Featured Reviews

At first, I would like to thank Netgalley and Matador for allowing me to review this book. Keep in mind that my review, however, is my true opinion on this book.

“The Optimum You'' by Duncan Christie-Miller is the self-help book for you, who wants to be the best person you can be. The author also knows that all people are different, and that you might not want to be the same as your neighbor. Or that your best is not necessarily the same best as your neighbor.

Are you cheerful or are you pessimistic? Are you resolute or indecisive? Are you flexible or are you rigid? Sometimes you have to adopt the positive attitudes and the positive thoughts. But sometimes it is harder than you would think.

How do you become the best of you - the optimum you! And you have to learn how to use that to get the best results.

How do you manage stress? How to overcome fear? This book takes up some very important topics and helps you to grow as a person. A perfect book for you, who would like to learn about yourself.

The book is well written!

In this book, you will get advice, exercises and tips for you to be the best you! Do not doubt yourself! Pick up this book, read it, and improve yourself!

An excellent overview of the principles and strategies for self-improvement, but short on detailed instructions on how to implement the ideas.
This author clearly enjoys using mnemonics and anagrams at every opportunity.
I enjoyed the section on OATS - Objectives, Aims, Targets and Success, but was looking for more examples in modern business and lifestyles where Objectives were linked to vision and mission, leading to aims for the project in terms of deliverables, which then could be broken down into specific tasks in an action plan, leading to the end goals/deliverables.
The ideas in the WELLSAID [ another mnemonic] section were well explained, as was the idea of using self-coaching techniques for personal development. This section would have been more useful if placed after Self-Authorisation, showing you how to select the best way forward from a current position.
Overall, very thought provoking, but not complete.
