Description
the sunflower project is a collection of poems that tell the story of phases of life;
growing from the seed of innocence and naivety, to almost withering into nothingness with the loss of self-love and self-worth;
then being revitalized by rediscovery and restoration and unfolding petals that are kissed by the sunshine of freedom, healing and the reclaiming. the sunflower project tells the story of love and loss, faithfulness and faithlessness, brokenness and abandonment, and finally introduces the rebirth and the determination to becoming centered, whole, and victorious in existence once again. the sunflower project was written in the hopes that readers would see themselves in its pages, acknowledge their heart’s needs, and join the writer in embracing all of the petals that symbolize different facets of their identity worthy of love and attention;
building a stem of resilience despite life’s storms; and committing to continually tracking the Son under whom there is greater grace.

I read this beautiful book from cover to cover in one sitting. I am absolutely amazed!!! This book is perfection. I felt every word. This story is so many of our stories. The author’s transparency and vulnerability made her poetry so very authentic and relatable. The way she wove in lessons on maturing in her faith was absolutely superb. It felt natural, not forced. The book held my attention until the very last word.

During a time of where we're still mourning the death of Kobe; fighting for our health with the Coronavirus; trying to maintain financial stability; plus trying to battle racism. Alyssia McCloud came a dropped a huge dose of positivity. Definitely needed to uplifts my almost broken spirits. Easy read. So satisfying. You will not regret this purchase.

After reading “The sunflower project” it forced me to reflect on my own life!! The way the author talked about unhealthy love and how she reclaimed her life was like a breath of fresh air!! I love the way she metaphorically expressed her journey!! I can’t wait until her next published work!! Great read!!

If you’re looking for some healing, wisdom, an amazing story, or if you’re just into dope poetry, this is the book for you. The author takes you on a journey with her words, and it’s so intriguing that you’ll keep turning the pages until the journey is done. This is a super relatable story. With every poem I read, I saw a piece of myself in her story. This book could be read as an entire body of work, or as a reference to be applied as we go through different emotions in our everyday live. Love this poet, love this book, and I can’t wait for the next one!
