But while she is in the act of saving him from his cruel destiny, fate trips her up—literally—sending her tumbling to the bedroom floor and into the arms of her secret love.

The BookViral Review (United Kingdom):

With historical romance proving ever popular Landon weaves a delightfully spirited tale that courts intrigue as she lovingly resurrects her bygone era with an infallible eye for detail.

Autumn's Wild Heart doesn't have a particularly complex plot but it doesn't need one as Landon's forte is in finding the perfect balance between blossoming romance and heart rending indecision coupled with superb character development.

There's all the drama and sensibilities expected of fine historical romance with a sprightly narrative and richly layered detail that creates a genuine sense of time and place. But what makes her tale most notable is her unerring ability to delve into the minds of her characters who she vividly brings to life.

On this level, she's penned more than a captivatingly voyeuristic novel. It's piquant and playful as she puts us in touch with the battle of emotions raging in Nella and James. We know what we want to happen - what must happen, given the conventions of the time but London society seems arrayed against them - not through prejudice, but through inhibition, hateful ground rules and more than a little ill-will in the form of Lady Blanche. A character with no redeemable qualities who'll do her utmost to get the man she wants!

Cheeky in its approach, spirited and splendidly written Autumn's Wild Heart proves a must-read for fans of Victorian Historical Romance and is recommended without reservation!

Will their marriage circumstances doom their future ...

What an entertaining series this one is, while I still have the previous book to read, each story is unique and very different from the other.
First thing I remarked is the heroine on the cover matches her ink&paper twin’s description, and I loved it.
Then the narrative, by a comedy of errors Nella finds herself married to the man of her dream, one who never knew she even existed.
I have nothing bad to say about James, he never saw Nella as always being in the light, he never looked at the shadows, he has all the attributes to be the male counterpart of a diamond of the first water. So why would he have sought a shy lady on the plum side when all the sylphs of the ton were throwing themselves at his feet.
Still, with a little push, he does his duty to save them both from ruin.
Nella knows where she stands in the London’s society and it is not with the very sought after Earl of Danvers. Thus she fears his loathing and contempt. Why she asks to retire in the country.

I loved how their relationship morphed from resignation to friendship then more. Sure it is not love at first sight on James’ part. He even needs to imbibe to do his bedroom duty. And behind closed door for people preferring clean romance.
Still slowly he comes to realize his wife is more than her appearance, she is talented, friendly and well organized.
Thus they install themselves in a fair companionship, until the unresolved circumstances of their marriage come back to taunt them.
There is never a doubt about Nella’s feelings for her husband, it is James who is slowly won by his pleasant and welcoming spouse, as his affections gently tilt from a cozy friendship to a stronger sentiment. One he discovers run deeper as he realizes he needs Nella in his life for more than her presence and the requisite heir.

This slow-burning romance is definitely a must read.

I was granted an advance copy by the author, Here is my true and unbiased opinion.

This was a book that gave your heart a good feeling when you finished reading it. The heroine, who is a curvy girl, but well-dressed, is in her last season. Her father refuses to pay for another. In her first season, the hero saved her from an accident and she fell in love. But he never noticed her for 4 long seasons. And she never danced or had a suitor. She is at a ball and she hears the mean girls plotting to trap the hero into marriage with a drug in his whiskey. So she rushes to save him, but he has already drunk the whiskey, and he collapses on her. So all the gossiping buddies found her under him. No more spoilers.
This would have been a typical novel, but the story is so much better. It is a gentle story about a gently growing love. Foe those who like Sherry Thomas, you will enjoy this book. The ages of the players are very appropriate, and there are no spelling or grammatical errors. The story is a smooth, quick read for an lazy afternoon. This book does have a couple of twists and turns and I liked that. I recommend this book with 5 stars. It is very worth the time to read it and enjoy it.

1. I do not do spoilers unless warned.
2. Read the summary above; it will tell you what the book is about. I will not reiterate.
3. Even though this is a short book, the Characters are well developed. No loose ends.
4. Plot is a bit different than the usual historical girl loves boy in that our heroine is considered ‘round’ and the hero is the typical attractive, sought-after but decent man love story. This could very well fall into the Beauty and the Beast love story troupe
5. No errors that I caught as far as editing.
6. It’s an enjoyable clean (although implied sex) romance. I classify this as bubblegum for the brain: Keeps you occupied for a time and leaves you with a nice taste in your mouth.

What a cute, clean romance! It is the story of Nella, a slightly overweight, wallflower and James, the catch of the ton, being forced into a marriage. Nella is overlooked because of her appearance and ignored by the eligible bachelors during her last London season.. She has been in love with James for years, but he never noticed her. Nella overhears a plot to trap James into an arranged marriage . While trying to rescues james from this trap, she manages to get them into a compromising situation that results in a forced marriage. The interaction between the two characters is entertaining and quite interesting. The characters are well developed. Loved the ending. A quick, enjoyable read.

A well developed historical romance between a plump debutante and the pick of the ton. Her helpful nature, in trying to warn of a set up results in a marriage with the man who already has her heart, and as the plot thickens with threats from a rival and the couple work together Nelly and James find friendship turns to love. Really enjoyed this book.
