Super cute story...I loved the colors used in the book. The front cover really makes the book inviting and grabs the readers attention!

My little boy thoroughly enjoyed this book. The illustrations are sweet and lovely. Each spread is dedicated to a single colour. Lovely book for little kids learning their colours.

A very cute book to introduce colours to younger ones. The concept of primary and secondary color is a good addition.

A cute book about color theory for littles. I liked that as each color was introduced, the suggestions for what the reader could make with that color weren't the expected things; a yellow lake instead of a blue one, for example, or an orange forest instead of green. I appreciated the introductory color theory at the end also, explaining primary and secondary colors, but I don't see why it didn't name tertiary colors rather than just saying they were primary and secondary colors mixed (a minor complaint, not a huge deal). The illustrations were cute and fun, and this book should inspire young artists to play around with color!

Aren’t colors amazing? This playful book follows adorable little color blobs as they explore all the things you can do with them! We follow them through a series of color adventures that introduce the primary colors and how you can mix them to create even more colors than you imagined: it’s color theory 101, but way cuter! I do wish the opportunity to have the little blobs colliding and mixing had been taken advantage of in the art, as shown on the color-mixing example page at the end of the book - but overall this is a really cute and playful introduction to color that will bring kids to the beginning of a world of endless color possibilities.

A fun, entertaining book for children. It encourages your imagination and sparks ideas for even the earliest of learners. I can’t wait to incorporate it into my homeschool classroom.

This engagingly illustrated title provides a nice opportunity for the youngest children to learn about colors. They will learn about primary colors (red, yellow, blue), secondary colors (green, orange, purple) and colors that mix the two (turquoise, magenta, amber).

This book can be used as a picture book to teach colors. I think that it would also be great for the kids who read this book to have watercolors or finger paints so that they can experiment with creating colors of their own.

A great learning aid! Lots of fun for smaller kids. It’s whimsical and fun, and gives enough information to be truly informative without overloading the child.

What Can You Do With a Color? is a whimsically illustrated picture book for children (of all ages) by Gülşah Yemen and illustrated by Çağrı Odabaşı. Due out 27th Oct 2020 from CrackBoom Books, it's 32 pages and will be available in hardcover format.
This is such an appealing and accessible little book. Thematically, it introduces the concept of color theory, what the primary colors are, what they look like, how they blend with one another into secondary colors, and a tiny bit about tertiary colors at the back. Each page has a little bit of easy to read explanatory text along with a 2 page illustration showing a red sky with red birds, a yellow lake with yellow frogs (and a smiling Loch Ness monster), blue tree with a cute bespectacled blue squirrel, and so on for the secondary colors. The "narrator" (see cover) is a little thumbprint squiggle figure who color coordinates with each of the pages.

The art is simple and appealing and will enthrall. The illustrations are also rich in small subtle details which bear a closer look. This would be a great choice for a "read-to-me" session as well as a search and find game with toddlers and young kids.

Five stars. This would make a superlative reading circle book, classroom library book, or gift.

This a very simple book that encourages creativity and helps kiddos learn their colors. I liked the extra color facts at the back of the book and the illustrations were lovely. This book would be wonderful for young preschoolers who are trying to master colors and discovering their artistic abilities!

This was so cute!!! I honestly have not read a more adorable book on colors before. I'm way past the children's stage in my life, and I loved it so much; I'm sure kids of all ages would love and learn from this book. There is a little munchkin that narrates the whole book, and on each page, there's a new painting in a different color, explaining the world and it's shades to the reader. The illustrations truly make this book beyond adorable. I love the red birds, Nessie (not the twilight one, the Scottish one!) in the yellow lake, the yellow frogs (especially the one on the rocket!), the squirrel and the tree neighborhood, the little rose in the glass, the fox, and the bunny. The last couple pages dive even deeper into the education of colors and their abilities to make our world so beautiful. So much information on colors for little kids to learn from. The simplified language makes it so easy to teach children about colors and the primary and secondary ones, along with what happens when you mix colors to make new ones.

Everything about this book is so special and it melted me to read about this munchkin that changes colors for every new painting. I highly highly recommend this book be taught in all elementary schools, for kids aged 2-7 (and up!) and I highly recommend purchasing this book for any kids that you know because it is truly made with love and you should probably buy it even if it's just for yourself ❤️️️ ❤️️️ ❤️️️
Also, the author's bio is so cute and funny, she wants to be a child when she grows up, how amazing is that!

Cute illustrations, Bright bright colours. A nice little book to teach young children about colours and how they can be used creatively.

A chart towards the end invites children to mix hues. This will open up a world of fun and possibilities for a child who loves art and design.

This book is a complete delight. The illustrations are colorful and eye-catching. The story is both an exploration of color and how it can be changed when mixed with other colors, but the phrasing is so funny that it made my 4 1/2-year-old granddaughter laugh many times. As an example “ just think what you can make with them, monkeys floating in a green sky, birds flying through red clouds or frogs jumping into a yellow lake, open your imagination and explore the world of colors“

Some of the combinations are just hilarious. There’s a funny little blue squirrel who lives inside a blue tree, there are green monkeys and an orange fox in an orange forest along with a purple rabbit hopping down a purple sidewalk.

