Description

Years ago, Elle ― never call her Cinderella ― escaped her evil step family in order to build a new life for herself in Manhattan. Today, Elle’s awful past is a distant memory. In fact, Elle even attends West Lake Prep, an exclusive high school where regular humans mix with members of the Magicorum, such as fairies, shifters and witches. Although she still must live in hiding from her evil step family, Elle always has found ways to get whatever her heart desires.

That is, until Alec Le Charme. Sure, Alec is the heir to the Le Charme dynasty of high-end jewelers, but he's also kind, charismatic, and has a knee-melting smile.

Long story short, Elle has fallen for Alec, hard. Unfortunately, thanks to Elle’s evil step family, the Le Charme heir is absolutely off limits. In fact, if Elle and Alec so much as kiss, it could start a magical chain reaction that would end in powerful factions of witches and wizards going to war. As a result, Elle and Alec vow to stay friends, no matter what. Then West Lake Prep holds a masquerade ball. Identities get mixed up and forbidden kisses are finally shared.

Time for the Magicorum to go to war, and for Elle to confront her hidden past in ways she never thought possible.

A really fun and interesting retelling of one of my favorite novels. I had an enjoyable time reading this and it held my attention the entire way through that I finished it within the day! I enjoyed every page and thought that the plot/story was very unique. Would recommend to anyone!

As a science fiction and fantasy reader, I found much to enjoy in this book from a voice that is new to me. Christina Bauer creates an inviting world and turns the plot well from page to page. Recommended for a reading trip to another universe.

It's not fully fairytales nor a type of Cinderella story. It's unique & a different reading consists of romance, magic, fantasy & much more.
We have two protagonists Elle Cynder & Alec Le Charme. Initially, the story plays differently for both but when they merge it become scrumptious, adventurous & more magical with conspiracies & a lot of love.
The book is full of strange creatures & tricks as well. The storyline leads to the destination of this couple but the point to be noted is how they conquer all odds.
Elle's character is strong. She deals with each life situation like a pro & also her character symbolises ingenuity. She is not Cinderella (as it is mentioned) but she is the cinderella that reader wants. This the key factor I found in her character.
In the story, she escapes the restriction, loses her parents but she emerges as a leading character, it shadows the male one & creates an attraction for readers.
Literary I enjoyed her character more than Alec.
The other protagonist Alec is also sweet, lovely & trustworthy. His decision competence is good & his slant behaviour towards his feeling is also a stimulus.
I found that his character is quite supportive throughout the story. But finally, his character gives positive vibes.
As far as the storyline is concerned it's fast-paced & unpredictable. The back to back strangeness in events and creatures put the reader in a hurry to catch the onward & entertain surprisingly.
I read only this book by the author but I have an opinion that the author is master in creating magnificent scenes with utmost beauty. I love each event I read in this book.
Moreover, the one thing that confused me is the character nomenclature. It's quite difficult for me to catch up with some of them but the hidden fact is that they are not so important. The important ones keep coming & shape the dissemination.
On the point of fantasy elements, it's full of magic and sometimes it mischievous. I like whenever magic is used in this story. It gives a waggish sensation.
I like the story and will read other books in this series also.

“First, homework. Then, jewel heist.”
Unique, magical, wondrous, fabulous.
Enchanted items that speak: violin, suit of armour.

“First, homework. Then, jewel heist.”

I quite frankly love everything about this book! Unique, magical, wondrous and fabulous, I’ve never read anything like it!

Whilst this is the fourth book in a line of fairytale retellings, you definitely don’t have to have read the previous books, though you will absolutely want to (like me!).

Strange creatures, strong characters and a gripping storyline - this is a must read! Based upon Cinderella, you’re left to wonder; who truly is the Queen of Hearts? Will Elle find her true love? How will her wicked stepmother affect her life?

Do yourself a favour and read this series!
