy. This book does have strong Christian themes, with the Bible on the bed at one point and a Christian statement on the wall. The last page of the book is actually a prayer for a child to say. As such, it would most likely not be appropriate for families who are not Christian. The book is sweet and lovely, and the author should actually make a non-secular version of the book for all the families.

This is a cute book. The kiddo in it goes through the steps that a mom normally does to get a baby to sleep. It is cute and has adorable illustrations.

The cover art captured my attention and interested me in the book from the beginning. The cute artwork continues through out the entire book. It's a sweet story of raising kids and the importance of prayer in our lives. You will definitely get all the feels as you read through this short book. A great read for moms and children alike. I'm excited to buy copies to use for baby shower gifts in the future!

This book is adorable! My kids (5 &3) giggled all the way through. They enjoyed the bright pictures and "how the Mommy played with the kid." My 5yo said that the Mommy takes really good care of her kids. I enjoyed this book through parent's eyes as well. This was a wonderfully creative way to portray the love and devotion of parents even through the busyness and exhausting demands of the day. We will be purchasing this one as soon as it is released!

How to Get a Mommy to Sleep is another Christian themed book by author Amy Parker who also wrote How to Get a Daddy to Sleep. The book takes you through a little boy and his mom’s day showing children how to care for their moms for them to get things done and get a good night’s sleep at the end of the day.
Follow the little boy as he shows children how to take care of their mommy by helping her with chores, making her a breakfast so she can have her favorite treats (cookies in this case), getting dressed by yourself to show independence, helping her make a grocery list and shop and more. The illustrations show that things do not always go as mommy would have planned them, but regardless mommy still appreciates the help the son gives her throughout the book.
At the end of the day, the book reminds children to thank God for everything and after reading to (or with) Mommy to say a prayer for your mommy. There is a sweet prayer for children to say at bedtime to pray for their Mommy and themselves to God. For anyone who likes these kinds of books, it is quite sweet.
As with the other book, the illustrations are good and fun to look at while reading. The book is full of colorful images and sweet moments between mother and son.
While this book and the Daddy one may not be for everyone, or have a place in school libraries, I can see this being in a lot of home libraries for those who hold these things important in their lives and faith.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read this electronic version of the book in exchange for my honest review.

Every mother wants the best for her children, which sometimes leads to the fact that instead of allowing the child to get involved in household chores and activities for which he/схе is able to perform them, we spare him and perform everything instead of the children. The lack of responsibilities may be a good thing for them in the short run, but considering the future, we are not doing them any favor. Sometimes when we try to involve them in a certain activity around homework, we come across dissatisfaction, tantrums and non-acceptance.
This book for children, through skillfully incorporated verses and extremely good illustrations, in a subtle, and at the same time effective way, tries to show the children the world of obligations, as a part of their everyday life. As house chores should be performed by all members of the family, and children as well, regardless of their age, can be involved and feel useful and part of the family. Maybe their contribution will be small, but it should be praised and meaningful. The storybook gives a whole spectrum of idea how children can be involved.
At the same time, the picture book depicts the role and meaning of the mother in a very interesting way, as a fundamental part of the family. Someone who does not spare herself in order to protect and give the best to her children.
The added Christian prayer for the mother and the child is another plus for the picture book, enabling the children to learn something new and possibly useful, to deepen their faith and knowledge.

Thank you Net Galley and the publisher for allowing me that opportunity to read and share my thought about the children’s book “How to Get a Mommy to Sleep”
The story revolves around a small child who is just trying to give her the best day she can imagine and then put mommy to bed, as she has had a big day spending it with her child! I loved this book and wanted to call and share it with my grandkids immediately!!! I will be adding this to my physical book collection to read and reread to my grandbabies!!!!! Thank you

Thank you for the early reader book #Netgalley

This is a book for little kids on how to spend time with their mommy. Mommy tends to be a bit tricky, because she gets up early, and do chores. So how the kids can make her happy? By helping her doing stuffs, for example. A good book to help kids grow, learning about patience and being helpful.

I like the premise of this book - a child is "helping" their mommy get sleepy by running them through the ringer all day. There are plenty of cute instances where the words talk about being actually helpful, but it's clear from the illustrations that Mommy prooooobably doesn't see it quite the same way, haha. It's told in an ABCB rhyming pattern that has a very nice rhythm and flow to it and doesn't come off sounding forced. The length and content both make for a really nice bedtime story.

Warning for overt and subtle Christian content - there are Bible verses on the wall and a Bible on the bed in some illustrations, and it talks about saying prayers/thanking God and there's "A Bedtime Prayer for My Mommy & Me" at the end. If that works for you and your family, great - and if it doesn't, please be aware it's in there.

