Description

Kitt is done with fighting and decides that from now on, he will work as a smith. People would respect him more, if he were still a warrior, but being a humble workman is good enough for him, and safer - for others. A secret of steel sleeps in Taumeiryale, the legends tell, and he wants to uncover it. When Kitt comes to the city by the river Meira, he finds that he is the only blacksmith there.

Maiat, the Higher Order of things rules in the person of the Sunlord, a ten-year-old boy. Tempted by the dark secrets, the boy befriends Kitt and brings them both into open conflict with the priests of the Temple of Eternal Light. Soon, the great, winged serpents slither through the streets to devour who they find, and not even the golden palace is safe.

Two great secrets of steel surface, a fallen star and iron from distant shores. Magic comes within Kitt’s reach as it never has before. For the first time, a water woman weeps, and a dark angel is scheming from beyond the world divides. From the fallen star, Kitt forges the Dream Cup, the Mirror of the Invisible, the Dividing Sickle, the Kettle of Mutability, the Wand of Wenmut, and last, the Shield of Heaven and the Star Sword, to end all evil, once and forever. The latter transports him to the world of the Diamond Star, where justice is not what Kitt thought, ending in a soul-destroying catastrophe.

As the Star Sword’s maker, he must hide the dangerous weapon to never be found again, and for this, he travels far south. There, he meets an old friend, Sogolon Ogidigan, and together they face a serpent-monster, absolute evil and the dead roaming the kingdom of Akan.
