One of the best picture storybooks I have ever read based on multicultural background of different countries.

I love how this story showed the colourful occasion of Raksha Bandhan, a day each year Indians celebrate the special relationship between brothers and sisters.

This story accurately depicts well how it's being celebrated.

The siblings in the story are quite cute and unique in their personalities. And yes, I love the dog too!

I love how beautiful and perfect are the illustrations!

Thank you, authors and the publisher, for this amazing advance reading copy.

This book is just the sweetest! It would be great for any family or elementary school classroom. The illustrations are stunning with vivid colors drawing in young readers. The book centers an Indian holiday that celebrates the bond between siblings and has such a wonderful family thread throughout it. I also loved how it integrates patterning and math! It would be such a great way to bring in diversity and culture into a math lesson!

A pretty cute picture book about cherishing your family, remembering information, and doing fun traditions with your family. I really liked how Bina struggles to remember and make the bracelets for each brother! Wholesome and nice!

Bracelet's for Bina's Brothers was a fun educational book for children. I loved the beautiful illustrations and the careful attention to detail. The author showed patterns not only in each page for Bina but in the structure of the story. My 4 year old daughter noticed this and was delighted. I would recommend this book to parents wanting to broaden their children's view of cultures and to being recognizing patterns with their young ones.

What a fun read! I love that the author based this story around the Indian holiday Rhaksha Bandhan. I love to have children’s books that have diversity In them. We need more! In the story Bina is trying to figure out what color bracelets to make for her brothers (part of this holiday) who all have different colors they like and don’t like. She has to problem solve to create these gifts fitting each of her brothers favorite colors. Her sweet dog helps her along the way. An absolutely lovely story full of gorgeous colors and illustrations. One I would buy for my children’s library for sure.

Ooh, my heart is a pile of mush right now! What a sweet book!!!

Bina wants to make bracelets for her three elder brothers for the special Indian holiday of Raksha Bandhan. Unlike the usual solution of going for store-bought rakhis, she decided to make bracelets for them using their favourite beads and activities.

I loved how the book incorporated the mathematical idea of patterns into its simple storyline. And the illustrations are A-Do-Rable!!!!

I adore this book so much! I love Bina and the special relationships she has with her three brothers. I love how they include her, but still sometimes annoy her. I cannot wait to get my hands on this book to share with my students - many of who are represented by children in this book.

April seems too far away! I loved Bracelets for Bina's Brothers! This special holiday in Indian culture that celebrates the bond between brothers and sisters is amazing in and of itself. But the time Bina took to think about each brother and prepare something unique for each of them was exceptional. Math naturally complemented this story in terms of patterning. The author notes at the end have wonderful teaching suggestions.
I quickly preordered this one for my class.

Part of a new series of early math skills-building picture books featuring diverse protagonists, Bracelets for Bina's Brothers follows Bina's efforts to create custom bracelets for her three big brothers in celebration of Raksha Bandhan (a Hindu festival focused on sibling relationships). This particular story includes jumping off points for parents and teachers to discuss pattern development with children.

I thought that this book was just lovely and it was a wonderful story.

The book is very well written, it has a lovely flow to it and the illustrations just bring it to life. Every page of the book was a delight. I loved the focus around the celebration and the family bonds.

Definitely a book I could see being read at school too and one to use as a classroom aid to talk about different cultures and the different religious celebrations too.

A fun and colourful read with some lovely illustrations – it is 5 stars from me for this one!

Celebrate diversity, math, and the power of storytelling in this latest book in the Storytelling Math series.

While preparing for the Hindu holiday of Raksha Bandhan, Bina explores patterns as she makes beaded bracelets for her brothers. LaRocca's text seamlessly blends everyday cultural aspects of Bina's world with day-to-day math concepts. This book is perfect for early elementary classes with it's engaging text and gorgeous illustrations. I highly recommend this book for Tk-2nd grade classes.
FIVE STARS!!

A cute book that both introduces an Indian holiday and a math concept to preschool-1st graders. As is often true with such purpose-driven books, the story is fine but not great literature. The pictures are bright and fun. Indian-background kids will enjoy seeing people who look like them and their customs as an integral part of the story. Teachers will definitely find ways to use this in classrooms. Overall, a book I recommend.

In Bracelets for Bina's Brothers, Bina is getting ready for Raksha Bandhan, a holiday for brothers and sisters. Bina is making bracelets for each brother and wants to make sure each one is perfect.

The story is engaging and fun. The author works in some pattern making and problem solving, but it does not seem didactic. The author includes a cultural note for those not familiar with the holiday. I would read this book with my kindergarteners, as it ties into the patterns they learn in Math.

Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Bracelets for Bina's Brothers takes the reader on a brightly colored journey through Raksha Bandhan, highlighting the importance of sibling love and care.

Not only is it a heartwarming story it also is useful in helping guardians to teach young readers about patterns, something that will then be helpful for them with regards to Math later on in life. Be sure to check out the helpful math ideas in the back of the book.

This is a colorful, entertaining, and meaningful picture book with an enjoyable didactic component and a heartwarming message!

Bina is an adorable m.c. with three older brothers and a dog, Tara, who serves as her buddy and comic relief. This dog's faces are not to be missed! After chatting with each of her brothers about their favorite (and least favorite) colors and taking into account their added extracurricular interests, Bina sets to work making a protective bracelet for each sibling in honor of the upcoming Raksha Bandhan holiday. I loved learning about this holiday, the meaning behind the bracelets, and the choices Bina makes when constructing these bracelets for each of her brothers. For me, the use of patterns and mathematical concepts is a particularly intriguing aspect that I haven't seen accomplished quite like this in other picture books.

The illustrations are stunning. Every page is a burst of color, and the color has obvious meaning in the context of the story. Tara's goofiness adds to the lighthearted tone of the work, and Bina is *so* cute. The brothers are well defined and illustrated in conjunction with their hobbies and personalities.

In the intended fashion of all picture books, the language and the pictures are inextricably tied here; each adds so much meaning to the story as a whole. I loved learning about something that is both new to me and so sweet, and I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a memorable and beautiful picture book!

This book is just what my library at school needs, more diversity in our selection of books. I have never before heard of this holiday and I am kind of jealous to tell you the true. This fictional picture book which also has some math for the younger grades as well is one I am adding to my list of picture books!

This is a story of Bina and her brothers the days before and during Raksha Bandhan. Raksha Bandhan is special holiday for siblings to show they care and love one another. This year Bina makes her own bracelets for her brothers. How will she do on her own and will her brothers love them?

In Bracelets for Bina’s Brother, Bina is getting ready for Raksha Bandhan, an Indian holiday celebrating the bond between brothers and sisters. This year, Bina says she's old enough to make beads for her three annoying brothers on her own with the help of her trusty dog Tara. Bina takes into account her brothers’ interests, likes and dislikes, as she tries to make bracelets that are as unique as they are.

This was a beautiful book. The author infused lessons of perseverance, problem-solving, love, creativity, cultural appreciation, and math into a book without it feeling forced. The illustrations are gorgeous and add bursts of color and brightness to the story. This is definitely a must-have for kids learning about patterns. The author’s note in the book provides some additional context about Raksha Bandhan and activities for exploring patterns.

Wow! I love this book.

Coming from a south asian heritage I am trying to find books that will showcase our culture to my kid.

This book exactly does that.

IT captures the essence of Rakshabandhan so beautifully. Handmade rakhis are a treat and the story beautifully conveys the loving bond between brothers and a sister.
The sister protagonist of the story tries to consider the likes and dislikes or her brothers while creating the wonderful bracelets for them.
The brothers also have thoughtfully created a return gift for their sister.
The story telling is amazing and so are the illustrations.
I wish I had this book in an actual copy so that I could review it on my Instagram channel and make my south asian audience aware of this wonderful book!
(It has a math aspect as well with is an extra bonus!)

BRACELETS FOR BINA'S BROTHERS is a one-of-a-kind book in many ways. It celebrates Raksha Bandhan, a festival of love and bonding between siblings. As per tradition, the sister ties a bracelet on the wrist of her brother, and in return the brother promises to care for her all his life. Secondly, the book teaches the concept of patterns that has been cleverly woven into the story in a meaningful way. I also loved the idea of Bina and her brothers making handmade gifts for one another, instead of buying them. It emphasizes on the expression of mutual love within the family while creating something beautiful.

I also love the illustrations by the talented artist.

Overall, a perfect book for siblings and families to enjoy while learning a thing or two about a different culture. A great concept book for the classroom too!

Normally holiday books are only read around the time of year of that event, but this author was clever in making it a story that children will cherish year-round. While it is a lovely story about Raksha Bandhan, and the love that these siblings hold for each other is precious, this book offers opportunities for children to engage with patterns. There are tips for parents at the back of the book to help children engage with identifying patterns both during the story and beyond. This interactive learning experience that will make children want to go through the book again and again to see what other patterns they can spot. Well done!