After the story there’s an explanation of secondary colors and primary colors and how they can be mixed together. It even talks about a rainbow and how colors always appear in the same order, it explains about colors that are warm and those that are cool.

I can highly recommend this book for your preschooler’s library. Adults will enjoy reading it and the kids will learn and giggle along with the story.

Such a quick and delightful read! It really showed how colors and imagination can go a long way. The colors were vibrant and the illustrations were fun, I believe it would keep any small child engaged.

This is a cute, sweet, and simply picture book discussing color and imagination. The use of onomatopoeia words was fun and would make this a great read aloud book. I also enjoyed that there was some factual information about colors and color mixing in the back of the book.

The pictures in this book are really cute. And it would be a great book to teach children about colors and how certain colors mix to create new colors. The book doesn't really have a plot, but I still really loved it anyway!

A nice book to help kids learn about color (and color mixing!)
Illustrations were nice to look at, and the extra detailing, such as the constellations in the green sky, were a nice touch.

Overall, 4/5- it seems a little advanced for younger children, but too simple for older children. There was no real story, which is my main reason for the deduction. It would be a nice book to give to a young artist.

I liked everything about this book and it would have been a 4 to 5 star read if it hadn't been for the ending. I really loved the silliness of this book and the different color combinations with silly animals, like a yellow lake with yellow frogs. However the ending is abrupt and felt like the story was incomplete. I wish it had brought all the colors together for a cohesive and symbolic together ending, like a rainbow. To me it would have fit perfectly and rounded out the story. I did enjoy the illustrations very much and the text had a really nice rhyming scheme. So close to being a perfect read.

I liked the idea behind this book, I liked how it teaches the primary colours and what new colours you can make by mixing them. My daughter was really intrigued and I am sure she will have a go at mixing properly when we next get her paints out – will make a nice change from her generally just making “brown” – it is 4 stars from me for this one – a cute little read

A cute children’s book following the adventures of a dot of color. Colors are cleverly taught in a way that is sure to keep children amused. Read this with my younger cousin and she loved it!

This was. a fantastic book about all the things that you can do with color! I would definitely read this to my kindergarten class and know that they would find it engaging, intriguing, and inspiring.

This is a good children's book that shows the different colours and ways in which to mix colours to create new ones. It is a fun book with beautiful illustrations that my daughter and I enjoyed reading. She learned a lot from it. It would be a good book to have in a classroom.

This would be a great book to use in the preschool classroom. Filled with primary colors and how to use them. A great intro to art!

A book about colours aimed at Preschool to 1st Graders, with each page filled with colourful illustrations which follows a “dot” of colour with arms, legs and eyes – and, oh yes, a brush – as it shows all the things you can do with colour, like changing the colour of clouds to red and then birds, as well. You can change a lake to yellow, and make yellow frogs, as well as turning a tree and a squirrel blue. Mixing blue and yellow to make green sky, or yellow and red to make orange for the now orange forest and an orange fox. Mixing red and blue for purple for a purple rabbit that goes hopping down the purple sidewalk.

Near the end is a ‘chart’ showing the Primary colors, the Secondary colors, and what colors you get when you mix these colors, and which colors are ‘warm’ or ‘cool.’

This is a really clever book to not only entertain younger readers and soon-to-be readers, one that will keep them engaged for the amusing, comical illustrations while they learn more about colors, and even a bit about rainbows!

This is a wonderful book to read to children. It's vibrant and and fun and would definitely help develop children's creativity and imagination.

The first thing I have to say about this book is that it belongs on every Pre-K and Kindergarten bookshelf, as well as all art teachers in elementary schools. It would make a wonderful gift for first time parents as well. The images are beautiful, the words have humor and are a delight to read to my child. She giggled and grinned while I read this book. Our favorite part was at the end where there was further color education on Primary and Secondary colors. I can't wait to read this to my other little one and see how he lights up at it. One of the cutest and fun books to read and look at that is about color for kids.

This book reminds me of books by Peter Reynolds. It is fantastic! The book would be a great introduction to colours and colour mixing. I can't wait to buy a physical copy for my classroom.

I read What Can You Do with a Line? first, and then hopped over to this book, which is clearly meant to be a companion. It's just as cute! This brief story introduces kids to colour theory while telling them about all the whimsical colour choices they could make for their drawings, like yellow lakes and purple cities. I love it, and I can see this being a tiny budding artist's favourite story. I would definitely recommend this book to fellow parents of young kids and to the early grade teachers in my life.

This is a great book to read to younger children. It talks about the different colors and how you can use color to make anything any color - want a yellow lake? You got it. Blue squirrel? Sure. It allows kids to use their imagination to show that just because clouds are usually white or grey... they can make them red if they want!

What's nice is that this book also talks a bit at the end (more in a parent section than within the book) about the different colors - primary colors, secondary colors, etc. Within the book it does mention that if you mix blue and yellow, for example, you'll get green. But at the end it shows the primary and secondary colors. It also shows what happens if you mix a primary color with a secondary color (you get a new color!)

This is a nice book for a toddler or younger child to have, for a caregiver to read to them.