(Link spent the entire time reading the book "helping me" by pulling my hair. So. There's that.)

This is a cute rhyming book about getting mom to sleep after a long day of tiring her out. They do a lot of things throughout the day, like making breakfast, getting dressed, going shopping, and chores.

Cute book with great pictures! I read it with my 4 year old and we both loved it! It's hard work getting a mom to sleep since there are so many things that have to be done in a day but this little boy manages to make it happen. I especially liked the prayer at the end of the book. This is a good night time book for toddlers and preschoolers. Illustrations and story are appropriate for this age group.

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review.

How to get mommy to sleep is a sweet story from a child's point of view. The son goes through their day with the purpose of wearing his mom out enough to get her to sleep well. He makes sure to "help" with shopping, and also mixes in her favorite stories during storytime. I liked the unique perspective of this story.

I received an electronic ARC from Thomas Nelson: Children's through NetGalley.
Parker captures a mom's life with young children - constant motion. This is told from the child's point of view as he helps mom get everything done. Plenty of humor with enough truth for moms everywhere to understand. Lovely prayer at the end. Detailed illustrations bring the story to life for young and not so young readers.

Thank you NetGalley and Tommy Nelson/HarperCollins Christian Publishing Inc. for a copy of "How to Get a Mommy to Sleep" in exchange for my honest review.

This book is intended for parents and educators to read to children ages 4 to 8 or grades kindergarten to 1. The bold, bright, richly colourful illustrations will appeal to children.

The story centres on a little boy and his mom - how he tries to make sure that she has a good rest at night - sort of paralleling what parents want for their children. The day starts off with breakfast in bed for mom and nothing less than cookies and juice! They spend the day shopping, doing chores at home, playing outside, dinner of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, followed by a bubbly bath, reading some books and prayers.

This book is a wonderful tribute to all moms and all that they do throughout the day for their children.

A book from the perspective of a child who keeps his mother busy throughout the day so she can be tired enough to have a good night sleep. What a concept first of all,we always see mothers being overworked, tired but why children are doing this is such a cute idea.
Illustrations are cute ,colors are vibrant.

First, I want to thank Amy Parker, Tommy. Nelson Books and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.

How to Get a Mommy To Sleep by Amy Parker gave my heart full and made me smile. I may not be a mommy but I could appreciate this book being a very proud Auntie. I could tell that she wrote it from her heart.

This book is everyone who has mothered Amy and shown her what motherhood has meant to them: tireless, unique humans raising tired like unique humans-all created in the perfect image of God.

This is the second children’s book I have read of Amy’s and illustrated by Natalia. As I said in the past they are a really great team. I felt a stronger connection with this book emotionally not to mention it was comical too. Natalia did an incredible job creating comical coloring book-like graphics when it related to the story.
I really enjoy her Illustration skills. I also like how she intertwined Amy’s faith into the picture by having the Bible on the bed.

Like in her other book Amy had a prayer at the end of the book.

This would be a great book for a mother to read to her son or daughter at bedtime.

The illustrations are great, the story is just a story. It's full of very traditional roles for "Mommy" (she's obviously a stay at home mom) and there's zero mention of a Daddy anywhere in the book. It's sweet that the child wants to help his mom, and he definitely suggests some useful things to do, but there's nothing especially cute or ground-breaking or terribly unique to set this book apart from lots of other books about taking care of mom. It's cute, but nothing noteworthy.

For what it's worth, be aware that this book makes both subtle (in one illustration there's a Bible verse written out in a picture on the wall) and overt references to God (child and Mommy pray together at bedtime and the last page of the book is literally a written out "Prayer for Mommy"). [I'm a Children's Librarian at a public library so this is an issue I notice.]

Disclaimer: I received a free electronic copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley.com in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

When the back copy has a prayer I should realize this is a religious book and pass it on, but as it is a galley I didn’t realize it. This is a lovely inspirational book and pairs well with the Daddy title. It is very obviously a christian religion they talk about in this story as there are illustrations of the bible. The rhyme and flow were nice and the illustrations are lovely, but overall the book is not for me.

This is a lovely little book. A tribute to Mum’s everywhere. This is a Christian book with a prayer to share with Mum.
I do think the book is extremely cute and love the illustrations but personally I was a bit unsure of the message that to be good children need to not ask for help, and that Mum is only happy if all goes to plan. I don’t think this book is meant as deep and meaningful though and more of a sweet little read for a Mum and child.

Thank you to Netgalley for the chance to read and review this title.

This is a sweet "how tables have turned" book.

It literally lists everything that a mom would do for their kids but written from a child's perspective.

The child in the story does everything for the mom instead.
A very different take indeed.

Would make a wonderful read for Mother's Day!