Charming and delightful story of family and math! Love the beautiful illustrations and the words that take us through the story and Bina's efforts to make just the right bracelets for her brothers.

“Bracelets for Bina’s Brothers” is a wonderful book! It is about Bina, who is making bracelets for her brothers for Raksha Bandhan. When the patterns in her bracelets get confusing and Bina messes up, she problem solves and changes the colors! This is a cute book about patterns in math and family. I highly recommend for younger readers!

I loved this one! It ties together perfectly what an Indian festival celebrates and math, patterns, colors. I loved the colors and the sibling interaction and love!

This is a lovely story in its own right, before you even think about the maths element. It is the story of Bina, who wants to make bracelets for three brothers, as gifts for Raksha Bandhan. She has beads in three different colours and wants to use two colours for each bracelet. The story follows Bina as she works out how to design the bracelets so that each brother gets his two favourite colours.

I really liked the story and the explanation of Raksha Bandhan as well as maths activity ideas at the end were a perfect finish. I can see this book getting a lot of use in an EYGS/KS1 classroom in particular.

This was a lovely story about a new to me Holiday. Raksha Bandhan is an Indian holiday that celebrates siblings. It is customary for sisters to give or make their brothers bracelets. Bina is finally old enough to make her bracelets instead of buying them, and she goes about quizzing her brothers to make sure they are perfect. This story was excellent. The vibrant illustrations will perfectly set off the tale and make for a fantastic introduction to new traditions.

This picture book is a must read for children. Not only this helps them with learning about patterns, it is a book based around an important Indian festival, Rakshabandhan, that celebrates the love of siblings.

Illustrations are super cute and I loved the colourful pallets. That perfectly symbolises how truly colourful the Indian culture is!

Definitely recommended for all kids. This would be a beautiful gift indeed.

Bina, our main character, wants to make bracelets for her three brothers for the upcoming Raksha Bandhan holiday. She has a special relationship with each brother and wants her gifts to reflect that. With the help of mom, and the family dog, Bina makes something incredibly special for her brothers.

This would be perfect for a school's culturally diverse library. Children will love to learn about this new holiday, and the illustrations capture the imagination. Will definitely recommend to our school's librarian.

In the story, a mathematical lesson is subtly woven into a celebration of siblings’ care for one another. Skillful dialogue and short sentences contribute to the sweet, childlike voice of the text. A warm color palette and textured backgrounds create a cozy depth in the illustrations. Thoughtful details like rug tassels and Bina’s striped shirt reinforce Bina’s lesson on pattern recognition. Perhaps most important, instead of being a dry, didactic lesson on diversity, this book is a joyful celebration of the Indian holiday Raksha Bandhan that will help build a true appreciation.

This was an adorable little picture book! I loved getting to learn about Raksha Bandhan. I adore that the holiday is about the bond between siblings. I really liked the little bit of math that was introduced in this book. I especially loved that it was about patterns because that was my favorite when I was little!

1st Line: "Bina had three big brothers: Vijay, Siddharth, and Arjun."

Prose (Story): Raksha Bandhan is coming up, and to surprise her brothers young Bina wants to make each of them a special beaded bracelet incorporating their favorite colors. After a little snooping to determine which colors each brother likes or dislikes, Bina sets out to make each bracelet via a special pattern, discovering math can actually be fun along the way.

Don's (Review): There is a lot packed into this short picture book for kids - and that's meant in the best possible way, as author LaRocca incorporates the information in a way that never feels jammed together, much less like the reader is being taught. This is a Storytelling Math book, developed in cooperation with math experts at the STEM education nonprofit TERC, which shows children utilizing math and patterns in their everday lives in a positive - even fun - way, which Bina does here in trying to make the best beaded bracelets she can for her special gifts. It's very well-executed here, as the love Bina has for her older siblings shines through as well, so by no means is this "a book about math" and in fact feels anything but. Chaaya Prabhat's lush, brilliantly-colorful illustrations help to set mood and tone for both the story and the Hindu holiday of Raksha Bandham, and to me anytime a children's book can teach me this much without it feeling like learning, said book deserves a place in any kid's library - in this case for its diversity/cultural value, alone. Very sweet. 4/5 stars

Rajani LaRocca has delivered a kind, curious, lush, loving story about uniqueness, math, and family bonds. I loved reading this aloud with my young daughter, who eagerly soaked up the exposure to a culture that was new to her. The book is gorgeously illustrated with a warm and welcoming color palette, inviting new perspectives, and folding in a celebration of individuality combined with family love. I cannot wait to gift this book to friends and we have already added this one to our personal library!
